Disappointed in the fact the office is unwilling to work with me in trying to resolve a $25 no call/no show charge. I have called and written a letter with no response other than their reoccurring bill. In the end, the amount of money costing them will exceed what they will get in return for that missed appt. Now I am not a patient that has a habit of missing appointments. I had a personal situation occur & as a result temporarily had a break in ins & other things going on & I forgot. A human error that I admit to. It was wrong but not a previous issue nor one that should not have been considered as ok we can waive this time but absolutely not in the future. The negative response from the staff immediately escalated to a conversation that was not where I wanted it to go nor I am sure they did either but thats where it went. I actually never had a problem with the Dr. Mateer, liked her and her staff initially but god forbid you have a money issue apparently and need them to review a $25 fee. I never had this experience & I get its something that they need to do but I also get that sometimes things do happen as as a business they all cannot say they cannot understand and "life" sometimes gets in the way of something. I would get if it was second time. Totally get it. But first time? I received a letter right after I missed my appt that IF I missed another I would be asked to leave the practice and be charged. I should have been given a bill at that time. My impression was that they were reminding me of the policy. How many people actually remember everything they sign? I mean that paperwork could have been signed for some years before and you expect everyone to remember? Mine was not but I am just saying even if I did, I didn't pay attention (my fault) because I don't not cancel so my fault in not making sure I did. For that I was wrong but I really do think they need to give some understanding or see why before passing attitude and not be willing to work with you. Again just sad because I had no issue with the physician nor staff until we have a $25 bill. Guess I am not understanding because I never had been charged this nor ever had a doctors office unwilling to work with you and that is what is troubling to me.

Been desperately trying to get in contact with this office, have left vm after vm and still have yet to receive a call back. This has been 2 weeks now. I find it extremely unprofessional that the office refuses to answer/return calls. If they are not accepting new patients, doesn't accept a specific insurance, then a simple courtesy call saying so is better then crickets.

It's a shame because Dr. Mateer comes HIGHLY recommended and praised. Sadly the front office staff is destroying that for her.

I was referred to Dr Mateer by a co worker after seeing another OB in Ocala who was terrible. The staff quickly had me scheduled and was seen by the nurse practioner Elizabeth. I had only met Dr Mateer twice before having my little one but she took the extra time to spend with me during my visit. She was very kind and knowledgeable about what I had going on during my pregnancy. The office staff have always been courteous and prompt with everything.

When I gave birth, Dr Mateer was there within 15 minutes, my labor was great, although the nurse I had was not listening to her, my little one was here within 1 hr. She seen me in the hospital after baby was born. They were on top of my PPD as well.
I would recommend this practice to anyone needing an OB/GYN!

My first visit with staff and Dr. Mateer went well. No complaints staff and doctor very satisfied. However, my last appointments I had to cancel due to my husband losing his job and losing insurance and then trying to get mine midway and long story short had to reschedule and I could have sworn I called to cancel my last appt due to a private matter but I can't prove it because i called from my work phone so they charged me $25. I'm not a bad patient who skips appointments without good reason and I understand commitments but I also understand things come up and sometimes situations arise that cannot be helped and losing my job to to avoid missing an appt is not one of them and to be charged $25 for the first time without warning is just not good practice when I cannot prove I didn't leave a message.
You cant ever call and speak to someone when you call. You have to leave a message. I dont recall signing anything advising a fee. After the appt, about a month later, I got a letter i missed an appt and their policy is if there are 3 no call no shows they will no longer see you. Nothing advising i will be charged. So I took it as maybe I forgot and note to self to make sure I call next time. Then I get a bill a month later? That's when I got irritated. Thinking I'm sure I called, why not address the fee with their letter explaining procedure, give you a warning and then charge. Don't have to worry, I will just seek medical services elsewhere. Never had to deal with charges ever like this from a physicians office.

** update I had baby number two with Dr. Mateer, and had no tearing, my toddler got to be in the room while his brother was being born by far one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my life. And I also got my tubes removed with Dr Mateers and healed quickly and barely have any scars two months later! Dr. Mateer and her whole team are amazing people. They have tons of empathy for their patients and go above and beyond!

