Helgemo and Liou Pediatrics, Port Charlotte FL

Our six children, over the past 11 years, have been attending this practice. Dr. Helgemo, Dr. Liou and Kristy Carey, ARNP, are wonderful. There maybe a wait, at times, however in my personal opinion, they are taking time with their patients to listen to questions parents may have regarding their children. They have a sick and well room, have parking, and checking in and out are quick and easy. Thank you for offering, our children, the best care possible!

Leave us at regularly for check ups, and health checks as they come along they have always been patient and always welcome to the children.

I scheduled a sick appointment for my 1 year old and waited over 45 mins past my SCHEDULED appointment time with the nurse practitioner. My sick toddler was miserable and crying the entire time and the waiting room repeatedly filled to the point of no seating. Twice I asked the receptionist what was taking so long and only got a “she got a little behind” excuse. On the second time asking, she went back and asked the nurse when I could expected to be seen. I was told an additional 10-15 mins ON TOP of the 45 I’d been waiting past my SCHEDULED appointment time. I said absolutely not and immediately walked out and went to a walk-in clinic where my toddler was seen immediately, no wait. After being a patient at this office for almost 2 years, I can’t say I’m at all surprised by them dropping the ball. This isn’t the first time I’ve waited an excessive amount of time past my appointment time. Not a single person even apologized for the inconvenience that was strictly their fault, apparently time management isn’t important to them, but they made sure to send me a “How’d we do” email the next day with a survey. This isn’t the first issue we’ve had with this office, the rude and belittling doctors are a completely different story, but it sure will be the last. Stay away at all costs. Find a different doctor that actually cares about your child as a patient and not just a paycheck.

Update: I was contacted by this office after posting this review an asked to take it down (they tried to intimate me) They did go over what I had written, with no resolve an supported Dr Ben (he owns the place) no surprise there. Before leaving this office I requested my childrens files an just like before it was a nightmare. It was literally 2 pages an took them over a week to produce. Glad we are no longer at this office. Good riddance.

I truly hate to give this office one star but after 8 years this place has really gone downhill quickly. When trying to make any appointments to must call the office, have the office transfer you to an OnCall nurse then wait two hours to possibly hear back? Sometimes you need to do this multiple times what exactly do the receptionist do in this office? The check in process is all online so why have them? Next is the wait time, if you have any appointment don't get there before your slotted time as your just going to sit in the waiting room for an additional 20 mins either way. The Girl doctors are good, Ben is very condescending an pushes off any worries you have about your child, even flipping them on the parent. Make sure after you're finished with your two hour appointment you double check that your pharmacy is the right one you put on file 2 years ago or you'll be driving around wondering where they sent your medications. The sick an well rooms have been changed back an fourth a few times so now it doesn't matter where you sit your gonna pick up something, so protect yourself an keep your kids off the floors.

Fantastic docs and nurses - we are new to the area and to this practice but we have had a wonderful experience and highly recommend Helgemo and Liou Pediatrics! My kiddo needed her physical for school and from the front desk ladies to the medical staff everyone is kind and welcoming. Inside is gorgeous with custom murals in each room and peaceful seaside colors in the hallways. We have been in the Turtle Room and Dinosaur Room so far!

My kids have going here for a few years now and I’m extremely happy with the switch. The staff is amazing and always able to get my kids in the same day when they are sick. The doctors are fantastic and always listen to your concerns. I highly recommend these providers.

I highly recommend. My son has been a patient of Dr. Liou's for 15 years and we love him. My son's 20 and time to move on but we hadn't found a new primary yet and they were able to squeeze him in for a small issue. We never wanted to leave. All staff, office and nurses were outstanding. Every single one. We will miss them all.

Highly recommend! This sick season has been hard on my three kids. We absolutely LOVE seeing Kristen and Gina! They both take the time to listen to my concerns as a parent and also talk to my children. If your looking for someone who is gentle with your kids Kristen or Gina are the ones to see! We have always had a great experience with the office. The staff is kind. They reply in a quick manner and always get us in fast for any concerns we have. The physicians are always kind and I feel they really take the time out to be present during the appointment and not just come in and out of the room.
