Fernandina Beach Golf Club reviews

My first time playing this course in about 15 years. The south and west courses have not faired well. The fairways on the south course were actually ok, but the greens were very rough with weed issues. The west course should have been closed while the reseeded fairways have a chance to grow in. The greens on the west course were actually in very good condition compared to the south course.
What a shame. They let this turn into pastures. It’s nothing close to a golf course. The authority in charge of this “ golf course” needs to be investigated. The absurd taxes we pay and they allow this? More to come, much more.
This place is a total joke! Fairways roped off, no grass bare spots all over, cart paths in horrific condition, no rangers, greens are like concrete. The bottom line is you get what you pay for and these people should be paying you to play on this disaster. It would take millions of dollars to get this joke in playing condition. Don’t go if you want a enjoyable day of golf or you’ll be sorry. Amen!
East and West Courses are not too bad, however the South Course should be closed down and repaired. It is in terrible condition. Many of the fairways are just dirt and most of the tee boxes are the same. See photos attached. The Staff are friendly and nice.
Staff was great. Worst conditioned course on the island. They are finally redoing parts of it but it’s in really bad shape. Played for the first time in years today and was really disappointed.
Feb 2023 update: specific to the new top-tracer equipped range. Great to have this facility available to shake off the rust from CDN winter. Option include lg ($12) or small ($8) bucket of balls, or $25 per hour unlimited balls to use the pro-tracer (same tee boxes, real balls onto the range. Food available to purchase. Lots of seating. Great facility, just built 2 years ago.
2020: Reasonable price $49 w cart & tax at 12 Noon. Greens are great, fairways scrubby, tee blocks rough. Still a great way to breath the fresh air! Friendly staff all around, and beer at the turn 2 for $8 w a bag of ice to go with it. Definitely will return (so close to the beach as well)!
First time playing there on 12/29.
I played the West and South course.
West course was decent, fun layout and a par 37, so a bit longer, which makes it more fun. Greens were soft, and rolled pretty good. Fairways were in ok shape, as were the tee boxes, except that some of them aren't too flat. Overall pretty good for the price.
South course was more rough. Challenging layout, pretty narrow. Some of the greens had rough patches on them. Fairways had sandy areas of little grass in parts. Tee boxes were ok. Definitely could use some work.
Overall not a bad place to play, most likely will return in the future to try the North course and hopefully some work is done.
Great job on the north course, South needs more bandages if not closed and repaired. Suggestion to expand your city discount to include Nassau County. I'd play more often living in Yulee. Don't do the par 3 course, it's great y'all have 27 holes.
They have some work to do to bring it back to the glory it deserves.and the community deserves.we wish them well and want to support that effort
Despite all the negative reviews on this course its In really good shape and appears that the grounds crew have been putting in a lot of work! I played North/South on 9/20/22 and greens were great! Keep up the good work!
7/9/22 I was surprised that the course was in good shape. Pleasant surprise. Will play again.
The course is in terrible condition. Greens are bumpy and inconsistent, fairways patchy and dry, and the tee boxes are great if you like hitting off of dirt. Some of the holes aim you directly into trees and most of the course looks like it was designed by Stevie wonder. Paying 50 bucks to play golf never seemed overpriced until I played here. Only good word I can say is that the staff is friendly
I like the Golf Course but that little note on the tables about not tipping employees who only make $15.00/hr is ridiculous. I'm pretty sure you can't rent a 1 bedroom apartment in Nassau on $15.00/hr. Don't tell me what to do with my money!
Absolutely HORRENDOUS playing conditions on the South course! The fairways were cut so tight, that finding one off the tee would almost certainly result in hitting your approach off a hard packed, baked out, granite lie. Even the greens have begun to harden and brown.a month ago, they were lush, green and true- what a shame! However, the solution is really quite simple.fertalize, water and let the fairway grass grow!
Course needs a lot of attention. First few tee boxes had no grass on them. Tees had tree branches hanging over them making a normal trajectory drive not possible. Hopefully it will be in better shape in the middle of the summer. Still seems to have a lot of play. Overpriced at $70 at this time of year with the conditions. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Majority of tee box's had very little to no grass on them. Fairways were not in good shape for those that had grass. Greens had seed all over them and ball didn't roll but bounced when putting. Way over priced for what you get.has the potential of being a good course but is not being maintained.
Not in good shape at all. Grass is sparse in many areas of the fairways. Been in decline for many years.
Have lunch was very good
People were (staff) were very nice
Food was reasonable price
And if golf you will really enjoy having golf course close
I really like this golf course. I played the north course and it was amazing. We got a golf cart and it ran smoothly. The course was in good condition and was very nice to play on. There was fresh water and cups spread about the course but the golf ball washers did not work. There are a few spots that need cleaned up here and there but overall I had a great time here and was able to get together with distant relatives.
I think this is a fairly good course for the price point. We only played the 9 on the West course. The greens were in pretty good shape. The tee boxes could use some work. I think for the price it is fair. If you want to play at a top of the line Florida course then go somewhere else and pay a little more. If you are just wanting to get out and practice then this is a good course to try.
