Herschel Animal Clinic / River City Veterinary Hospital, Jacksonville FL

Drove there today to pick up monthly medicine for my little dog. As usual, they are efficient, fast, and friendly.

We have used Herschel for many years now and have never had a complaint, problem, issue, or otherwise. Great job with Bellatrix today! She got home and went straight to bed. Lol. You guys are awesome, keep doing your thing and have a wonderful and safe Happy 2021!

I’m not impressed with this clinic. We recently adopted a dog, and decided to take him for a vet visit here because it’s around the corner from us, so that he can get on flea medication (he didn’t need a full exam as he had this done at the humane society). I followed their COVID protocols, which is to call to check in once you are in the parking lot for your appointment. After calling, I waited 20 minutes in my car for a vet tech to come and get him. The parking lot was pretty busy. The visit itself only took a few minutes, they took my payment and I was on my way.

They said that he needed to come in the following week for a booster shot, so we made that appointment. This time I waited 30 minutes and the parking lot was once again incredibly busy (it seems like they make a bunch of appointments for similar times?). This is frustrating because I have to center my workday around these appointments, and the visit itself is fairly quick.

Outside of the appointment time predicament, I feel like I am just a number at this clinic. I interacted with more than one vet tech and I never felt like they truly cared about my pet and his well-being, as he is nervous about the vet. Especially the tech that helped me on my second visit. She was practically pushing me out of the parking lot and did not provide me with any information on where on his body he had his shot, or any after-care instructions. She also didn’t handle him very gently. He was in a lot of pain later that day, and I tried to call the clinic several times to ask questions about his shot - no answer.

I understand that it was a busy time and the process for the techs to walk back and forth to the parking lot is tedious, but if you are going to give poor service not only to me, but to my pet as well, do not schedule multiple appointments at the same time. I will be returning to the vet that we used for our older passed animal, even though it’s much further. I’d rather travel for a more caring and personalized experience for my animal.

We recently relocated to Jacksonville from Miami. I researched various clinics and read a lot of reviews but what captured my attention was the adherence to social distancing, professionalism and exceptional customer service. We are so happy that we made the decision to come to Herschel Animal Clinic. We dropped Yoshi off with the nurse and we didn't have all of his medical records and she even offered to call his previous vet office to get the medical records for us, unfortunately it was not successful so we will have to keep on trying. The physician called our cell phone and he was very pleasant and friendly. He gave us Yoshi's diagnosis and what next steps were needed and gave us time to ask questions and let us make our decision. Our poor Yoshi had an ear infection which meant he needed to be sedated and given medication. We were told that we had to leave him there for no longer than 30-60 minutes, we received a call immediately after the visit from the front staff telling us that he is ready to get picked up and good to come back home. We are extremely happy with our choice for our Yoshi and look forward to having a new provider for him to get his routine check-ups.

I had my first experience with Herschel animal clinic this week and I have been blown away by their quick, professional and accommodating responses. Scheduling was a breeze. After submitting a request online before business hours, I heard back from them when the doors opened and was fortunate to get my dog in that same day. In the midst of a pandemic I felt so at ease with my dogs care, even though it was our first visit. Dr. Sherman called me within 10 minutes of my dog being taken back, with an update and next steps. Robert and Angela were also key members in making me feel at ease and guiding me to answers to assist in the over all well being of my pet. Would highly recommend. A fantastic visit for myself and my dog.

They make it easy to schedule appointments and their prices for annual shots are great. The vet techs were very helpful and spent a lot of time with us and our dogs. Highly recommend them and will return when in the area.

I have had great experience my last furbaby I had taken there had cancer the staff was very comforting during the euthanasia which was very hard for me I will return with my new furbaby

I wish I had specific names to mention, but everyone was fantastic. They were recommended by a friend, and it was worth the drive from St. Augustine to find a place that is affordable that I trust.

Love the staff here! And price is very reasonable for pet care. And Escapè loves the extra attention!

My dog has been coming here for years. We are very satisfied with the care our dog receives. The staff members are friendly but it's gets super busy. Walk ins are welcome just be patience because the wait can be a little longer than normal. The facility is clean and the service is very affordable

The clinic is great, but without an appointment the wait is way too long & staff cannot estimate how long it will be. Made an appointment via their online appointment request, which appeared to have gone through just to call the next day & confirm to find out the appointment request was not received & the appointments for the next two days were already full.so, had to do a walk-in & waited over 2 hrs before we were seen. BTW.this is the second time I tried the online appointment request & that one didn't work either, maybe it's operator error.but, will not use online again, will call for appointment.

The staff is very professional and understanding. I really will not go to any other place. Keep up the GREAT work.

I don't recall their names, but the technician and the doctor seemed genuinely interested in my dog, Loki and the problems he is having and trying to help find the most cost effective way to help him feel better.

Very happy with service. Everyone was nice. It had been a long time since I had visited this office and I appreciate all of their updates. It is nice to make an appt so that you're not in a waiting room that's full of animals. I asked for an opinion about my dogs cleft nostril and was pleased with the amount of consideration that went into their assessment.

Super informative and completely willing to help! Was my dog's first visit and he was very nervous. They took the time to make sure he was comfortable and you can tell they really care about the animals! Definitely my new Vet!

I've been going there for years they are very gentle with your animals. I now live in Savannah GA and I travel to take my baby there now. It is worth it for sure.

They were super friendly and took really good care of my cat. You don't have to make an appointment but I totally recommend it. This clinic is always busy so even with an appointment you will wait past your appointment time but to avoid wanting hours schedule that appointment.

I loved the doctor.but the office. Waiting on a call regarding med for 4 month, today they said they called, but never left voice message.
Unsatisfied customer service for the first time. Also now I found out my dogs was mistreated twice, they said its allergies but is not. Now I'm taking to another vet for treatment.

I have been taking my buddies to herschel's for over 20 years. I miss some of the old staff. However, I like the improvements and the new staff. With their assistance my pets have lived and continue living long and healthy lives Visit them and see for yourself why I keep going back.
