Rented a 26' deck boat for the day. Have lots of boating experience but never boated in the keys. Rick was great helping us navigate and suggesting spots. Ran out to some snorkel spots and then a private beach on one of the southern islands. Boat ran and navigation system works great, price was outstanding. Would highly recommend.

Had a great experience renting a boat for a day in the Keys. Lots of places to explore. Great service and helpful staff. The boat was well equipped and in good shape. Best thing I did on this vacation.

My family recently rented a boat from Sunset Watersports in Key West. The boat was very well maintained and we were given safety instructions before taking it out. The weather was perfect and our family had a wonderful boating. When we travel down again we will definitely use this company again.

These folks wasted our time & money. Tammy needs to take a class in customer service! One star is too high of a rating for them. Do yourself a favor go elsewhere!

**This will be Long** My family had a horrible boat rental experience with this company. We have rented boats in the past as recent as last October and in many different locations. The listed price was double what we’ve paid at other locations for similar rentals (22ft Pontoon) but we decided it would be worth it to get out on this beautiful water here in Key West. They require you to put a $1,000 deposit on a credit card over the phone to secure the reservation, something I was extremely uncomfortable with, but again decided to look past. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a man who was cracking jokes on our inability to find their check in desk. Nothing is clearly labeled, so this was annoying. Again, we let it go. The man at the desk caught a glimpse of my active duty military ID as I was looking for my drivers license, and began the conversation by insulting me for my branch of service. He told me this was ok, because he was a retired “Navy SEAL”. Highly Unlikely. Yet Again, we let it go. This is when they began to go through unmentioned requirements and fees. The cost of the rental will not cover Taxes, Fuel or literally anything else you can think of. The man then took us out to inspect the boat. I can’t overstate how disgusting, decrepit and unsafe the conditions of this 22ft pontoon were. It was honestly startling. The carpet has mold, rust stains and a “milky film” on it you only get to experience once water is introduced to it. The upholstery is completely cracked with foam and plastic exposed. The seats are also littered with mold. The swim ladder had two loose screws that were noticeable to the closed eye. Don’t worry, the employee ensured us “those screws are deep, they won’t come out”. He made sure to show off the brand new plastic propeller (the nicest part of the boat) installed and informed us aluminum would cost too much to replace. Despite our better judgement, we decided to accept our fate and continue on with our day. Not letting the terrible conditions ruin our trip. The staff informed us they had told the owner multiple times the boat was inadequate, but the owner refused to repair the boat because it was still making money. We were never offered a discount for the disgusting conditions we were misled to, but yet this man had the audacity to belch out the following statement: “I know you probably won’t, but if you could spare a few dollars for the tip jar, that’s the only way we make money around here”. 1. They’re there on salary, and if they’re not on salary they have one hell of a Human Resources complaint to be made 2. We were NEVER offered a discount for their horrendous product and they also added 50$ in fees and fuel that was never mentioned in the reservation process 3. What service was provided that we are supposed to tip? They literally did nothing. They were rude, insulted my military service, insulted our mother in law, mocked our boating abilities.then remark that we should tip them. This is a tourist trap. They will make their money the same way they made it off of us, folks who are just looking for a good time and want to see the open water while visiting the beautiful keys. You will NOT receive any common courtesy or a service commiserate with the price they charge. Highly.highly recommend finding another rental company to save yourself some of the stress and angst my family had to endure with this disgusting crew of money hungry halfwits.

Terrible customer service! Boat was in terrible condition. Seats ripped. Fuel gauge broken. Cockroach infestation. They up sold us from the boat that we had originally reserved and forced us into a more expensive boat that was falling apart. We were supposed to have a 140 hp engine and the boat had a 60 hp engine that would barely reach speeds over 5 mph. To top it off they blamed a chip in the propeller on us. The entire propeller was extremely worn and was already in bad shape but they had our deposit and would not refund it too us. TERRIBLE.

Contacted this team after speaking w a few others in the area for a pontoon boat rental for a Bachelor party.

Tammy, who I spoke w on the phone was super accommodating and kept me updated w txt msgs leading up to the day.

