Went out Father's day and couldn't find his site. I was gone away when he passed and didn't know the exact location. Went there Monday when office was open and they gave me a map and highlighted the way to his grave site as well as Grandma and great grandma. Thanks for the awesome help.

I regret not holding the casket with my people. Everything else was a pleasant experience. Going to enjoy visiting my uncle.
Now to plan my funeral and pay for it.

I've been dealing with Evergreen Cemetery and Funeral Home for several years now. They have ALWAYS been kind and compassionate and they take care of business very respectfully. We had my Mom's service at the chapel and it was beautiful and handled very well. My parents bought their plots in advance, as did we. The grave memorial stone arrived very quickly after it was ordered. A lot of my family is buried here. The cemetery is taken care of very well. When there is an issue it is taken care of quickly, and by very friendly people.

Are the gators still in the pond. Or have they been transfered back to st. Augustine yet. Doing anything with my darlings is a federal crime with Florida wish and wild life. I think the warden has more jurisdiction

Super sad that the hours to visit are only 8am to 6pm then the gates are locked. I can only visit my mother's grave if I leave work early and that's super rare

So here’s my deal….

my ex-fiancé is here (we were not together when he very suddenly passed away, but we were still close friends & honestly, not completely over each other & our failed engagement).

i had always heard horrid stories about the cemetery.it obviously wasn’t up to me when things happened & decisions had to be made.i feel like his family was taken advantage of—backstory: my ex’s mom very suddenly passed away a couple of days before Xmas in 2016.his family was still struggling with that loss when my ex suddenly passed away MLK Day 2018.there were things not done right with his mother’s funeral (IMO) & months after the fact, my ex agreed.when tables turned & it was time for his funeral, his dad and grandmother went back to this funeral for final arrangements… there was a ton of miscommunication/back and forth/he said-she said within the funeral home and my ex’s family was given all type of run around during an unimaginable time of grief.my ex was placed into one of their vaults (still can’t figure out who’s idea or why) and the location of the vaults is awkward.the cemetery is mehhh.it always has noticeable trash around when i come leave flowers & it looks like maintenance is the bare minimum.

DO NOT do business with this place. They told us that it would take up to 6 months for the headstone we ordered to come in which is already crazy. Also, the person handling our file went out on long term leave and we were never notified so our order was never placed. We didn’t find out until I called to follow up 4 months after our loved one passed and his headstone is STILL not ordered. They then put the wrong middle initial on the order so the process was restarted AGAIN. All they did was say sorry and there is nothing more they can do. I even asked to speak to a manager and they blew me off. We are already grieving and now our loved has to lie in an unmarked grave for basically a year. UNACCEPTABLE. By the way, as of now, our order has not been placed yet still.

I love this place. I went in there looking for my grandparents that I never knew. I went in the office to get a sense of where they were. There were 3 people in the office and they all took their time to search for them, draw me a map and explain exactly how to get there. Very friendly. From the other comments all I can say is that you can't please everyone.

I love the cemetery. My husband and I bought plots. We paid them off early and heard NOTHING. We did not get a receipt of payment completed or deed. This was 4 months ago. I have called monthly and Marilyn sharply tells me that deeds are the last thing they do and they do not send out receipts when payments are complete. Our family will have to miraculously know who to call and how to prove we have a spot if something were to happen. Each call I had ended with we will get to it. I had another call today and I am fed up. This is a hard thing to do and we want it completed and put away, I suspect if we had MISSED a payment they would be calling us but if you pay early.very disappointed.

Oh I did forget. They did call once to upsell us. Money is very important!

Stunning cemetery with romantic oak trees giving lots of shade, old brick roads thrift the cemetery, monuments and mausoleums are incredible. One of the most beautiful and largest cemeteries in Jacksonville. You could get lost it's so big.

If our family could give less than one star we would. Death and dying are a natural part of life. In most cases your local funeral directors are there to help ease your pain by providing comfort and care while planning the burial of your loved one. Unfortunately for our family that was not the case with Evergreen Cemetery on 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville FL. The funeral director Rick Swanson through negligence/fraud caused our family even more grief and suffering in our difficult time. During the contract we chose to have Flag placards placed on our Veteran’s coffin, unfortunately due to poor planning on Mr Swansons part they were not here for our funeral. They did however arrive prior to the casket being buried but were not placed on the casket even though we paid for them prior to the funeral. Mistakes happen and as a family we understand that but the poor communication provided made it even worse. I wish this was the only negligence/fraud we suffered but it was merely the tip of the iceberg. Also during the contract process we discussed and signed up for using a videographer because we have many family members unable to attend due to their age and the fact that we as a nation we are suffering a viral pandemic. This video would help with their closure as they were unable to attend and also provide a keepsake for his widow and daughter as the family pastor gave a wonderful remembrance ceremony on behalf of our loved ones memories. We were charged for this service and it was clearly labeled in our contract to have a videographer for $495.00. On the day of the funeral we noticed no cameras or video recording devices. When we asked Mr Swanson about it the next day he shrugged it off casually that “he just forgot”. We also discussed the poor communication and the failure to meet the contract that he created and again we were met with half apologies and stating again that he just simply forgot. We are reporting this situation to several agencies including the Better Business Bureau, and the Florida Cemetery Cremation and Funeral Association in hopes that another family does not have to suffer negligence/fraud from Mr. Rick Swanson. It should also be noted that we have used this cemetery, not this funeral director, for several generations of family members and have numerous loved ones there as a final resting place and never throughout all the years have we ever suffered this type of negligence/fraud.

I wish evergreen cemetery would bring back the beautiful Park that does exist on the other side of the road that they used to maintain and keep up by entrance number five it was the most beautiful Park in the spring with the azaleas blooming as I remember 65 years ago
