Hernando Sportsman's Club reviews
15Went to the club house where she told me what range to go and pay. I brought my gear and waited at the "please wait" blockade where multiple range masters and people ignored me for a solid 15 minutes. I left and went to another place where I had no issue shooting.
Great place! Great help too. Had 2 new guns and Randy showed me how to use them and saved my thumb. Thanks Randy.
First time at this place nobody explaines rules at all.and waited to put target up.the guy watched me get my target ready and then stopped me to tell me it was wrong.no explanation why just turned me around had to get someone else to explain to me why I couldn't put my target up.so I switched it around and then they called everyone back not giving me enough time to put it up.this place is run by a bunch of cranky old coots that will just yell at you for no reason I will never come back to this unorganized judgemental and dangerous range
Fantastic gun range, you can shoot from many distances. Just follow the rules and be safe, you'll have a great time.
I liked shooting there so much, I joined the club in July. Love shooting at the trap range with other shooters while the range officer, Chris Allen keeps things safe and fun.
This place used to be a good place to shoot. The last two times here have changed that. They decided that they should change the rules of their range on a whim. Steel at 100 yards only now. I know for a fact they were shooting steel at 50 yards with a pistol because I was here. I watched it happen. I will not give you another dollar of my money.
Great shooting range! Good people running it including the Marshall's that direct and keep everyone safe. They also will help you and answer any questions!
Love this place. From the ceiling fans and bean bags to the super friendly and helpful staff.
Very happy to have this range in my home county.
Thanks to all the people who make this place safe and friendly for all of us.
First time at this outdoor range. It seems like lots of room and friendly people. I talked with a couple of ROs who seemed to be very knowledgeable. In particular, Larry, who gave me the run down.
If you enjoy shooting or archery outdoors, this is the place.
8.16.20–The 2 star and lower reviews are accurate. Range staff is, for the most part, rude and arrogant. The volunteers seem less miserable than the paid staff. The two NRA Certified instructors are the only paid ones, which is even more confusing as to why they angrily stalk up and down the line and get visibly irritated when you dare speak to them. We’ll call him Holster Man. Like most cigarette smokers, you’re not going to tell them where they can and can’t smoke. So, Holster Man burns heaters while stalking his prey with cordless microphone up and down the line.
The steel range was reserved for a competition, so I was told. It didn’t seem like much of one though. Two guys, laying on their backs, shooting revolvers for two hours. Both “competitors” were volunteers (based on their matching HCSC shirts) that just didn’t want to share the range seemed more likely. I guess they have lots of two man “competitions” because those same two guys are always alone on that range. Part owners?
An outdoor shooting range with a great variety of shooting distances. The staff and officers we're great. The officers helped out a lot. Met a lot of nice people and I was able to shoot a couple of my guns that I wanted to shoot. Top notch on my list. I will definitely go back. And they offer shooting contest to participated in, or watch. Definitely family oriented or just you and your buddies. And you don't feel like someone is watching everything you do, like at indoor ranges. But they are very safe. I highly recommend.
SUPER AWESOME!
I've been wanting to visit this range for some time now and finally went today. $14
They had a great bunch of guys for R/Os.
I bring my own but they sell ear plugs, chamber flags, a good selection of paper targets, & I did hear someone purchased ammo from them though i dont know what kind they carry or prices.
The Open Range had 10yd, 25yd, 50yd and 100yd available today.
Cant wait to return!
Went today for the first time in a while. ROs keep things tight. They even had to deal with a lady who should not be by guns. Thanks Guys
The public range can be crowded sometimes on the weekend. The range officers are mostly nice but there are a few that can be a little full of themselves sometimes.
I also tried out a few of the matches they have on the weekend. Well run and safety oriented with lots of help for new shooters to the match scene like myself.
The clubhouse/concession area is a nice addition that most ranges lack.but the club driveway can be really rough sometimes if it's not graded and some of the facilities could use with a little bit of modernization/upkeep.
Overall a great place to shoot and have a fun time.
