Exotic Animal Hospital of Orlando

I'm sure the Doctors here are very good.

Unfortunately I did not make it past a rude, uncaring staff member to find out.

After getting my pet rabbit treated at an emergency clinic I waited over a week to try to get her specialized care here. She was hospitalized for 2 days at the emergency clinic and received around the clock care from me after being discharged even to the point of taking her to work with me.

She died the morning of her appointment despite my best efforts to save her. We were heartbroken, but wanted to take her bonded sister to be checked since it was a probable infection and she was exposed.

I called to inform them she died but I would like to bring her sister in her place.but I would need to come later or reschedule so I could go home and pick her up in place of the dead rabbit I had with me.

Instead of trying to help my surviving rabbit the person I spoke with fixated on a $75 cancellation fee because they did not have any later openings available. I would have to pay the fee before they would reschedule the appointment. Having just spent over $1,000 to hospitalized my rabbit $75 is inconsequential, but I was shocked by the callousness.

This clinic seems more interested in absurd fees such as their requirement to microchip and vaccinate new pet patients. While I understand the intent it probably prevents many from being able to afford their services.

I sincerely hope the Doctors there will offer their gateway staff some sensitivity training if for no other reason than to prevent loss of potential clients.

Great experience. We took our guinea pigs in for a checkup. The team at Exotic Animal Hospital was very gentle and thoughtful in the care and handling of them. The facility is new, very clean and welcoming. The appointment was prompt yet the vet took her time with the piggies and answered all my son’s questions about them. We’ll be back next year for their next checkup:)

First and foremost they were NOT overbooked. I had a 4pm appointment and my only wait to get checked in was behind some people checking out. I was brought back into a room within five minutes and a vet tech was helping me within the next five after that. The doctor that came in was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. She was not offering anything unnecessary nor was she trying to make a buck off of the procedures she was offering. My prairie dog was able to be sedated the same visit for x-rays and I saw the x-rays after the procedure! She sent off blood work and CALLED ME BACK when the results came in. I highly recommend these guys for your exotic pets. We live two hours away and I still think they are beyond worth the drive.

Dr. Diaz is amazing! I brought my bearded dragon in for constipation and he got her to defecate right there and I could tell that himself and the staff genuinely cared for her and were very happy that she pooped! I had brought her to another vet hospital previously for the same issue and they didn’t believe me and made me feel like I was crazy, but Dr. Diaz did not and believed me. He addressed all my concerns and answered all my questions and put me at ease. He was not pushy for services and medications. Their prices are very fair and reasonable. The staff are very nice and just great people in general. I wont bring my beardie anywhere else but here.

Dr. Diaz and his staff are the best. The new facility is super. His knowledge level is outstanding. He always has time to answer all questions and concerns. I trust him. If you need a vet for an exotic animal, this is the place to go!

Late last year, our female rat, Penelope had developed a large mammary tumor and we were so nervous on what to do. I decided to put my trust in this hospital knowing their experience in mass removals. Dr. Shuflita is amazing and kept us updated throughout the process. The whole staff was very caring and considerate. Penelope is in great condition almost two months later despite her cancer diagnosis. She is happy and full of life thanks to this amazing hospital! We are so grateful to have more time to spend with our sweet baby. We live about two hours away from the hospital but it was absolutely worth the money. I highly recommend bringing your babies here! I will never go back to Orlando Exotic Animal Hospital. I will not allow Santiago Diaz to work with my animal ever again. I do not like or trust Santiago Diaz anymore. I'm not defaming him, these are just facts. I'm attaching a photo & I think this photo speaks for itself.

Sadly they didn't help me open the door carrying a small cage with a bird, 3 front desk people just watching me do it myself. Basic manners? Customer Service? Lacking. Then the vet struggled to get a handle of my bird because she lacked basic aviary knowledge.he got loose. It was very traumatizing for its first vet visit. Down the street at The Bird Store one could get; come to find out, the same service for $18.00 they charged $93.00. For a nail and beak trim. I don't even think they did the beak but charged me anyway. They also tried to charge me for a fecal exam even saying it came back negative, when questioned what was it negative for the front person went to back to ask only to come back and say "oh sorry they hadn't done it". Almost lost another 35+ dollars on "misinformation and misleading of 'care' ". Finding another bird vet!

