Both “SPD” and “GI” coursework at the Florida Institute of Sterile Processing provide the fundamentals of the Sterile Field Concept. An important theory that is undervalued and under appreciated in the healthcare industry. The application of both courses is embedded in all facets of patient care regardless of job position. The challenging GI course expounds and reinforces the skills of Aseptic Technique. The down-to-earth casual lecture format of the instructor, Robert, was an extraordinary balance of in-depth details taught in a hilarious manner likened to that of an after hours adult comedy club. Robert has masterfully crafted turning an otherwise dull and little known topic into a laugh out loud learning adventure. In short, go for the laughs, stay for diploma, and good luck on the boards!

I recently took the SPD course in Orlando with Roberto, he is very knowledgeable, patient, and I felt very confident by the last class that once I stepped into the role of SPD I could do the role efficiently and effectively. He brought his knowledge and expertise to the class along with a wonderful sense of humor. I thank him for sharing his knowledge with all future SPD techs. The investment was worth it.

Taking this class online has been a success so far. You are provided with all the information you need. PowerPoints, Practice tests and Video links when needed. They are very communicative and respond usually pretty quickly. Feeling confident about taking my test for certification!
