Ed Smith Stadium reviews
17Loading sandbags due to an impending Hurricane! Well organized and controlled by city workers.
So hurricane Ian is coming tomorrow and the stadium lot was designated as a place to get sand bags. Its a mess and one of the city workers just told me that it was much faster and better organized yesterday but the Orioles organization got upset because people were being allowed to park on the grass in the parking lot. There's a hurricane coming and they are worried about the grass in the parking lot! All the money that they make off of this City for decades and they are more concerned about the grass in the parking lot than they are the people of Sarasota. Hopefully enough people get upset by this post and never spend a dime here again. No wonder the Orioles have sucked for so long.
Ballgames are major league but not as expensive as regular season games. We got tickets for a Sarasota Orchestra 79s music concert and fireworks. It sponsors many more events than baseball.
I took my 83yr old grandmother to the Baltimore Orioles Stadium for a 70's themed symphony. Typically my sweet gal is mobile and getting around just fine. However, on this particular evening she was experiencing pain and was unable to walk. Upon entering the stadium the staff and volunteers noticed she was having trouble getting around and went over and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Shelby, who is employed here walkie-talkied someone for a wheelchair and was extremely thoughtful to bring a chair over to my grandmother well we waited for it. Two Volunteers by the name of Mike and Al, then made sure we could find some wheelchair accessible seating since she would not be able to get into the bleachers where our sits were. At the end, Mike, AL, and a women employed by the name of Judy were overly accommodating to make sure we got out of the busy stadium with pose. Judy even had jokes the entire way out to the car. I truly believe this group of individuals should be given a pat on the back and be recognized for their efforts to make this night special for us, especially with how busy it was. Thank you all for all your efforts, it was much appreciated and should not be overlooked.
The stadium has plenty of concession stands but this year (2022) because the Orioles are THE poverty franchise of North American pro sports, Camden Cottonball, the Orioles' company which runs concessions, only has a few stands open. Thus on nights like tonight when it's fireworks after the game, the lines are asinine.
I came to watch the Baltimore Orioles play the New York yankees. The greeter was very nice and helpful. Expect a great stadium experience for spring training. You're very close to the field. There really is not a bad seat in the place. Food and beverage locations are on each end of the stadium. Parking wasn't the greatest but that's expected for any stadium that you go to. Definitely arrive a good hour before your game to get any parking. If you have time I would even suggest an hour and a half.
Short Spring Training this year, but the stadium brings the taste of baseball back and looking forward to a great year of MLB baseball
What a beautiful stadium and experience. We enjoyed a Tampa Bay Rays and Orioles game. Great food and beverage choices-most were cashless. Hot dogs, brats, nachos, chik fila. You are not allowed to bring in bags unless it is a clear plastic gallon bag. You can bring 2 waters, snacks and sunscreen and a sandwich if it fits in the bag. I wore a small cellphone purse.
This is your typical stadium for baseball games. There were multiple concession stands and did serve beer. As a Sarasota County tax payer I hate seeing this stadium sit dormant when baseball season is over. There is plenty of handicapped spots. It is clean and well maintained, it is not run down.
It's ALWAYS a great day for a Spring Training baseball game! Sarasota, FL is the home of the Baltimore Orioles. Ed Smith Stadium is architecturally beautiful. All of the attendants working today were very friendly. In fact, they are the friendliest when compared to all of the other attendants in the numerous stadiums we've visited during Spring Training. What a joy, and so much fun!
The only downside was the poor quality scoreboard; it was very difficult to read. Everyone sitting in our section was complaining about it.
Spring Training opening day is a lot of fun. Real baseball, and the stadium is beautiful. Ticket price was $23 for the shade, and the ballpark food was good: chicken sandwich, fries and ice tea. Free Orioles blanket today! A shady seat is worth the trouble.
We had the best family experience here and the staff was great. So nice to us and our children, will have to make this an annual tradition for our family.
Unfortunately I did not get to see spring training because of the lock out, thanks. But the minor league put on a great show. Wish the Stadium field was ready to have the scrimmage in the stadium. Guess I will try next year.
NOT A RAPID TESTING SITE. We were told by an Urgent Care that this COVID testing site is a rapid testing site. It is not.
Furthermore, this Ed Smith stadum site sent us to ANOTHER sports complex in town for a rapid test, which was NOT, either!
Love this place. Very friendly atmosphere. If you get there early for batting practice, you can snag a bunch of home run balls in the outfield bleachers. I also love it because it means that regular season baseball is right around the corner.
Time was pretty fast but the first employee coming to car had no gloves on.handled my phone. I should have not handed to her but she should have had gloves. I'd go again there though.
Ed Smith Stadium is one of the best places in Florida to see a spring training game. Located in Sarasota at the epicenter of 10 MLB training sites teams located on the West Central Coast of Florida, one can plan their spring training trips to various venues within an hour's drive, after experiencing a game in a ballpark that was built in 1989 and renovated in 2011. The redesigned was created under the guidance of Janet Marie Smith, famed ballpark architect, and utilizes an old time ballpark feel with the cultural but it's raining architecture of Sarasota. The staff is courteous and kind, and makes it their mission every day to 'create a memory' for their guests. Spring home with the Baltimore Orioles brings exciting American League East baseball to the ED each spring.