I have been here twice. The first time I brought my rescued hedgehog for a check up. I was given a lot of information about caring for a hedgie that has really helped. The next time, I brought him back for another check up plus two African Pygmy Dormice. One of the APD's was critical with sickness or injury. All three critters where checked. The critical one was treated was great care and I was given a plan to get him back to health. The reasons why certain actions weren't taken to completely determine what was wrong was fully explained and a follow up was planned for the next week. I received a phone call from the vet within a couple of days regarding how he was doing. He's still not fully ok, but was getting better. It's a week and a half in from this. He's still not normal, but his treatment seems to be helping and he's gaining weight. Another phone follow up will happen within the week to determine if his treatment needs to change it if something else needs to be done for him. I've been very happy with this since the vet has shown a great deal of care with the situation.

I was referred to this place by our regular vet for my pet rat Jane to get a large tumor removed and Dr. Shuflita did an excellent job. Jane had to stay three nights at the hospital after the surgery and I got phone calls from Dr. Shuflita every morning to update me on her status. Following the surgery, we had an emergency and Dr. Shuflita took the time to see her right away even without an appointment. Everyone at this facility is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate, and I would fully recommend this place to anyone with an exotic animal. Their prices are beyond competitive and I never had a doubt that Jane was receiving the best care while she was there. Best exotic animal hospital in the area, hands down.

This is the first animal hospital I have ever been to where they took the time to explain things to me without making me feel stupid. It is also the most affordable exotics place I have seen around which is nice, I’ve found other facilities tend to price gouge knowing exotics are harder to treat. All of the staff was friendly, and our visit ended up with my bearded dragon hopefully on his way to a recovery.

My daughter and I are very grateful for the humane treatment to our beloved pet "Potato". Thank you for the condolence card, it was a beautiful detail that we did not expect. Thanks to the all staff, especially Dr. Sanngeeta for comforting my daughter for the loss of her pet, God Bless you, Thank you, Thank you so much.

Love taking my bearded dragon here. They treat him so well and give me great advice for his health. I was able to ask questions about brumination and a bio active tank.

DO NOT USE CARECREDIT IF YOUR VET BILL IS GOING TO BE UNDER $500.

Great doctors. Really nice staff. The problem is that if I use CareCredit, they have to charge me a minimum of $500 and credit the difference of the actual vet costs. By credit, I mean an internal credit that goes towards future services from them and not as a refund to the CareCredit. Forcing me to be on the hook for that $500.

They did not fully explain that when I ask if they accept care credit. I didn’t find out until the second visit that the credit is actually internal that has to be used towards other services. When I asked for a refund to the card instead, they said they cannot do that. I’ve been in many exotic vet hospitals, and this is the only one that does this. Incredibly shady.

I live almost 2 hours away and I’m not about to make multiple drives to use it and I have no use for this credit as I have closer exotic vets I can use. I only used them because the vets office in Deerfield Beach postpone my vaccination appointment at the last second and they have no idea when they will have vaccines in stock.

I know I will not be coming back. I’ll just dispute the charges.

Amazing Doctor and Staff! I’ve brought my small pet here (Syrian hamster) on two occasions. The first time was an emergency, and the staff was able to secure and accommodate a last minute appointment. They were all SO kind and helpful. And she made a speedy recovery. Unfortunately, on another occasion my small pet was nearing the end of her life, I was an emotional wreck after learning it was best to put her down. However, Dr Diaz had the most empathy and warmth during this delicate process. Once again, the entire staff and team was so loving. To the point that, in the days and weeks following the passing of my pet—I received a hand written card, and later —a contribution to the Arbor Day foundation in lieu of memory of my hamster. I thought this was not only a superior level of customer service, but beyond a kind and thoughtful gesture of compassion that one would not expect. I cannot thank this clinic or Dr Diaz enough. I highly recommend these providers for your pets. Prices are affordable and the knowledge and service exceeds all expectations.

I've have brought 5 of my guinea pigs to see Dr. Macko and she is absolutely wonderful. The staff is so courtesy, and the facility is exceptional clean. My Coco bear passed suddenly on 10/28/2022, and the staff was beyond sympathetic. I received a handwritten card by the physician and staff sending their condolences. They also made a donation in Coco's name, and a tree was planted in her honor. I was beyond touched, but it didn't stop there. I requested a private cremation for her and what I received was breathtaking and a beautiful tribute in Coco's name. They created Coco's paw print with her name, a lock of her hair, a cremation certificate, and a beautiful box to hold her ashes with her name on it. Anyone looking for an exotic veterinarian, this is your place!

Dr Macko and the entire staff were wonderful! They’re very efficient, helpful and informative! If we could give more than 5 stars we would. We’ll definitely be a returning client with our cockatiel. Thank you for all your help with Beaker!
