Beautiful campground. We had a creek (ok, drainage ditch, but there were minnows in it!) on our site #111. We will be back!

Clean bathrooms, nice day room, and a great location ensured that we had a great time here, save one thing: raccoons.
We were in site 41, where 3-4 raccoons lurked around our campsite the entirety of our 3 day stay. They drank water from the tap, fought each other while up in trees, and stalked around growling at night. Might be a frightful experience for those newer to camping. We ended up cooking our meals in the day room.

Keep in mind that they’re just here for food and not to attack people. Store all food/scented items in your car, don’t leave food out on the table, and find some way to secure your tent zipper because they’re able to open and enter tents.

I went on the 3 nights of camping trip in the early December, 2021 and had very good experiences in the park and park rangers. Although I did not have a chance to book the waterfront camping site, I had a glimpse of it which is quite a “wow” scene.

While I was at the park, I did the fishing right next to registration office and also at the gulf pier. Unlike some other piers including the nearby skyway fishing pier, the pier is well maintained and super clean so as to make me feel so relaxing and enjoying the ocean scenery while fishing.

I have attached a few fishes I caught in the park with live shrimp or dead shrimp and hopefully you can enjoy it.

Great campground! The water front sited are great we were able to see dolphins swim from inside our trailer. Beware if you have a large RV that it's very tight trying to get into your site. We were able to fit a 42' 5th wheel into area 2 but it was s struggle.

This campground is a great place to take the family. 15 minutes away from St. Pete Beach. You can camp right by the water! You have to bring your own fire pits or you can rent one at the store on site. The store on site has everything you need if you forgot something. You can also rent kayaks and bikes. The only thing I didn’t like was being so close to your neighbors, the campsites are crammed together. Get place to go fishing, heard the fish jumping all night. Book early, it’s hard to book here especially with snow birds this time of year.

If you have ever wanted to step into a postcard then this is the place! It is out of this world beautiful! And just when it can't get any better, the sun sets

Love this campground! The facilities are clean and the lots are great for all size trailers, rigs, and vans. Easy to kayak, boating and biking as well as paved paths to the state park where the beaches are fabulous. Park rangers are very nice. Campground sections are broken out perfectly for people with no pets and with pets.

The only disappointment was finding out that people book this campground a 7 months in advance and and when it comes time to show up they no show without cancelling or only show for part of their reservation. This happens for weeks at a time. The first night in our area we counted 8 empty booked sites, the second night 15 empty booked sites and this continued for days on end. It prevents people who are legitimately looking for sites from camping. The cancellation policy is weak and there are no stiff penalties for no shows like private rv parks.

We enjoyed a photo shoot while camping there and it was the perfect place for a holiday gathering. Our lots were on the water which made it ideal. Sunsets were killer.

Sites are to close together, you can hear everything your neighbors do. Camping is to be away from hectic & get more into nature peace & quiet.

Park and campground is absolutely beautiful, with Cycling paths (road is cycle friendly also) clean bath houses and lots of waterfront. Fort and small museum easily accessible by bike or car. My only issues were long term campers having to pay the toll each time you enter the park and park host cleaning bath houses between 7: 45 and 9: 00 am, the busiest times for restrooms and showers. Other than those two items we loved the park and all it has to offer. Lots of beach front, swimming, fishing, windsurfing and kayak renting.

Fort Desoto Campground is one of our favorite places! We stay in the RV waterfront sites. It is Florida in it's natural state. If you need to use the bath houses they are very clean but there is no a/c, so be prepared. The campground is a great location to kayak or paddleboard. It is also only a few miles to one of the most beautiful beaches around! There is camp store in case you forget to pack anything!

Very nice and quiet. Be sure that you have a booster for your internet if you use the internet very much. We were under a canopy of trees, and our site was beautiful, but we had absolutely no cell phone service or internet service.

The campground is nice, sites are good size. Bathrooms were clean. Quite time is at 10 PM but unfortunately I was next to someone that wanted to share their music with the entire campground all night and all day wide open. It was really hard to enjoy our stay when we couldn't hear each other talk or even sleep. My other neighbor thought a huge bonfire all night was Appropriate. There was so much Ash and heat coming off this thing it was burning the top of my brand new tent It was burning on the ground Almost getting out of control at timesThere isn't anyone that enforcesThese infractions At the campground Several people including myself packed up and left because of this

I almost cried when I had to leave. I had a premium waterfront site with my own little private slice of beach heaven. It wasn't like I was in St. Pete at all! I just rode my bike around and watched the boats, it was sheer perfection. If I ever do the Florida loop again, I would book early and stay until they kick me out.

Fantastic spot. Excellent amenities. Conveniently located and friendly staff. Camp out at night, go to the beach during the day, hang out with friends and enjoy nature. Quiet and isolated after quiet time, friendly neighbors and people during normal hours. Great experience.

Went to camping grounds today to check it out I was not really impressed. I have tented for many years throughout Canada and US and without being negative this is how I saw it.
The park was clean and the sites were ok but there is absolutely nothing exciting to do in the park. I would be very careful and concerned if you have small children and you chose to take a water site. My way of thinking is if the rules say no swimming then there has to be a reason for this it's obviously not safe for adults or kids, therefore you would have to watch your kids like a hawk. There is a beach although it is 1 mile down the road and you have to pay 5$ to park, there is no activity/learning center for the children or a place for other activities, only thing I can see for kids/adults to do is bike ride. The other downfall is the RV sites are fully booked over 6 months ago so are friends would not be able to join us.

No they aren't paying me but anyway I have camped all over the eastern seaboard and I got to say it's a really good camp ground I was primitive camping so don't know about all the hook up stuff but I have stayed there four different times and all were pretty consistent and probably will go back if that helps anyone

Hope they find Brian Laundrie soon. Why hasn't the campground provided any security footage online or to the news agencies. There has to be a security camera somewhere showing something. Or someone must have seen something.

Always stay here every year. This year was particularly awesome. Lots of wind to keep the temps at bay and the bugs away. Raccoons are always nuts so protect your food at all costs. They will take something even if you're only 5 feet away.

I passed through here during my walks across America before publishing my book, "Walking America: A 10,000 Mile Journey of Self-Healing. " The camp caretakers were very friendly.

Needs so much cleanup work, not enough room for long Rv's to backup or turn in some areas. The roads had so many potholes even 5mph was to fast. We were there a whole week with great weather before they graded the roads. Everything needs painting and mowing must be 1x a month! Reservations are ridiculous. Say they are booked full but half the place was empty. The sites are either hard to pull into or very difficult to get out of due to trees, overgrown brush, road areas too narrow. Had to wait in line over 45 min to use the blackwater dump station. I would have paid more money for a better site. Next time I will never again here! Not to mention a toll everything you needed to come back to campground and most of the time it was 2 tolls 1for campground 1for highway. I think it's robbery!
