Referred to Dr. Humphries for glaucoma consult. The worst doctor-patient interaction and communication EVER! (First person who took my information was very nice and efficient). Doctor never looked me in the face. More importantly, they failed to send office notes and test results to my referring doctor and I was in crisis with high occular pressure and we were trying to determine next treatment steps based on these findings. They never answer their phone. Kept me on hold and then after twenty minutes, they cut off the calls. I sent signed formal requests for copies of my records by email to office staff. They refused to acknowledge my requests. I almost had to have the tests redone, at unnecessary cost to me and medicare, because of their incompetence. Ultimately, I got Medicare's Immediate advocacy group and Quality Improvement Organization - KEEPRO- involved. They tried unsuccessfully to reach them by phone, confirming to me that they also were on hold a long time and then got cut off. But ultimately, they got through and I got my records.

Eye Physicians refusal to provide me with copies of my medical records is a violation of Section 456.057, Florida Statutes, which allows patients or their legal representative to receive copies of all reports and records relating to an examination or treatment by a healthcare practitioner. I sent a complaint to the Florida Attorney General with documentation of all my emails and phone calls and I hope they go after this practice. Violations can result in a $5000 fine to the practice and I hope it does.

Just to be clear, this was not a half hour effort on my part to get MY records that should have been sent to my referring doctor automatically. Even the referring doctor's office tried to call and could not get through. This was weeks of calls and emails and being subjected to a level of stress that I honestly just didn't need, especially from a medical practitioner.

Shame on you. Go to any other doctor or practice but stay clear of these horrible people.

If I could give zero stars I would. They never pick up the phone even after a half hour wait, never return phone calls and don't return emails. Dr. Gold is great, but the service is the worst.

They do not pick up phone to book an appointment. They put you on hold until your tired and hang up. Even if you leave a call back number, they will not call you back.
HORRIBLE!
Answer to reply:
I requested an appointment yesterday on the website, nobody has contacted me!
It is just unbelievable!

You guys are terrible of answering the phone because I waited over 20 minutes just to get scheduled for an evaluation and a consultation for strabismus surgery. I really hope the doctors are good because I have trust issues with doctors here in Florida. I only trust eye doctors in Pennsylvania

My opthamologist referred me to a cornea specialist due to a reoccurring erosion issue. After spending an hour on hold trying to make an appointment, the receptionist asks me "What are you coming in for? "
I reply, "Map dot fingerprint dystrophy"
She says, "what's that? "
I said "it's a cornea problem where I have erosions that are very painful and they keep coming back. "

I kid you not, this girl says, "So what is it that we are supposed to do about it? Like what's the treatment? "
Shocked, I said, "I'm supposed to ask your doctor about the micropuncture procedure"
She says "and what's that? "
Receptionist, if you see this review, google is your friend.
Then she says she needs my medical records to schedule the appointment, so my doctor sent them over to her promptly, and of course I've never heard back to make the appointment.
Needless to say, I will be finding a different office.

They never answer and you leave a message they don’t call back. You have to go in person to schedule appointments or ask questions. When the receptionist is literally just sitting there so I wonder why they never answer.

Zero stars! Worst experience ever!
Called them bc I am in pain due a narrow angle condition, they asked me for my medical records to give me an appointment and after I sent them, they had me on wait for almost an hour on the phone then they told me that were unable to give me an appointment. Pure clowns in there, apparently the doctors are good but the staff are completely disconnected! Lack of communication & common sense! Very disorganized place! Just close that office if you are unable to work! Managers: train your people!

Update: I have called 4 times and left multiple messages since their reply. NO ANSWER EVER. NO CALL BACK. I guess I'll just keep trying my luck until maybe someone cares.

Waiting for a call back from billing. Honestly I was pretty pleased with the Dr but then I got the bill. $761 for an office visit for a new patient? !? ! Then another almost $300 for an additional exam at the same visit. The bill was over 1000 and I'm left trying to figure out how to pay the remaining almost 500$ that I now owe and my son is suppose to go back in March. He won't be going back if this wasn't some type of error. I have never paid this much even for a specialist! So sad!
