HD Roofing and Solar, Longwood FL

Storm damage had left my solar powered house leaking. HD Roofing, and Solar consultants, Justin And Nicole Jones, were very professional and courteous in their assessment of my situation. They were helpful in working with my insurance company from the beginning until the completion of the job. With damage both inside and out of my home, HD sent various crews working simultaneously to accomplish the removal and replacement of my solar system, the replacement of my roof, and the repair/painting of interior areas within my home. These efforts required timely visits to my property. Nichole Jones, consultant, went above and beyond in keeping me in the loop regarding the progress of such visits. The quality of work and materials provided by HD has been top-notch. I would recommend them to anyone needing help in the arena of services HD provides.

Our neighbor recommended HD Roofers to us, and they replaced our roof in an efficient and professional manner. We were very pleased with the quality of their work.

In addition to the roof, they also installed our solar panels, which are working wonderfully. Their representatives also graciously answered any questions which we had and explained the process thoroughly.

After we had storm damage to our roof, HD was instrumental with dealing with our insurance company and replacing our roof. We had several issues after the job was completed but HD sent out a crew to rectify. Our roof looks great.

We just recently had our roof done and it went very well. Hunter Lee was very professional to work with. Peter and his team were also very wonderful to work with and were extremely responsive to our need and concern. Everything was resolved to our satisfaction and we strongly recommend Hunter, peter and their team.

Terrible communication. Terrible quality of work. Terrible sense of urgency to evaluate and fix original poor work. Terrible clean up. There is dips in the roof that look like something is wrong with plywood underneath or maybe just not replaced. Asked for our a piece of metal that has north west south east be removed…. They took it down to shingle then put it back up ONE facing the wrong direction and it was crooked which you cant see in photos because my husband went up there himself to just cut it off. These are just some nails I found just today in my sons play area. Ive already picked up more in the past 3 weeks in orher area of the yard. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. I am truly disappointed

I'm delighted to share that HD Roofing Solar truly exceeded my expectations. Their comprehensive service made them a one-stop shop, seamlessly handling both roofing and installing my new AC unit. This company is a nightmare to work with. During demolition of our old barrel tile roof, they used hammers to break the original tile loose (which is normal), but managed to put their hammers through the lead flashing multiple times in several areas around the house. That flashing had to be replaced (including fresh stucco and paint) before the reinstall could begin. During reinstall, two areas had to be completely redone three times! Every day there was something they did that was professionally embarrassing for them, whether that was due to lack of experience, attention to detail, sheer incompetence or even in some cases, a lack of employee integrity. After they finished our roof, we had new leaks that never existed before, and when they found those fixes, there was no way to identify which of the many crews made those mistakes.

Today we continue to have issues with our “new roof”, but HD is unresponsive. We called, left messages, then sent certified mail months ago to no avail. The most recent issues that we’ve uncovered with our roof (by a reputable roofing company) reveal that HD covered a rotten section with peel and stick underlayment without replacing the plywood they were contracted to do. These areas are so rotten, you can put your finger through them, and you can also see where their hammers went though the plywood during demolition! They knew about it, but tried to cover it up. We are now in the process of methodically uncovering an overabundance of negligent conduct; my hope is that we will not need re-roof the entire home.

Now, most of the original folks that worked for HD seem to have left the company. We truly had no intention of complaining publicly because it’s exhausting to go through this. But now that we’re uncovering yet another section of mistakes that they likely knew about, I decided it was finally time to warn anyone who is considering HD Roofing for their roofing needs. Don’t be fooled by the 4.8 stars!

Update 19OCT: I am sad to report that we have a Roof Failure due to HD's many code violations: to start, our entire roof has battens secured with regular roofing nails (see photo), instead of Stainless fasteners as required by FL code for coastal properties. In less than two years, these roof nails have rusted, leaving 100's of current and/or future leaks.

Update 21OCT: All ridges and valleys are galvanized metal; they should have used stainless. The galvanized nails they used on our aluminum drip edge are showing signs of electrolysis. Even worse, they shot nails upward through the drip-edge at a 45, through the facia, the plywood sheathing, and penetrated the poly-glass membrane from below, ruining the water-tight seal. This reckless technique may have been used around the perimeter of the home. It also appears that galvanized metal was used for the flashing. How can a roofing company keep their license after something like this? And where was the inspector?

Update 3NOV: Photo 2 shows how they covered the old under-lament with Poly-glass, instead of stripping down to bare plywood. Had they done this procedure correctly, they'd have discovered the rotten plywood and rotten truss (Photo 3) which has since been "sistered" by a reputable company. HD also maintains they used materials as "recommended" by FL building code, however, they seem to be unaware of the following:

Tile fasteners used in coastal building zones, as defined in Chapter 16 (HighVelocity Hurricane Zones), shall be copper, monel, aluminum or stainless steel. ]
-"Shall" is the smoking gun. KNOW where you live, and KNOW what materials are required for your home. A re-roof permit only requires the Manufacturer's Specifications for the tile, and nothing else. The rest is on the roofing company to know the codes for your area; ultimate liability falls on the license holder, not the inspector.

Update 7NOV: Attorney retained; Form 558 Demand Letter mailed. We will recover every penny wasted on HD; their mistakes are obvious and indefensible.

HD Roofing and Solar has been a great choice. We installed a new Roof and Solar Panels in 2022. My average Duke Energy bill is $36.50/month. Rodrigo from HD just came by to inspect and he let me know all is well and if there are product improvements, they will make the swap out at no charge. Long term service is a rarity and it is appreciated.

After encountering some minor hiccups, I reached out for support, and Jerry Valentine's punctuality and professionalism at HD Roofing and Solar left a lasting impression. He promptly assisted me, ensuring a positive and efficient experience. I highly value his commitment to customer service. While issues are inevitable in major construction projects, the way everything was handled by the company was truly commendable. They made it all their responsibility, making the overall service experience hands off and amazing. Definitely recommend!

I had problems with their crew disrespecting my property. Constantly blocking my driveway, leaving debris in my driveway, which caused a flat on the rear tire of my Harley-Davidson. Incessant calls in the middle of my job without regard to my schedule. Constant last minute surprises with inspections, but most of all, they sent me a "balance due", which I paid then they followed up with yet another "balance due", and while I'm trying to refinance, they put a lean on my property until their "additional costs" were paid. Pay attention to what they are doing and don't allow them to be the intermediary between you and the insurance company.

Edward McNulty saw me and my girlfriend on the side of the highway and stopped to help us and at no expense. He was kind, friendly, and even changed our tire. If he’s willing to go out of his way to do that for a couple strangers, I can’t even begin to imagine how excellent of a worker he must be. God bless you and thank you for what you did for us. You truly are an example of what a good person and great man should be and you deserve to be recognized for it. Thank you again for everything!

HD Roofing well don't really know what to say, was given a qoute, of which was then jacked up for to make a bigger profit was what I was told! Roof leaked and my front room ceiling was damaged, of which they took credit, but then billed me for the repair a few (Thousands Dollar) Replaced the Guese neck (5times) Beat it in with a hammed the way it looked and tried to put a brown one on a black roof. I would never have HD Roofing working on anything I own again. NEVER AGAIN THEY ARE SCAMER IN MY EYES! Picture of ceiling poor job done.
