This place is a welcomed surprise! Nice people and the food is event better! Don't forget the dessert!

Extensive specialty mexican menu. The food is fresh and very good and lots of variety. I highly recommend this little restaurant the menu is wonderful!

That Cali Burrito is incredible! Everything was fresh and delicious! Friendly staff, decent prices, and good portion sizes. Cannot wait to come back!

Arrived about 11: 30am last Saturday, excited to try a new place. It wasn't open. Disappointed. Nothing on the internet suggested it was supposed to be closed.

Had been wanting to try Happy Cactus for quite some time after several friends had recommended it. Finally got there on a last minute dinner decision on a Tuesday just before closing time. Started with a couple margaritas and the chips and salsa flight. The guacamole salsa was the best of the three with the hot salsa having a great kick to it. The chips were cooked to order and so fresh. Dinner was chile rellenos and carnitas tacos. As a typical go-to dish for me, the Guanajuato Relleno was probably the best I've ever had. Fast and friendly service as well. Looking forward to returning soon.

First time here and deciding what to order took some reading. Their menu is very different than other Mexican restaurants in the area. I ordered Mineras with Chorizo as the meat. It was excellent with a mildly spicy flavor. It came with a side of black beans over rice. Over all a very nice light lunch. Service was excellent and the atmosphere very Mexican. One of the few places I've had chorizo that it wasn't dry. The entire menu is based on authentic Mexican cuisine so you'll find things here you've not seen in other restaurants.

You wanna be ignored, come to the Happy Cactus. After waiting to be seated, 20 minutes went by at our table and no one came to talk to us. I flagged down a server to ask for a drink menu and she acted like it was a burden. Several servers walked by us and no one even got our drink orders, no chips, no water, no “we’ll be right with you”. It was a Monday night and not super busy, we actively flagged down 3 different servers and no one recognized us, our party of 5 was just being straight up ignored. The menu looked great.

Nice to find other great Mexican dishes you hardly see like chiles en nogada. Service was great and I loved my enchiladas.

I went for the first time yesterday. Not alot of people in there and it just smelled like an old place. But the servicer was very knowledgeable and friendly. The complementary salsa and chips were amazing and very fresh! The torta on the soft and fluffy bread was out-of this world good. It was like a Mexican sandwich. Amazing. I will definitely be back!

I’m from San Diego, and came here to try the California burrito. It was decent. I removed a star because it’s 2x as expensive as any cali burrito I’ve had in Southern California.

Took off another star because it’s 1/2 the size of a standard Cali burrito.

Perhaps most importantly, I took off a third star because after paying SIXTEEN DOLLARS plus tip for a burrito, I was about to walk out, and asked for a side of red salsa. To which they CHARGED ME 50 cents! I had to pull out my wallet and pay for a side of red sauce to put on my overpriced burrito. I’ve never heard of a Mexican restaurant charging for a side of hot sauce. I’ll stick to the place that’s closer to my house in Dunedin.

I’m not sure how this place got 4.7stars out of 5 but in no way was that deserving of our meal today. The drinks were watered down of which we ordered a house margarita and pina colada. Took 45min to get any food of which when it came out was partially warm. The largest complaint was the lack of seasoning. Tasted like there was no salt added at all. Crema was bland. We spent 75$ on lunch which was disappointing.

I don’t write reviews often but this place deserves it. This food was absolutely amazing, the staff was so friendly and attentive.
I could eat there everyday. If you haven’t been here yet, you are missing out.

If you want authentic, fresh and homemade Mexican cuisine… look no further. Happy Cactus is by far my favorite restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious. They recently added to their menu and they now have Tortas. I can’t say enough good things about the Happy Cactus so go try it for yourself, you will be glad you did!
