My experience so far at Florida Virtual School has been great. The lessons are easy to follow, the teachers are caring, and the children have multiple ways to learn and bring up their grades when they need to. This is a school that strives to teach children not by testing to test, but instead, teaching to a true depth of the material they need to learn. Beyond this unique teaching style, children have the opportunity to join clubs like cooking, photograph, art, and many others. My granddaughter loves taking classes online with other children. The course work is demanding. I can say I wish the pace was a bit slower. With that said, I feel that children today need more study stamina and parent involvement. These kids have to compete in the real world someday for jobs and advanced eduation opportunities. This school from what I have observed so far will give my granddaughter an understanding of what it means to be responsible and accountable for her future.

Flvs is horrible first they have these super easy lessons then the test is 100,000x harder the the lesson you read. Next the teacher see that you didn’t do something but it was never in the directions that you were following. So if your thinking of signing up I don’t recommend flvs

I like that it's way less stressful that physical school especially with AP courses. The resubmission policy really gives the student an opportunity to improve. It would be way better it the teachers were more present in flvs flex in terms of lessons. They are no live lessons that actually correlate with the assignment or lesson material, so you are basically just going through the lessons and completing assignments on your own. If there is something that you don't get, the teacher can take up to a day or two to respond, and at that point youre on a different topic. I also hate that they don't send textbooks or provide access to online versions, especially for AP classes. The information in the lessons just cannot compare to the indepth explanations that you can find in textbooks.

This FLVS is self taught so if you are not advanced enough to learning by yourself this isnt for you I'd rather be face to face than doing this because my parents want me to even tho Its more easier to go face to face than doing online school specially DBA's is really stupid it makes it more harder for me

Absolutely terrible. There is no customer support and WAY too many issues. Simply not worth it and I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Good Morning!

I wanted to take the time to recognize Madame Yee. From the beginning she was so patient with my son.   She genuinely cares about her students and goes above and beyond to ensure their success. We need more instructors like Madame Yee, who are caring and keep in touch with parents to ensure that students remain on track. Again, I can't say enough about how her genuineness and love for what she does renewed my faith in the school system.

This review is solely based on the application process and acceptance orientation. First and foremost, the customer service and communication has always been great. There were moments where we became a little impatient with 1 son being accepted and the other in limbo however everytime I reached out someone tried to help with an update. Mr. R. Doug Miller went above and beyond to not only welcome us to FLVS but also provided support with our enrollment concerns. He was extremely responsive and kind. So glad my boys have him as their counselor! Melinda F also went the extra mile to get me a resolution and assist. With the surge of applications we still were given great service. Orientation was super informative and the teachers seem great. Looking forward to many years with the FLVS family. Hoping this amazing start continues.

No one answers the phone. No one answers the chat. No one answers the messages sent through the system. Have been struggling in limbo for weeks now trying to get an application through the system but keep getting rejected for invalid report card, when I have uploaded multiple copies of report cards from the current schools system. Can't get a person to talk to to figure out what they are looking for exactly, and the rejection email doesn't say why it it bad, just that it is rejected.

I'd like to start by saying I'm a straight A, 4.0 GPA student. The only reason I took FLVS was to earn extra college credits and I've taken 3 courses so far. This is the absolute worst learning experience I've ever had. The only good part about FLVS is the helpful teachers and staff but they only help you to a certain extent and you're on your own after that. The lessons are terrible (either extremely complicated or doesn't make sense at all), the quizzes/tests are way too difficult and took HOURS to complete. I forgot to mention, anything you learn on here is self-taught which makes things much harder than it needs to be. The DBA's are not good for everyone; it's supposed to be a "simple phone call" but a lot of students have anxiety and become a nervous wreck on the phone. The learning process is extremely difficult and it will take a toll on your mental health, not to mention the hours of valuable time you'll unnecessarily lose. Unless you absolutely need the credit to graduate, I don't recommend FLVS at all. You'll save yourself a lot of stress, time, and effort. I hope these problems are fixed so future students can actually learn and not cheat their way through it (like most do) because they feel like they have no other option.

