HCA Florida Largo West Hospital

I arrived here on 1/29, of course very anxious the nurse in the er part of the psych ward was very hostile. And very eager to give me something to calm down.
Then I was moved to the 2nd floor of the psych ward where I met with a doc once and basically just felt laughed at and misunderstood.
Anytime I would ask to speak to the doc I was told he’ll be by later.
The nurses did their best and tried to explain everything to the best of their knowledge.
The next day I was moved to the 5th floor the “ retreat “ floor.
This is where I realized I had been prescribed meds before seeing the doc again? I was diagnosed before speaking with a psychiatrist.
I was misnamed multiple times and even given a urine cup with the same girls name multiple times. I corrected them 10 times. I even had a blood doc not sure what she’s called visit at 5am screaming something at me that was another patient information.
There is no 1 on 1 time with anyone. No therapist, no doc. You see nurses and techs more than you see anyone.
At the end of the day I’m home and the groups did help me. I wouldn’t say so much the docs did but the group of people understanding and going through the same thing HELPED major! I did leave with 5+ scripts.

We have referred our patients in need of Urgent Psychiatric Intervention to this hospital and will continue as they have been the most successful with getting our patients stable and treating them with respect and dignity along the way. Unfortunately, I can’t say this for most Hospitals but our practice will continue to use them as a resource. It has had the best possible outcome for any of our patients whom have needed crisis services or in need of a higher level of care.

I was recently a patient at HCA Emergency Department when I thought I had COVID. I asked if I would be able to be tested and if negative still pick up my Son from school in time (which would be within an hour) and they said they would do their best. They did! I was happy to hear it wasn't COVID and was in and out in 45 minutes with time to arrive on time.

The nurses here were kind during my stay in the Resort. They were willing to sit and talk about whatever was bugging me. The night nurses were inconsistently nice although. The float nurses on Christmas were having difficulties with glucose checks and one nurse was particularly rude.

My husband suffering from psychosis stayed there west wing7 days.the nursing staff & all others i met there were wonderful.helpful efficient kind & understanding.the place is very clean.my only complaint was i never heard or saw a dr about his diagnosis.the nurses only have limited info of course.even tho he was still exhibiting some auditory hallucinations & i told this to the social worker liason that i was concerned, he was still discharged w/scripts & told to follow up w/his primary dr & find a psychiatrist.its taking weeks for his 1st psychiatrist appt. & the meds are not helping the delusions.a nurse did call 2 days after discharge 2 check on things. & she said if he got worse to bring him to the ER @ west largo.mental illness is a nightmare for the caretaker too & i wish the drs took time to speak & explain the possibilities & prognosis of each patient to us.it would be a huge help.

Update since last post on the 29th. 60% of the nurses and techs were very sweet and tried their best to be attentive (but that was impossible due to being so under staffed). However the lack of unprofessionalism, lack of pride and ultimately care about the patient was unsettling. I was not provided drugs that were signed off on by the nusing staff, I was not assisted with a bleeding catheter when I requested it, I had to change the sheets on my bed on my own. After requesting them, I had to request basic toilitries, was left unattended an entire night
This I had to request my own medications and so on and so on and so on. I only stayed the 4 days as the procedure I was undergoing was being done by an outside company. I canceled the surgery that was to be done at Largo hospital and asked to be discharged as I no longer felt that my, health, safety, and welfare was the priority.

The female staff were excellent. But the doctor Dr. Paudo was arrogant and very ignorant and so was the male nurse who was on duty tonight he stabbed me in my arm to find my vein and he failed to ask me which arm I would like to have the IV in. He was also very ignorant and arrogant. Other than that the hospital was very clean and sterilized Sincerely Ms. Vernice. Allen

My grandson was seen in the ER this am after having a high fever, wheezing, and lethargy. Upon arrival my daughter told the triage nurse she was concerned about him having RSV. The triage nurse responded by saying, "You know there's nothing that can be done about RSV. It's just a cold. " Well RSV is more than just a cold and where's your compassion? You can do better. Turns out he has covid

My mom was here for rehab for a brain injury for about about two weeks, and the therapists were so genuinely, incredibly helpful.

I don't know that there's another place I could have imagined her being right after her injury, and I wish I could do more than leave a 5-star review.

Charles, Mo, Alexa, Kaitlin, and the rest of her team (that I wish I could remember the name of!) were absolutely incredible. And for follow-up information, Gerard the case manager worked with me for a few days - pretty much every day - on helping me find people to contact for continued support and rehab once she left.

The staff is very professional and easy to work with. Great work environment and very client centered and intensive care for patients

To give this place any more stars would be a joke. The food is always cold. I sit in my own urine all night. No body wants to work. The nurses spead rumores about you. Stay away. If you get a nurse named Olimbio change fast.

I was transferred from NORTHSIDE HOSPITAL TO HCA FLORIDA LARGO WEST HOSPITAL ON 1/09/23 to rehab from major abdominal surgery. I spent 9 days in rehabilitation with PHYSICAL and OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY 2x daily during my stay. The THERAPISTS who worked with me were fantastic, they knew I was willing to work as hard as possible, and they all worked with me to recover. The nurses did a great job of caring for all my other needs. My only complaint was that the food was cold by the time it was driven from LARGO MEDICAL CENTER to LARGO WEST. Whenever I asked, the nurses were able to reheat my meals in their microwave! For anyone needing to rehab from surgery or an accident, I highly recommended HCA FLORIDA LARGO WEST REHABILITATION FACILITY.

I was seen this morning in the emergency department and was given outstanding attention and care starting from the ladies at the registration desk, Latorreia and Katherine, to the charge nurse, Jeff and the stellar and thorough attention of Dr. Steele. They were able to diagnose and provide reassurance and care far beyond anything that I have ever experienced in an emergency department. All this from entrance to exit in slightly more than an hour! Thank you and kudos to you all! Keep up the excellent work!

Went to the hosp on christmas day 12-25-22
for my back and armand legs and dr Steele was very good got rid of all my pain.thank god for him.thank you mr Steele

Great staff very efficient! Nurses and Security were great, Doctors were very through and took time to explain everything when I did not understand some things. 10/10

You can get in pretty quickly in the ER. The staff are helpful and kind. They drs are great here!
