Heritage Oaks Veterinary Hospital reviews
17The low stars given for this vet and her staff is appalling. As a Nurse Practitioner, with over 20 years in medicine, how can you expect to refill prescription drugs for a patient who is not seen or examined? I can give scripts all day long, with refills, but you are still responsible for follow up appointments. It is just ignorant to expect any physician or practitioner to give medications to a patient, "in this case an animal" without seeing them. We are required by law to follow a patient regardless of "refill" status! She did you a favor by putting refills on your scripts in the first place. With, I am sure, the expectation of a follow up appointment at least yearly! If you are going to own pets then it is your due diligence to have the patient seen at least yearly. Things change at the drop of a hat, and that simple "asthma" could now become a severe pneumonia, yes I am a pulmonology nurse practitioner as well as an emergency practitioner so I know the ropes. So before leaving a nasty remark, do your part and bring your pet in for an exam. Food for thought, if you were sick and called your doctor, regardless of a "chronic" condition, would they want to see you, if they were any kind of responsible physician the answer is yes. They also probably told you to go to an Emergency vet due to an acute issue, this is not unreasonable, people come into my ER everyday with dental pain, shortness of breath, etc, and there is no way that I would send them out the door with meds without evaluating them and properly diagnosing them, that is the responsible/respectful thing to do. Don't expect anything different, and her asking for an appointment is not unreasonable. Your pet could have an acute issue that is far different from a chronic one. Let me tell you something, this vet found cancer in my dog that eventually I had to put down because I am a responsible pet owner and had tests done. Please if that is how you want to act then you should not have pets and seems like to me that you are trying to "get something for nothing". Shame on you, and I encourage you to take your dog to a shelter and give it a better life.
Kind, decent care. Excellent facility. The Dr.and staff listen and do a good job diagnosing and treating their patients. I would not however, recommend their services for geriatric patients. It’s very much their way or the highway when it comes to treatment options.
In spite of our own bad experience with an older dog, I would still recommend this facility for younger patients.
Do not recommend. Called to have my dogs blood drawn for a DNA send off. They told me to go to my primary vet. Im like are you serious? They said yes we do not do anything for any dogs or cats unless they are our patient. I'm like OK well I need veterinary services now wouldn't that make me a patient? So basically they are turning away future business.
I want to thank the staff for answering all of my families questions in reference to our dog Demetrius. Words can not express how great full we are for your assistance during such a hard time. Thank you for everything and we recommend anyone who is looking for a vet to please visit Heritage Oaks.
We found this veterinarian when we moved out here from Alabama I don’t really have a complaint about their services. But I do have a complaint about their appointments. They do not let you make an appointment for a day or two out they want you to go to urgent care for an emergency and I just don’t think that’s right. Call them on the phone and they just kind of brushed me off so will be looking for another vet I wouldn’t recommend them to anybody. We have been traveling back to Alabama to see our primary veterinary and they’re never have an issue he’s great looks like that’s what will be doing again can’t seem to find any reputable vets out here in Florida.
I’ve been taking my miniature schnauzer, Romeo, to heritage oaks for quite some time. I have no complaints. The staff is friendly, compassionate, and so patient with him. From the vet, to the techs, to front office - always willing to answer any questions. Dr. Vilchez is super knowledgeable and truly takes her time share info. From wellness visits, concerns, and dental cleaning - we are super pleased. Thank you!
Dr. Vilchez is the vet to go to. Cannot rave about her or her staff enough. Extremely knowledgeable. Have switched over several senior dogs from other vets that offered zero solutions or overlooked huge problems and the level of care is not even comparable. Heritage Oaks will go above and beyond to extend/improve your pets quality of life.
My bassett was bleeding from her mouth. I called was told to bring her right away. I was met at the door by the staff taken straight to a room. They found the problem gave her a few stitches and we were on our way. Would not take my baby anywhere eles.
I have been taking my two cats here for over a year. Was pleased with the vet and staff until now. I called yesterday to refill my cat's asthma medication. Had 3 refills according to the bottle. They didn't call me to say it was filled. Called this morning and talked to Katie (vet tech) who told me that I couldn't get more unless I brought my cat in for an annual exam. I told her that the medication is not optional since my cat needs it to prevent asthma attacks which make it hard for her to breathe and she is almost out. Katie finally agreed to give me more but only if I scheduled an annual exam and got her rabies shot. Nice vet tech. Showing some real care for your animals and whether they can breathe or not. I went to pick up the bottle and the refills now say zero. If you go here, do yourself a favor and ask for a written prescription if it is something you can get at a pharmacy.
As an update to my review: Had an appointment on 11/12/20. Had to reschedule due to incoming storm. Kevin at Heritage Oaks told me that I need to look for another vet due to my review since we aren't a good fit. Guess you aren't supposed to tell the truth about what is happening here. No regard for the fact that my cat still needs medication to breathe due to asthma. Totally unprofessional. Don't care about owner or pets which would be why we are not a good fit.
I take both of my Belgian Malinois here. One is a senior and one is a puppy. They have been AMAZING for both of them! No matter the issue from both age ranges of my fur babies they are responsive and caring. I feel that they are reasonably priced. The vet has always taken the time to explain things and answer any questions. The staff is always kind and friendly! You are never treated like a bother as I always have A LOT of questions. I highly recommend them!
Doctor Vilchez and staff are outstanding. Maybe a little pricey.but you get what you pay for
My ragdoll cat Caterpillar was not feeling well. I called 3 different vet clinics who told me they (weren't taking any new pets regardless if he is sick or not). Someone told me about Heritage, so i called. They saw my boy right away and didn't charge an arm and a leg. They didn't rake me over the coals with treatment plan, and told me they wanted to take a conservative route (and see how he does over the weekend) with the treatment plan they provided. I appreciate their diligence and their compassion for the pet owner as well as the pet. HIGHLY recommend.
I'm not sure who are writing these reviews but this is not the experience I had while talking to a cold and unfeeling receptionist on the telephone. Our 16 year old feral rescue we've had since she was 3 was having some respiratory issues and considering her age and the fact we had just spent over $1,500 4 weeks earlier trying to cure our 12 year old cat with cancer (he didn't survive) we just didn't have the money and called for a euthanasia. She told us she could do it in an about an hour, but since we only have one vehicle and it was being used for another member having cancer treatments I was unsure we could make it in that timeframe and asked if she had something else either later in the day or even the next day. She insinuated that she was doing us a favor by "squeezing us in" and the next available time they could do it would be the end of next week, in about 10 days, mind you this is a cat having difficulty breathing and possibly in pain. Cold.
Had to put my 13 year old Bella down. Everyone had such compassion. Now my new puppy is going there along with our beautiful cat.
These guys are truly professionals that care. Without a doubt the best vet we have ever had. I am so glad that we made the choice to take our pets needs elsewhere. Our pets dont have a choice but as owners, we do. We made the best one ever. Thanks for what you stand for and the honesty and integrity of your business
The staff are amazing! They are always quick to help and get my furbaby in as soon as possible for each and every time, Bella loves dr vilchez too! Thank you for all you do
Excellent place to bring your pets. Very caring staff and the vet doctor is so nice. They treat your beloved pets very well! Now have my clinic for my two fur babies.