First off i’d like to say the teachers for this school are absolutely amazing and if i could give them 5 stars i would! As for whoever is in charge of making the testing dates and times they are not so great.i’ve received so many emails about test date changes that i have no idea when i’m even supposed to go in.today i had testing at 12: 45 but then received a call saying i missed testing.how? 1 email of all the testing dates and times would have been nice because 10 different emails with multiple different times and dates does not help anyone.oh and good luck trying to get ahold of anyone in the office.i’ve called about 4 different times and it goes straight to voicemail.

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible customer service. I am never able to get through to a HUMAN BEING! Why is it so hard to get in touch with someone from this establishment? Why is it next to impossible to get some real help from your teachers without being disrespected? Do yourself a favor, stay away from Florida Virtual School.

This "school" is not good. Learning at your own pace is a not true at all, I've taken many classes here and felt like I was drowning the whole time. The teachers are nice but please do not enroll if you struggle with learning on your own. Teachers only help you so much, the lessons are over complicated, I've seen many mistakes/typos in the lessons, at one point I had a tutor and he even pointed out that one of the answers in the tests were wrong. Once I didnt understand an assignment at all so I tried calling my teacher (which took about 2 days for her to finally pick up the phone), she didnt explain the assignment at all to me she just kept repeating the instructions I broke down after that phone call. Being on the computer all day trying to learn and teach yourself the lesson material is stressful and overwhelming. Please just send your kids to in-person school or understand that flvs is overwhelming, and tiring. I do flvs flex and even that is super overwhelming- wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy.actually I would.

I am a Student here and I have taken pre algebra and algebra 1 over the last 2 summers. I have a gpa of a 4.0 and am good at completing my task. If your looking for something easy this is not for you. This school is very challenging and provides very little recourses. They expect you to be independent and they expect you to get good grades. This school doesn't allow people with low test scores as my moms friend daughter was trying to get in and she was rejected because she had low test scores.
I have managed to keep my grades to a B and A but it is very challenging.

Teachers pressure you and when you get something wrong on a DBA they will make you reschedule, making you fall behind on test you need to take.

Horrible school, don't waste your time with it, they ask for too much.it's overwhelming and stressful, public school was way better and easier.i had better grades but coming to this hell of a school might just make me repeat my grade.i regret ever coming here.the "work at your own pace" is a complete lie.

I AM A PARENT my view and my children view! 5 + STARS

I have been with FLVS FOCUS and it is the BEST Decision we have made for both our Children. I have also recommended the school to others and their children love it. My Son is now a senior and My daughter just entered High School officially as they both are advance Students. This is not for everyone, I say this because you must do the work to succeed and it can be a bit overwhelming at times I must be honest (MUST DO THE WORK). They do not skip lessons, no chance of not doing a lesson. All classes are recorded for review. Parents are kept informed. I just can not say enough. I believe in quality education and FLVS is 1st class. If you are looking for quality education in a Public school This IS THE ONE!

The staff and teachers are excellent and very attentive, they follow up almost to the point of spoiling them, kidding but that is how:) They do both Live Lessons and Self paced. My kids do not want to go back into Brick and Mortar. The best part is that your assigned public school for Brick and Mortar, your children can go in for sports and activities.
There are also meetups, prior to COVID-19. The Guidance Counselors 100% on point. Communication 100%.
This school will prepare your child to Manage time, be independent and prepare for college.

In the end I always recommend persons to research and find what meet your needs and best for you and your family.
FLVS 5 + STARS LOVE IT!

I have never had such a bad experience until now! I am supposed to be going into senior year but I cant. Flvs has not released my records to my zoned school.
I call all the time and no one answers, without my records I will have to repeat 11 grade.
