My rheumatologist called to go to ER. Got in quick and started IV of sodium/chloride. Put on oxygen when the alarm went off at 80/85. Left with 100. Amazing work.

The ER DOCTORS and nurse were fantastic, but the information given to me turned out to be a dead end run around. I was told that Dr. Shanahan office would see me the following day and that his phone was beening reconnected. But I did what I was told to do the next day but still no Dr. Shanahan office were not open. With the pain getting worst by the day I had no choice but to go to St. Joe's south where I was treated and they made an appointment for me the same day to see Dr. Afesllari at Total Foot and Ankel. Dr. Afesllari was able to solve my problem with my foot.

I have generally had great experiences with the ER at South Shore Hospital; however, on my last visit, my doctor contacted the ER and told them that he wanted me admitted (which I did not discover until 2 days later). The ER doctor would not admit me even though I asked if I should be admitted (not knowing that my doctor had already requested it). Not being admitted as my doctor requested has caused me additional pain. As an aside, not being admitted also caused me to incur an additional expense in having to pay my co-pay for the ER visit.

Good experience. They took care of me without a long wait, staff was pleasant and took care of my needs in examination room. Doctor was pleasant and was able to diagnose with no problem. The only thing that was not done is a report sent to my primary physician. I had a previous visit at the ER a year ago and they sent the report to my doctor. This was not a problem, but it was just a missed stepped. Overall good experience.

The very worst experience I've ever had in any ER. There isn't enough space here to explain the incompetence experienced in the personnel and the goofs made in the 5 hours we were there. On a scale of 1-10 you get a -5! ‍

Got in within 3 minutes, care was excellent, nurse Dawn took great care of my husband's lacerated arm. We were in and out in about 1 hour. Emergency room is great. Nurses are awesome and care about their patients. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

It was a terrible experience and one I will never repeat. I was ignored and treated as if I didn't know what I was talking about. I went because my blood pressure was high (160) and when I got there, they said it was 187. Tests were done but nothing negative I guess. The doctor told me 187 wasn't high and I should go home and go to bed. The high pressure was due to stress and there was nothing they could do. The nurses were very stand offish and in my opinion, not very professional. I have been to this hospital for many years and this was my last trip.

I was not examined, was told I had a respiratory infection, give a shot by someone who never gave an injection, and was told I didn't need antibiotics. I did need antibiotics, I still do! I have not been able to rid my body of this infection yet, I need antibiotics to kill this infection! Please, help me!

The worst ER visit I have ever had! Avoid this ER if at all possible.the doctors were great but the nursing staff could use further training. The radiology dept personal were excellent. As a retired ER nurse I was extremely disappointed in the nursing care

Absolutely nerve recking. Went in for chest pain and dizziness. Blood pressure was 196/82. They took the EKG which was ok and sent me back to the main waiting area. About 45 minutes I went to the back to another waiting area with a recliner in it for 2 hours no one came to take blood, x-rays or even introduce themselves to get further information on what was going on. I take. That back the registration came collected my insurance gotta make sure they get their money or course. Doctor came at 2am never looked at the EKG that was laying on the table. Asked me how could he help me when I proceeded to tell him my symptoms of chest pain aching arms my upper back hurting and digestive pain and headache. He said must be COVID? I told him I tested negative he insisted I get a test because body aches mean COVID, he then pressed on my chest which I told him hurt and look perplexed. He also stated they would do a chest x ray. He left and for 40 minutes no one came, no nurse, no tech, nothing. We left and went to Baycare where I was admitted within an hour due to my chest pain/ extremely high blood pressure they were worried as I had underlying health conditions and got my situation under control quickly, spoke with the cardiologist and have follow up scheduled already. Had I stayed at HCA I could have died. Never will I intrust my health to them again.

Admitting through the emergency room. Great care and compassion shown to me. I was in major pain with blood pressure out of control. I was stabilized and admitted where I received excellent care for over a week.

I was surprised that an ER waiting room had no supervision. I couldn’t find staff. Finally I used emergency wall phone for cardiac emergencies because I was choking. Someone came out shortly. Dr.was comforting and explained plan of action. Nurse was a little stressed I sensed. All in all I would prefer to find another alternative to this E. R.due to the slow response time and number of people in waiting room.

My grandfather, Lou, received excellent care at this hospital back in June. Thanks in large part to the staff’s TLC, he transitioned smoothly from the hospital to rehab and now to a very nice assisted living. Big shout-out to occupational therapist, Susan, and case managers, Tai & Carmen, for going above and beyond to help my grandfather. Thank you so much!

Doctor didn't spend 5 minutes with me. Spent most time waiting. Registration person did not update my PCP, even when I told her, and she acknowledged it per my medical card. I pointed it out to the discharge nurse. Also, I was not given any pain relief until I complained to the nurse.she said that the doctor probably forgot so I waited while she got a Percocet for me. She said that the doctor was only going to give me a ibuprofen. Useless waste of time with no relief. At least two antibiotics were prescribed and I had to go get them at Publix. Costly $120.00 waste of time and lesson. I will not make that mistake again.

Thank you for this opportunity to share my thoughts regarding HCA. It was a busy night at the ER. I had fallen earlier and was in pain with scrapes and bruises on my right leg. I appreciated the CT scan and x-rays that indicated that nothing was broken. However it would have been nice to have someone at least look at my leg to see the injury. No one ever saw the scrapes and bruises. Maybe an antibiotic would have helped. If the ER physician spent 3 minutes with me it would be an exaggeration. "Nothing is broken. Contact an orthopedic next week" is all I received. Didn't even come in beyond the curtain. That was a week ago and I am still hurting. I do have a follow up to this week. Not the best care. RNs were fine. Physician wasn't the best around. Thanks.

My husband and I were very impressed with the excellent care I received at South Bay Hospital May 11-13,2022. Everyone involved in my care from the emergency room personnel to the doctors, nurses and tech support charged with my care once I was assigned to a room were professional, knowledgeable and caring. Dr. Garcia took time to explain exactly what was happening with my heart which I appreciated and really helped me to understand my condition. Very grateful to everyone involved in my care.
