George's Cafe reviews
17The food here is always so good! The staff are very nice as well. Easily my favorite lunch spot in the area!
I’ve been dealing with George well for 10+ years including weddings catering and employee parties best food in town
I thought this was a nice cafe overall. The pricing, in my opinion, was a bit high for what it was. They have a buffet option with a few dishes but not very many. I believe the food tasted good, notably the scrambled eggs! A cup of orange juice costs $4, so be aware of the expense for that. Also, the buffet was around $19. The food was good, but nothing extraordinary- there’s a lot of other options in Winter Park for breakfast/brunch. Lastly, we came on a Saturday morning and ate for about 45 minutes, and not a single other party came in to eat (nor was anyone else there while we ate). I was really curious about that considering we were there at 10a, prime brunch time on Saturday. Other than the pricing, the staff was very friendly and food was good. Give it a try!
George’s is my favorite restaurant on the Avenue. Everything I’ve ever had has been amazing. His chicken salad on the croissant is one of my favorites. We’ve also used George for catering and he always sends more than enough food. We always have plenty left over.
The food was great but we waited over thirty minutes to even order and another half hour to get the food. I understand that staffing can be difficult but this was pretty ridiculous. Multiple groups of people ended up giving up and going elsewhere.
Sooo. We got there at about 1 pm and there were two tables sat and no one else waiting. We sat at the little bar area and waited about 10 minutes before a server came over and told us that the menus are at the cash register and we have to choose our meal and order there. Ok, but that would have been nice to know before you walked by us six times. We ordered and sat back down and waited, and waited, and waited. 45 minutes later (for a total of 55) we asked to have our food to go. Five minutes later they brought our $40 worth of food (two sandwiches) out on plates. Already late to get back to work, we decided to eat there. The food was HORRIBLE. That's an understatement. I got a cucumber salad that was literally rancid. I wouldn't feed this to an enemy. You can look at my other reviews and see that I am honest, spectacular or fail. This was definitely fail. Do not eat here, there are so many other restaurants within a five minute walk. That being said, their pastry looked fantastic. I didn't try any though, so for all I know it could be rancid too.
A beautiful day to sit outside with wonderful George’s food! Met some friends here for salads and sandwiches after listening to college bands in Central Park. Yes, the portions are large and, yes, we each took home enough for another lunch. It is one of the things we love about George, his food and his staff.
While the food was pretty good, the service was slow (there were only 2 other people there) and they need to learn portion control. The amount of food was obscene and wastful. I would gladly pay the same money for a half portion and still have some take home. The waiter said it was so we could take home. I am guessing most of the patrons are visitors so take home means nothing. May not come back?
Suggest changing your hours to close at 2pm to the public instead of 3pm because your staff clearly wants to close up shop as soon as possible. Came in today at 2pm for two salads with scoops of chicken salad. It was a problem for the staff to even take our order. After paying and taking our seats for 10 min, we were told chicken salad was sold out for the day. The salads we were served I wouldn’t serve to my least favorite person in the world. Huge pieces of uncut lettuce thrown on a plate. Worst experience in Winter Park. I’ve passed by your restaurant so many times wanting to try it out but NEVER again. Don’t come here if you want good service and good food for the price.
The Philly cheesesteak and French Dip were incredible!
Best French dip we have ever had! Absolutely will be back.
The staff is friendly, food is high quality, atmosphere is great! Love The Beatles art everywhere.
The breakfast buffet was great. At first, it didn’t look like a ton of options but just about everything was delicious. I really liked the grits. The chicken and waffles were also very good. The bacon is some of the best I’ve ever had. The pastries were also great. I will definitely be coming back!
Good tasting food. Terrible wait times and service. And the prices are ridiculously high. $19 for a tuna sandwich? No thanks!
Made an account simply to leave a review. Ordered a fried chicken sandwich and the “Havana” Cuban. No flavor, anything one could make at home. Chicken was over cooked and un- seasoned. Potato salad on the side tasted like the pre packaged bins you get at costco. No worth the price tag. Such a shame due to the gorgeous exterior, but I was hoping for a cafe experience and not an unorganized American diner. Staff was aloof and largely unorganized. Not their fault, probably just the culture there. I recommend they take some time to put less effort into buttering every slice of bread and putting more into flavor and properly cooking their chicken.
Edit: spelling error
I love George's Cafe. Their salads are huge and very tasty. And the cookies are the best. Quick service and friendly staff. I'd definitely recommend and return.
This is by far the best food in winter park and not too pricey.you get large portions and everything is fresh and homemade. Plus, it's off the beaten path so a more relaxed vibe
A great place for lunch! Delicious big sandwiches at a reasonable price for the location and for the quantity served. Outside terrasse. Centrally located.
Buffet breakfast at 18.95$. Menu and price available on their website
What an incredible gem on Park Ave in Winter Park. Came with a friend to enjoy the weekend brunch. Simply delicious. Start with the grits and make your way through the rest of the savory and sweet offerings, including eggs Benedict (two-ways), fresh fruit, home style potatoes, several meats, and an assortment of sumptuous pastries. Before you go, treat yourself to a dessert from the case. I treated myself to a lemon bar and a peanut butter cookie. I promise you will not be disappointed. Will absolutely be back, especially for the grits.
