Florida International Teaching Zoo reviews
9Cool selection of animals, birds and rodents. Limited availability means you have to get your timing right as they only allow 12 per group per tour and there are presently only 3 tours a week (2/3/4pm on Sat).
Great zoo and hosts.alot of animals you never see in standard zoos.it's not huge but the staff and animals make up for it.worth the visit.will return
Spotted hyenas have always been my favorite animal, so coming here and just being in their presence was pretty mind blowing. They’re massive and so beautiful, you can see the power in their eyes when they stare at you. This is not a zoo animal, and our hats are off to the hardworking men that take care of these animals and spread knowledge on them. Thank you for everything you guys are doing!
I never leave reviews, but I had to regarding this place. The story they market to get people out there sounds good, with endangered species conservation and all, but when you arrive you are immediately faced with the reality of the situation. My grandfather who has ran a dairy farm for the past 50 years and has seen it all when it comes to the treatment of animals, described it as a “disturbing” experience. The animals are housed in grossly improper conditions, lacking proper space and enrichment. It was very saddening to see. I wish I had taken pictures. Aren’t there regulations and space requirements for exotic pets? These animals need to be relocated or there need to be MAJOR improvements done.
We had a great time visiting. The staff sure knows a lot about all the animals. I would recommend this place for all animal lovers and family outings.
Certainly a little different than we had expected, it's more of a tour than a place to wander. Expect the whole thing to take about an hour depending on how many questions people have.
There were a few animals we were hoping to see that weren't there. Specifically the tigers and couple others you may see in the pictures. From what we gathered it's because of the fact they are a teaching zoo and the animals do get moved to other zoos.
Overall, the value and experience is pretty solid with lots of good information packed into an hour.
What an amazing pre birthday gift for my boys. The owner gave them a free photo OP with Jackie! We had a great time!
One of the best experiences at a zoo! They are phenomenal to the animals and the amount of knowledge that was shared with us was fantastic and clear and we were given opportunities to ask questions. They name their animals and truly care about the continuance of all species and helping other zoos! I highly recommend and shall go again!
A great facility that offers a year long course in zoo management. Students give zoo tours on the hour winch is part of their course curriculum. Also exciting is the Hyena encounter, where for a nominal fee which helps further conservation efforts, the participants are able to feed a hyena including a photo doing so. Open weekend afternoons only. A real value to the community
