Decided to sign up for an Ironman triathlon a year ago & began training with only a book. Around 3 months into training doug became my coach & he was a GAME CHANGER. His knowledge of the sport and open line of communication made training for this Ironman an amazing experience. 10/10 recommend.

I started working with Doug in December, to prepare for the Snickers marathon in early March. His training was different (smarter) than anything I had tried before for a marathon. I had worked with Doug before to train for a HIM and had amazing results. So I trusted the training and did exactly as he said. My marathon went perfectly! I got a BQ with just over an 11 minute buffer, and felt so strong at the end of the race! And I completed the training cycle 100% injury free! I’m so thankful I reached out to Doug to help me with my training. 2022 is of to a great start! I can’t wait to see what the rest of this years brings.

Thanks to Doug, I recently completed my first full Ironman and enjoyed the experience. I have used other coaches for other events and Doug was by far the most knowledgeable and motivating coach I have ever had. He was straightforward with his instructions in what I needed to do in order to succeed and made me accountable for my training. He was always available by phone or by text to answer questions or deal with any concerns that I may have had. I couldn’t have done it without his guidance. Thanks Doug!

Doug is simply a pleasure to work and train with. He has a wealth of personal experience in racing and training and his record stands to prove this. His training plans which range from 5K to full distance ironman are great and then being able to actually train with him when time allows is invaluable. I highly recommend hiring Doug for your next race.

I respond well to Doug's coaching style. Lots of praise and good solid coaching. He has been able to help me with my swim stroke and have great fun at the same time. The Blanchard YMCA is a better place because of him. I hope you check him out and give him a call.

If you are looking for a Coach to assist, push / help you to get to the next level in your training, then Doug is your guy. He is very passionate about the sport, and with his experience, knowledge and training can get you there. Or even surpass your own goal / expectation (s). I was a so so runner when I met Doug (about 3yrs ago). I was able to run my very first half marathon in less than 6 months of training. I was so pleased and overwhelmed with joy when I completed it within 1: 45. I’m still training and running marathons in order to get my spot in BQ. Last time I was 47 second late to make it. But that didn’t and hasn’t stopped me or Coach for trying again.

What an incredible experience to hear those beautiful words, you are an Ironman! It is the icing on the cake of a journey of self discovery, who you are, your level of discipline, dedication and what you are truly capable of achieving. Thank you Doug, for providing the support and direction to make this dream a reality!

Doug is, hands down, one of the best triathlon Coaches I've ever worked with. He understands the sport in the way only a multiple-Kona-qualifier can, but he also makes sense of everything in a really straightforward way. He has the ability to Coach both brand-newbies and extremely seasoned athletes. Doug truly dedicates his time to the fitness and triathlon community, and his passion shows in his personal efforts and his efforts with his athletes. If you're looking for a tri coach with experience, credentials, passion (and a great sense of humor), Doug is your guy.

I started training with Coach Doug 3 years ago. He has inspire me to set goals and don’t give up until I reach them. He has the patience, experience and know-how to help you reach your goals from a Sprint distance Tri to a Full Iron Man and everything in between.

I have just begun my journey with Doug Guthrie and I can’t express how grateful I am. His technical knowhow, dedication and passion to “my” journey is outstanding. Every detail is covered and nurtured. From checking your ego at the door to truly setting you on your path to realizing your dreams. A great person and an amazing coach.

Doug Guthrie is simply a phenomenal coach. I've been working with Doug for a couple of years now and he has helped me through injury back to racing my 4th IM 70.3 for a PR. We are now training towards my 1st IM 140.6. His coaching is very personal and he takes the time to get to know you, your goals, time available, etc.and works up a plan specific to your needs. He reviews each of your sessions and provides insight and advice. His approach to Triathlon training is unique and as a 3-time Kona qualifier he knows what it takes to be successful. Whether you're training for your first Triathlon or a seasoned veteran looking to PR your next A race, I highly recommend Doug at Gu3 Training. He can get you there and you will have fun doing it.

I’ve known Doug for five years now and would highly recommend anybody use him for marathon, triathlon or any fitness training. Doug is a great coach and motivator. He has tremendous knowledge, vast personnel experience and a knack for knowing just the right way to encourage and motivate.

I have been a triathlete for about 30 years and for the first 26 years I never used a coach, thinking I did not need one as I had good results, thinking I was as good as I was gonna get at that point. This changed in 2016, when I decided to tackle a full Ironman again after doing only one back in 2005. I wanted to have a coach being afraid for overtraining and I wanted somebody with experience. After a long research, Doug was my coach, he was from the first moment I talked to him so knowledgeable about Ironman, that I realized I found the right coach. In the back of my head I even started to believe that one day I was gonna be able to get to the starting line in Kona with his help.
And yes I accomplished my dream as I qualified in September 2018 for Kona 2019. Not only did I accomplish that with his coaching, he also coached me to several podium places in IM70.3 and Worlds 70.3, and I also qualified for the Boston marathon and accomplished a PR in Boston 2019.
Doug is highly knowledgeable about the sport of Triathlon and he is also an excellent running and swimming coach. On top of that he is very approachable and will take time to answer every question you ask him. And not to forget he will train with you, no matter what level you are at!
