Egmont Key State Park reviews
18Great experience for me and my kids! They loved seeing the turtles and the water was beautiful!
We had a great time exploring the island. The weather was great that day, unfortunately the winds were a little to much to go snorkeling in the off shore ruins. Word of advise if you are going here, make sure you take plenty of water and snacks with you as there are no provisions sold on the key. The Captain of our boat gave us a great verbal history of the area on the way to and from the key.
Gorgeous views and nice calm waves. Would love to make a day of it here at the park. They have picnic tables and other areas where you can eat in the shade of trees or in the sun. Shelling was excellent and we even got a sand dollar directly off the beach. Highly recommend for a small family gathering.
Don’t expect many amenities, but this is a great place to hang out and well worth seeing. The day that we were there, they were manatees, dolphins and tortoises; which alone made the trip worth it)
No Public Restrooms. Nice to explore for a few hours. The Fort, Lighthouse, beached Sailboat, Wildlife, Beaches and other structures.
Egmont Key island is also accessible by kayak from Ft Desoto, which allows going around the island - with stops on various beaches to rest, refresh and explore - and returning to Ft Desoto. It’s beautiful just meandering around the coastline and watching nature.
Big turtles! Just don't touch them. This was a cool place to visit. Lots of old military fort ruins.
Went on a snorkeling cruise. Not much to see underwater due to poor visibility. Cruise operator says that is the norm. Hoped for better conditions.
You can only get there by boat. This is a very historical place with the ruins of an old fort. There is a lighthouse that is still operational. Gopher tortures live there. Part of the shoreline is a designated bird nesting area and is closed to the public. There beaches are beautiful and the water is clear. A nice place to take the family but realize it is hot and there is no running water or amenities on the island.
Too much bird sanctuary and not enough for people to enjoy. Historical buildings are being lost to lack of up keep.sad
Beautiful place. Lots of historical landmarks here to explore. Water was beautiful. Beach was great. I will definatly be back.
Kayaked over from Ft Desoto. Little over a mile paddle. Would recommend making the trip in the AM or late PM lots of boat traffic. But once on Egmont Keyit was very nice.
A awesome place.to hange out with your family and friends. Easy to get too, lots of room not crowded. Beautiful.
I enjoyed exploring this small island while on vacation. There's and old fort concrete structure that is in ruins. I found the structure very interesting. There's also a lighthouse and some interesting wildlife. It's only accessible by boat. The water is beautiful.
Great place for a day trip. Only accessible by boat. Beautiful spot to take the kids. No facilities on the island.
This is a beautiful island filled with history off the coast if St Pete. It is very peaceful and a great place to drop your anchor for a nice beach walk.
I love to go. Last time I went, a Manatee swam right by the boat. The water is beautiful and the scenery is gorgeous.
Love this place except for all the boaters on the weekend. Bring some bug spray, your towels and some sun screen.cause it will be hot. No public bathroom or any kind of store. Only can arrive by boat or ferry out of Ft. DeSoto park. Worth the trip just prepare and pack a lunch if you plan on staying for awhile. Awesome wildlife on and around the key.
