El Potro Mexican Restaurant, Lake City FL

Seating was ample. Tables clean. Great food! Fresh and hot. Servers were all very nice and pleasant. A little bit of a language barrier with our server, but it was all good. Food arrived in a timely fashion. Three of our party had the buffet which is available, I believe twice a week. They really liked it and said it has numerous choices. Prices are comparable to other local restaurants. I highly Rev recommend you try it.

Excellent buffet experience. Too bad I was driving and couldn't enjoy a Margherita. Attentive wait staff. I ate WAY too much.

Good authentic Mexican food, not the best or most amazing but will definitely satisfy the fix. Atmosphere and place was clean, staff was super friendly and nice and everything tasted yummy.

Restaurant is old and on need of work, but the food was excellent and service was also. Not too spicy and prepared well.

Everything good except for the buffet they don't have spicy sauce so. Mexican people need spicy sauce and corn tortillas nice place.

Excellent Food, and Service. There were 6 of us in our party and we all agreed that this is the best place in the area that we have found for authentic Mexican food.

Absolutely awesome food I have never not one time had a bad experience here food is always fresh and delicious. When I've ordered door dash the food always arrives fast and never missing anything I've ordered. 1000 thumbs up to this very loved restaurant and staff definitely the place to go for Mexican

The food is excellent! Everything on the menu is delicious! The atmosphere is genuine and the staff is friendly and helpful! Fast service and great food and wonderful combination makes this restaurant a great place to eat!

Excellent food, large portions, friendly staff and great prices. Highly recommend everything on the menu. The fajitas are amazing, the cheese dip is delicious and the portions are large enough to share. The staff is always happy to see us when we walk in and take excellent care of us every time.

Love this Mexican restaurant and the family that runs it. We have eaten most everything there and haven't found anything that we haven't liked.
I know most are going to a Mexican restaurant for tacos, a chimi, quesadilla, etc but step out and get the chilaquiles or the seafood soup (my all time favorite!). You won't be disappointed, unless you don't like seafood or food in general!

Visited, spur of the moment, on a rainy evening. Had water with lemon, horchata (yay?), and a single cerveza to accompany my (3) carne asada tacos. Everything was on point. Positively changed my entire mood. Ideal waitress was extremely accommodating, informative, and caring. Will mos def return. Had not been in years so I was pleasantly surprised with this experience. I will not wait that long before I return again. Relaxing environment inside and out. 5 stars due to no complaints! I seen help wanted signs posted for those in need.

We pulled off I-75 on our trip north. Restaurant looked good from outside and the parking lot was full. Taco Salad and Chicken fajitas were great.

Food and service was great. My only thing was the movement of the booths by the windows Everytime the people behind us either side it pushed on our side each side. Next time different seating.

Food was good but very authentic. My server couldn't understand me and I didn't get my tacos for 2 dollars as advertised. Also no changing station for children on the bathroom!

Absolutely wonderful meal! The meat on my quesadilla was melt in your mouth tender. You simply must try their shrimp cocktail. It's more like a cold soup and unlike any other. Staff was quick, friendly and efficient. Should get 6 stars!

I don’t like to leave negative reviews for any business unless they’re horrendous. I went to this restaurant because most reviews said it was very authentic.

Authentic Mexican should equal very good. My wife had a salad that was more of a soup than a salad. I had what the menu called “beef” enchiladas. It was actually ground nasty beef.

Our server was very nice and apologetic but please don’t believe the authentic reviews because there was nothing authentic about this place.

We've went several times, always delicious! Big servings, we always have enough for later. Waitress was very helpful. All around you won't be disappointed!

My favorite part of traveling is finding a authentic independently operated Mexican restaurant. This one is my favorite.

We were sat immediately and they had us waiting which was okay. But then a white couple came in and sat next to us which is okay. But then before they even sit down they have chips and salsa and the server asking for their drinks and we have been there like we have been unnoticed. Will not be back.