Boat info: we got the 22 foot pontoon which was adequate space for 8 guys, coolers and backpacks. Major downsides to the boat, no speaker system, or navigation. I'd recommend an experience boater if not chartering. Also the seat cusions were pretty destroyed. Ripped everywhere and lots of mildew stains, understandable though and it didn't impact the trip. When opening one of the cooler seats though there was an aweful smell of something dead and rotting. I let the team know and they poured some bleach in it which helped. We didn't use that cooler seat after that.

Overall for 8 hrs of boat time it was totally worth $500. We linked up on some sand bars w other pontoons pretty close to the marina. I'd absolutely recommend going w this option, just don't expect a lot of frills out of the boat.

We dinged a propeller at idle speed in the channel
Very small chip. I pointed it out to the rental guy and he said he needed to charge for a new prop. He was surprised when I told him I wanted the damaged prop but if you make me pay for it.anyway I would have left it on my own boat. I think they probably use the cheap aluminum propellers as an additional revenue source. If they had a choice this one would undoubtedly been used another day. Next time we will charter, it would have been cheaper and easier. I’m a lifelong boater with decades of outboard ownership. Otherwise the boat was functional although clearly very worn.

Had a 9: 00 am reservation - were told the music system on the boat needed to be swapped out. We said we didn't need music, but they'd already started taking the old one out. Said it would take 30 minutes - at 10: 00, when there were wires everywhere and it was clear they were no where near being done, we told them just to cancel.

First was told I needed to be at least 25 to rent a boat and had to complete the boater safety course beforehand. No problem as I am 25 and grew up around boats in south fl so the safety course would be no issue. So they took my info/card number and made a reservation. Awesome I think, One less thing to worry about on our trip and I was glad to be renting from them because I see nothing but good reviews. Until I received a call ten minutes later asking how many times I had been on a boat in the past year. Well I have not been on a boat in the past year because I work and do not own a boat. I was then told I could not rent a boat because the owner requires you to have operated a boat 20 times in the past year. What? ! If I could get out on a boat 20 times a year not only would I consider myself extremely lucky to have so much free time and money, I would just own my own boat at that point. RIDICULOUS REQUIREMENT. A boat rental 20 times a year at approx $350 per outing would run me $7000.00 for a year. Where does the owner expect an average person to pay for something like that. If your own a boat rental company and someone meets your insurance requirement but not your crazy personal requirements, then maybe you should not rent out your precious boats (that should be covered by insurance anyway). I'm sure they are awesome people, most every review is positive, but my experience was a horrible one.

Emily and Rick are awesome! We rented a boat for the day and they showed us a great location to anchor. We got to snorkel, fish, and enjoy the beautiful keys! We had a great experience and will definitely use them again. You will not be disappointed with Florida Keys Boat Rentals!

Arrived at 1: 10, no one was at the booth. Waited for about 5 mins then called. I was told the guy was out in the water and he should be back in just a "few minutes". Waited in the hot sun for over 30 mins. Then just decided to leave. A few mins after I left, I get a call saying he's there. I told the woman that we just left after waiting 40 mins. She asked for us to come back. But I told her after such a long wait, I really wasnt interested. She got upset and said "you could have called me" and hung up. She could have told me I would be waiting 40 mins in the hot sun too. Smh.

Definitely come see Rick if you're looking to rent a boat for the day! Rick was awesome, very laid back and easy going. He gave us great directions to get to all the cool spots, even gave us his cell number to call him for ideas on different places to go while we were out on the water. The deck boat we rented was awesome! It had a gps on it which made it really nice for navigating shallower waters, especially when we got to the sand bar to anchor for the day. Great fuel efficient motor too, you won't be spending a fortune on gas when you get back to the dock. I definitely recommend this place! You won't be sorry!

We had a great weekend on the water. We rented for two days, snorkeling and fishing. Rick's a great guy who told us where to go out in the back country of the Florida Keys Lake's. It's at the top of my list to do again. Their located right in town and the best.

My friends and I had a great experience! Rick is laid back and was flexible to try and accommodate our schedule. Because I like to fish, Rick let me borrow his personal fishing rods and personally took us to a good spot to fish. I would definitely use his company again.
