Restaurant Gastrothèque reviews
20First off, a painting of Anthony Bourdain is hanging in the dinner room, so bam I’m happy. Finally, I revisited this super cool, corner joint, that has an amazing wine selection, beautiful proper stemware, (I ordered the Pazzo - a Sangiovese blend from Napa) and creative out-of-the-box menu. With Elk and Scallops as mains, I was really torn! I went with the pork belly for a starter, which was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crisp on top perfectly radioed sweet pot mash. The scallops with charred corn risottowas fresh and divinely flavorful. Slight sweetness of the corn complimented the fresh saltiness of the scallops - and the squid ink adds this wonderful flavor depth. The charred corn risotto was the warm heart of this dish, scallops were the cherry on top! Perfect portion, perfect flavors, fun and kind staff, I can’t wait for their summer menu to come out for more
The food was amazing and the drinks were delicious. I got the fish special and hubby got the short rib risotto. We also got the lump crab special and the Wagyu carpaccio. All superb! Our server was super knowledgeable and I loved the funky vibe. Great experience.
Cool vibe, friendly staff and delicious food! We’ve been to a ton of top restaurants this week but this place is awesome. We’re coming again tomorrow! Drinks were cool and fun and delicious. Food was phenomenal and fresh. Hard to find a fresh and line to table place like this but here it is.
Most amazing meal in fort lauderdale! Great food with wonderful service! We have the cashew risotto and the bolognese and both were to die for. The vibe was incredible with perfect lighting and music, perfect place for any date night! Could not recommend more!
Cory was the BEST. He gave me the best service at the bar and recommended the best food and drinks. Definitely try the truffle fries and the hummus, so good! Have to come in, small but super cute place and great food and drinks. Come see Cory! He will take care of you
Nick and Frank were wonderful! Husband and I decided to stop by for a bite at the bar and we ate so happy we did. Loved the hummus (had a nice kick to it) and baked Brie. We super enjoyed the Mac & cheese. We had the tile fish for our entree- beautifully prepared with saffron gnocchi but I think we will try something else next time. Almond joy for dessert was memorable! Loved it. I don’t drink so Nick made me a fabulous walnut piña colada! My husband had a few smoky old fashioneds (he said they were delicious). Can’t wait to go back and try other things on the menu and enjoy the delightful service! Xoxo
Service was great but you can tell that the owner doesn’t trust the chef. The food was cooked as expected but bland/flavorless. Many other places to try with equal prices and much better food
Terrible atmosphere, totally fell off. Food is OK but what’s that worth if ambiance, service, music is bad? Place used to be a favorite, but now be prepared to have the owner blast EDM at max volume while you wait 1 hour for your meal. Have to chuck this place in the ‘downhill’ basket. SAD!
The most underrated restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. 5 stars all around from food to service. Give me this place over anything else
Love it!
Every time I eat here, the experience is seamless and personal, Frank is knowledgeable about the menu and charismatic (love that), the owner, Gary floats table to table sparking conversation, and the decor is cozy and intimate. I went for Christmas dinner and had the wagyu ribeye… flavorful and buttery in texture (probably the best I’ve ever had), it melts in your mouth. I paired the steak with the mushrooms, and an espresso martini, bartender Jenny’s recipe.
I also tried the Cioppino fish dish, a light and fresh tomato based sauce with an assortment of shrimp, clams and muscles.
Overall… 12/10 stars, I highly recommend.
Came for cocktails, and WOW! Friendly reception and fabulous cocktails! Great bartender! The house special with tequila, agave, lime juice pineapple and jalapeños is to die for. Had a little taste of 3 cheeses that the chef MADE! Stunning. Sadly unable to come back for dinner this time.a reason to return!
Terrible, total rip off, octopus came out cold, ordered the snapper but looked like they gave me old king fish or something, couldn’t eat more than a couple bites before I felt sick. Stay away
Every aspect of this dining experience was beyond exceptional. Our server was extremely well informed of all the dishes they had to offer, and went into full detail on them since it was our first experience with them. All of his suggestions were wonderful. The corvina special was cooked perfectly, and the beet risotto was out of this world. Filet was cooked well and potato pave was something you don’t find everywhere. I truly recommend anybody try this restaurant if you have the opportunity.
To star i have to say that the service was TOP, so, we star good. The food was really good, different Menu than other places, not the common food and the presentation was perfect. There was the owner helping and taking care of the clients. The wine selection and cocktails was good. Be back for sure
Gary the owner is amazing we had a wonderful experience-all the staff were extremely friendly! Would highly recommend.
Food and service were both mediocre. Waiter forgot our drinks. Steak was cold and bland. Truffle Mac and cheese was the only redeeming item.
Much better food in Ft. Lauderdale for 1/3rd the price.
The owner Gary doesn't like to pay his bills. We provided services to him 2 months ago and I have to chase him and still no payment.
My friends and I came here for a bachelorette trip. The staff was very kind and made the experience SO memorable!
I am absolutely blown away by this place. The environment is incredible. Very nice place to go with your significant other. The Mac and cheese with truffle was incredible same with the truffle fries, definitely a must try. The fish is very good, very fresh. I am definitely coming back here soon
If you're looking for the best dining experience in Fort Lauderdale, stop looking, because here it is. Gastrotheque has it all! The food is top notch - I've consistently been impressed by everything I've ever ordered. The wine list is amazing and with reasonable prices, or if you prefer a cocktail, the bartender is sure to put something delightful together. And to top it all off, there are incredibly professional and attentive waitstaff. This place is the real deal - It's no wonder they keep winning awards!
