This place is amazing! EmployU helps students and adults with various abilities gain skills to be successfully employed. They do this by providing their clients with paid on the job training, self advocacy/pre-employment training, and/or job coaching. The businesses that partner with employU really benefit from the free help and the clients benefit by getting to learn job skills in real-world work environments.a win/win for everyone!

They were amazing at first. Worked at Pineapple’s and El Chicos. Once my contract was done and for me to move on, I was doing college at EFSC for a good while waiting for an job opportunity. However, during my first 2 months with VR and EmployU, 2 of my job coaches left. The overseeing of the job coaches stepped in. I asked them (not going to mention names) if their is going to be another job opportunity and they said be patient. Which I did, for a month (31 days). I then had a meeting with my VR counselor and talked about what happened at El Chicos, anything needed to be worked on. I told my VR counselor I’ve contacted my job coach oversee and they said to wait another month. One month passed! Another week passed. I decided to take things into my own hands and applied at Publix. Did the application, interviewed, then got training done. All that happened in 3 weeks. The staff was nice but also a little strict, said needed my own transport or a way to get to the job site, which was fine. The thing is, it’s the the times you signed up for. You have to agree with the times you applied for, days etc. I have missed a few weeks because of family plans that was planned in advance. I was also sick as well at a time. In advance, look ahead of your schedule before agreeing. If I were you, apply here first and if they give you a problem, go to BAC (flexible scheduling, understanding staff). I am no longer apart of EmployU because of this situation. Don’t take this harsh, but see this as a learning opportunity.

I have had a great experience with EmployU. The counselor, Susan Marino, provides amazing career guidance. She is quick to provide impactful, thoughtful and insightful feedback to my career endeavors.