Erin Mateer is one of the most kind hearted doctors I’ve ever met. Unfortunately I experienced a miscarriage while going here 2 years ago & I must say Erin, Courtney & Heather handled the situation better than I could have ever expected. They made me feel heard, understood and most importantly, that I wasn’t alone. I ended up getting a D & C done by Mateer and was terrified from hearing so many negative things about getting a D & C. All the nurses were so sweet and understanding and to put the cherry on top after my surgery Mateer just came and sat on my bed and hugged me. I’ve never met a more empathetic doctor. And NOW i have a sweet little 6 month old that Mateer delivered! First baby: no tearing, my epidural was literally so perfect I could still move myself but still at the same time I couldn’t feel a thing & every one in the delivery room had me smiling pushing my son out. I’ve had nothing but amazing experiences with Erin Mateer & I recommend her to anyone looking for an OB/GYN!

I have been seeing Dr. Mateer for 4 years, I will follow her no matter what location she and her staff move too. I have built a personal connection with almost all of the staff there over these last 4 years and I know my son Silas also has too. Everyone lights up when seeing him and it brings a different kind of joy to my heart seeing everyone care so much for him as well. I know the staff absolutely loves seeing these kids grow as much as taking care of us as women. Thankful to have had these wonderful people care for me and my needs for all these years.

Update: SUPER disappointed with new office and staff. Dr. Mateer is not seeing new patients, even though I was a previous patient before she moved to Gaia Obstetrics. No availability for 3 months (with a nurse practitioner), and when I said I could do any day of the week but that it was more about the time of day, because I’m a teacher (also wasn’t expecting a 3 month wait), the girl said ok. I asked when the latest appointment was and told her any day in September was fine, to which she responded they only see new patients at 11am or 1pm. I’m not sure why she wouldn’t have said that in beginning when I specifically said that I was a teacher so timing was tricky for me. She was also rude, condescending, and didn’t care in slightest. I was blown away. Totally different experience than when I first started seeing Dr. Mateer and when she had great staff. I’m so sad that I can no longer see Dr. Mateer for my care, but hope that another place is better suited for my needs and that they’re kinder.

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Mateer! I have a very complex medical history and a lot going on. Dr. Mateer has been so compassionate and understanding throughout it all, while helping me navigate an uncommon course. She always goes the extra step for me, never rushes me, is extremely knowledgeable, and has my best interests at heart. Courtney and Heather are also fantastic. They get it! They both know how to do their jobs and they do their jobs well. I’m so happy to have found Dr. Mateer and staff! Thank you ladies so very much!

Her bedside manner and personal care for her patients is beyond top notch. If you choose her for your OB care she will take the time to know YOU and form a relationship with you. She cared for me when we lost 3 babies and her compassion and commitment to my medical needs and mental health was evident.

5 stars doesn’t even do justice for how amazing Erin is. I randomly found her a few years ago when searching for a lady Gyno in the area. I thought oh well she looks nice.well she is more than just kind. She actually cares about you, your story, your family. You can tell she actually LOVES what she does. I have never met a doctor so kind. She truly is like family to me. I don’t know how I would have survived my pregnancy and postpartum without her. No question is a stupid question to her. Forever thankful for her. I’m so happy I have found her. Honestly can’t say enough good things. Honestly writing a review isn’t enough but it makes me mad to see 4.7 star rating when she literally deserves more than 5 stars

Becoming a patient with Dr. Mateer has truly been a blessing. I had seen three OBYGN physicians prior to her and started getting depressed because I was not finding any answers regarding my overall women's health and I wanted to give up. I recently moved to the Spring hill area and was so sceptical about finding a new OBGYN. I prayed so much when looking for a new OBGYN and I think my prayers were definitely answered. I knew as soon as I walked into the most beautiful doctor's office I had ever seen. I felt right at home with her coastal theme along with her wonderful encouraging empowering women quotes. Not only that, I found answers and her staff was beyond wonderful. Everyone was very kind, knowledgeable, understanding and caring. Dr. Mateer and Elizabeth were amazing! They both spent so much time with me. They listened to me and answered all my questions. Courtney was also very sweet and sincere regarding my health. Brianna made me feel comfortable when doing my ultrasound. Everyone so far I was referred to outside of the practice has been great as well! My overall experience has been outstanding and I'm very happy I found this place. I'm looking forward to returning and once my current findings are taken care of, I hope that one day if I do become pregnant, Dr. Mateer will be able to deliver my baby. Anyone who sees her will not regret it!

I went to the hospital with an emergency and that is where I met Erin. I was having to travel and hour away for prenatal care because my insurance wasn't worked out. She said she would see me in her office and not charge me while my insurance was getting sorted out. She has made me feel so comfortable in this very difficult pregnancy. The office staff is so amazing as well, the people at the front desk are so kind and compassionate. I look forward to giving birth with her!
