One of my favorite Gainesville events. Bring a bag or several. "There's no ethical consumption under capitalism, " but this is about as close as it gets. Buy more books than you can possibly read, let them sit around your house for a while, then donate them back to Friends of the Library. Ultimately, I see purchasing books from the FOL sale as more of a donation than anything, since I know many of my books will get re-donated to FOL later down the line, before a move or after a major belongings purge.

My wife is a book aficionado (hooked on books) and we have been partaking in this twice a year event for many years now. The volunteer crew is always fabulous and go out of their way to assist with any need. (shout out to PJ) my mate. This years experience was uneventful, meaning no issues from rude dealer types and it was easy to move around and pursue some great finds. Thanks also to the Alachua County Sherriffs Department for their commitment to support and safety of the event.

Went for the book sale. I was a good girl and bought only seven books! Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, hard back for $1.25. What a steal!

Great opportunity to help the library and great prices. They have this fund raiser twice a year.

I was driving past and saw all of the doors open. Looked like a really cool place. As I was walking inside, a random boomer appeared, pulled down his mask, and angrily asked "can I help you with something? " I replied "Hello, just saw this place from the street and was curious what it was". He remarked "Okay, well we are only open for donations today. Read the sign. " The sign was pointed towards the other street, not the street I entered from. He made sure to turn it towards me so I could read it.

Not sure what I did to set anything off apart from exist. Get some more friendly volunteers. Being an a$$ isn't worth a negative review.

Bought about 30 books and a very good price, lady told me at the check out I was going with a precious treasure and that’s how I feel… maybe my family do not appreciate it right now, but going to notice the gifted books through the time…

Great. Hope they continue to limit capacity TO 300 at a time. It made for a much better shopping experience

I have lived here a long time and never visited FOL. Went to the website and ordered childrens book from the BOB (bag of books). The selection was perfect for the Baba. It was easy, drive up, give your name, they bring out the books, drive away. I will be back. Thanks Friends.

This is incredibly well organized. I’ve never seen a friends of the library operation like this. I love the dark for the purpose of discovery. I have read the same ten or so books that I got at this book sale to my daughter each week, and I have had them for five years now. They are different than the books you could find in a bookstore — older, out of print, and just unlike the same few popular children’s books that everyone has. Very few places exist where you can just browse piles of books from the past 100 years or so. It’s so valuable.

First of all, you have to understand the FOL sale is only twice a year. Advice, don't go Saturday its crazy. I had better selection going on any other day when they first open. Lines are shorter and new books have been put out so there are choices. Most range from $0.25-$2 with some higher for collectors items.
