First Baptist Church of Riverview reviews
3 Been attending since August of 2022. At first, like with most groups of people, it was difficult to feel at home. (Some churches go overboard trying to welcome you. I appreciate the effort, but it can feel fake.) Here, people were just generally polite, and that was fine.
When I started going to small groups, it all opened up! I started getting to know people and they started getting to know me. I'm really enjoying the people and often linger, just not anxious to leave them.
A couple of observations:
1) The Bible knowledge of several men in the church is incredible. It's obvious they've spent a lot of time reading it.
2) The women are so loving! They regularly reach out to people in need. Women can generally be so petty at times, but I'm just not seeing it here. People are human, and I don't expect perfection. But these women are something to aspire to.
Love the pastor. His messages are practical and he adds just enough humor to keep you engaged. He seems to really enjoy his calling.
I highly recommend visiting and checking out some small groups! There's likely at least one or two that you will thoroughly enjoy.
I was turned away. This is an exclusive, club, not a community. I was told they were full, could not accept my children (on any Wednesday), put on a waiting list, and given the names of other churches. This was my first time, and I won’t be back. No church should be exclusive to their own members. I just moved here and I’m looking to be part of a community. I want to meet people, make friends, and mentors. I want my children to learn the word of God. I’m sure there’s a million good reasons why I had to leave, but honestly none of them matter. The fact remains I was rejected. This is everything that is wrong with the church. It’s supposed to be the beautiful bride of Christ, but instead it’s reduced to a Christian club. There’s no power in that, it’s useless. If anyone reads this and has a suggestion for a Bible teaching church that is a community, please comment. Thanks,
Nice people and a good church, but I can’t overlook the fact they don’t believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. They believe the Holy Spirit worked only during the early church. This is not biblical or true.
Holy Spirit has the power to work through us to do the impossible, to heal, to give strength and talent, such as, tongues and interpretation of tongues to glorify God. The elders need this faith in the Holy Spirit to heal through prayers in faith over their members. Trust in Jesus Christ!
