HCA Florida Englewood Hospital

August 2023 update;

I wrote a previous review on Englewood Community Hospital's effectiveness in treating a rare blood infection which nearly took my life. It turned out to be sepsis. If it weren't for the quick response of the medical team I would not be writing this review. I can assure you, ECH saved my life!
I recently brought my 16 year old daughter into the ER for high fever and vomiting. She was de-hydrated. She was very sick. The nurses were very friendly and compassionate as was the doctor. He explained everything to both of us. They began an IV and sent her home with a nausea prescription. She felt like a new kid! I am truly surprised at some of the postings. My family and I have had nothing but positive experiences at Englewood Community Hospital and will continue to trust this facility.

Want to thank all the kind nurses who cared for me at HCA Englewood hospital on 9/6/23. I've been to the hospital multiple times over the years but wanted to thank the people that ALWAYS go above and beyond to make a patient comfortable.

Just had a repeat procedure with my other kidney on 10/4/23 same nursing staff. Words could NEVER be enough to express my gratitude and respect I have for all of these true professionals.
Y'all make my time at HCA Englewood Hospital worry free.

I had a great outpatient experience that was miles above my expectations. From the friendly, efficient volunteers at the front desk to the registration staff to the radiology department, I was treated not only with professionalism but as if they really cared about me. Kudos to the management for setting the tone.

This was my 1st time using Englewood Community Hospital & I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice the facility is.
The bonus factor was the employees that made my stay wonderful, they were all so helpful & informative. My doctor & his staff were also super fantastic. The cardia cath lab blew me away with its sleek & modern equipment! I couldn’t have been happier with my experience, I would give 6 Stars if I could

Highly do not recommend.
I checked in last week on Monday the 18th of September with a 547 sugar blood glucose level.they did the normal things taking blood etcetera gave me a room.after about an hour and a half a nurse said I was going to be staying the night.then about 45 minutes later somebody came in and said that several ambulances had shown up and I was being sent home with metformin and Glipizide pills.lucky for me I am a patient at the local VA and they had me come in the following Wednesday. 2 Days Later where I had a 541 blood glucose level.the nurse at the VA sent me directly across the street to Doctors Hospital in Sarasota where I stayed from Wednesday till Friday at 1: 30. I had continued using the metformin and Glipizide pills but the hospital gave me insulin shots which brought me down to around 275. Doctors Hospital everyone could not believe that Englewood Hospital had let me go with such high blood sugar levels.if I hadn't gone to the VA two days after Englewood Hospital let me go home with inadequate meds and instructions I probably would have gone into a coma as I was borderline diabetic ketoacidosis. I can only imagine that those few people who came in after me would require higher Services earning the hospital more money than what my diabetic issue would have gotten for them and that must be the reason why they let me go home too early.with inadequate meds and inadequate information and inadequate doctors. I do not suggest anyone with major issues to use this Hospital.try to get to the Venice hospital or up to doctors at Sarasota as they were much higher in professionalism.care.and information as well as sending me home with the proper medications. I think in hindsight we can all agree that Englewood Hospital dropped the ball on my situation.who knows how many other people has had this happen to them.you're taking a chance going to this hospital. I would rather drive all the way to Sarasota with full sickness than to drive 5 minute over to Englewood Hospital

And just so everybody knows I am 100% service connected combat veteran of Operation Desert Storm and this is how they treated me

Staff was very attentive and professional. I spent too much time in the ER (6 hrs) but I understand there was a shortage of beds. Maybe consider other arrangements for ambulatory patients. Get the kitchen straightened out- I was served the wrong breakfast my first morning. My nurse Sean and Kandi, the nurse practitioner get gold stars.

Many thanks to the entire team who helped me through my left heart cath today at Englewood Hospital. I appreciated the friendly volunteers who greeted me at check-in and and the wheelchair ride down to (and from) the prep area. Tammy made sure I was informed about my procedure time the day before and took amazing care of me from start to finish. She even ensured that I had a good breakfast after the procedure. So many team members took great care of me…. Tammy, Joe, Kyle, Janet and Mallory…and others I’m sure I am forgetting. Earlier this week I had a similarly positive experience with registration, pre-op bloodwork and chest X-ray staff all providing top notch care. This was my first experience at this hospital and I recommend this location to anyone without reservation.

I arrived at the ER with my husband this morning. Annette, his nurse, was very efficient, kind and professional. She was wonderful and made our visit pleasant. We can’t say enough good things about her! My husband’s doctor was great! Dr. Sandhu was very compassionate and knowledgeable. He knew what was wrong with him after asking a couple of basic questions. We were in and out in an hour and a half. Thank you!
