Beware renting an electric vehicle from Hertz. Their contract has conflicting information around the percentage of battery you need to return the car with and they will charge you $35 if you return it less than 70% (which is difficult to prevent as electric chargers are not as ubiquitous as gas stations), even though their contract states if 'you return the EV with a charge level of less than 50%, you will be assessed a battery recharge fee of $35. ' Their customer service was not helpful and repeatedly ignored addressing this very specific language I pointed out in the contract. I'm surprised they're so willing to lose a customer over this.

I had an awful experience today with Hertz. Especially with their customer service representative on the phone However I'm giving the location a 5 star review because of the customer service was above an beyond at the site. I had trouble getting a rental I had booked and was in tears thinking my family and I would have to cancel our trip. A wonderful woman at the desk, deondra (I know I'm messing up the name) gave me helpful tips and was patient with me while we figured out options. Once everything was resolved She even gave me a hug realizing I was at my wits end. It's the little things that can heal an awful situation and make it that much better.

Hello! Can returns be made outside of business hours at this location? I need to deliver it at 7 AM and here they open at 8 AM. I read on the Hertz website that it is possible, but I need to know it from yourselves. Thank you,

First they gave away my car that I reserved. Then I was given a car with expired tags and got pulled over. My car also had a patch tire in the driver side rear so once we made it to our destination from Florida to texas our tire was completely flat. We had to take time out of our vacation to get it fix. Worse car rental ever!

The worst car rental company I have ever used. Hands off! First we arrived at the airport and had to wait two hours for our car. Unfortunately, after a few days we had to return because the stone chip spread in our windshield and the crack was in our field of vision. We were so afraid that the windshield would crack, but the lady at the airport just said that she didn't have a new car for us. But the whole parking lot was full of cars! The lady suggested we drive from Daytona to Jacksonville or to Orlando. With a crack in the windshield!

Hertz is the worst car rental company! The car I rented, the front bumper was falling off and had cigarette burn holes in seats. My 22 year old daughter was driving this car and lost all brakes and WAS FORCED TO STOP ON THE INTERSTATE. After 10 to 15,20-minute phone calls roadside assistance was absolutely useless. After sitting on the side of interstate for 4 hours, and then 2 more hours to get another car. The woman at hertz daytona airport was VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I called anyone that would listen to me from this so called 'company', I did not get anywhere. No mater what phone number you call at hertz, they all run you in circles. Finally someone Emailed me telling me to "reply to this e-mail" with my concernes, however it was not a valid/replyable e-mail address. Anyone rent a car from this company, All I have to say is: good luck.

Worst experience.

They didn't even clean the car before they rent it to other customers.

ALL THE GARBAGE FROM PREVIOUS CUSTOMER LEFT OVER IN CAR AND I CLEANED IT.

I want to give them zero stars but that is not possible, so I am giving them one. The Operations Manager at this location, Pierre Riachy, is incredibly rude, disrespectful, unhelpful and shows a complete disregard for safety.
Hertz gave me a faulty car that was shaking and leaning heavily to the left. They put me through hell for requesting to exchange the car. As if that was not enough, I arrived at this location and Pierre immediately cut me off and told me to disregard everything I was told because he didn't have a car (while there was hundreds outside, and Hertz owns Dollar as well as Thrifty so all those cars are possible). Me having driven 7 hours for a funeral, I tried to work with him and Hertz as I needed a safe car to transport family at a very difficult time. Pierre then felt it necessary to call the police to come tell me to sit down. I am queer, Latinx, nonbinary person whose life is constantly in danger, and Pierre for no reason (there was no threat, Pierre was way bigger and taller than me, and was behind a counter, there was no weapon, etc). Already stressed and anxious, now afraid for my safety while 3 cops surrounded me, Pierre decided to "not do business with [me]" and Hertz on the phone could not do anything about it. It was a very traumatic experience that prompted an intense panic attack later on.
When I spoke to Hertz, the white leadership, including Lori Barnard, said that calling the cops was "professional", and did not once take accountability for renting out unsafe cars. After the Black staff at the branch told me I would receive a full refund for this dangerous and traumatic experience, the "executive Customer Service" for Hertz said only one day of refund was warranted. Needless to say, Hertz will never see a dime from me again. My friend let me know that Hertz is ranked on sales and not service, so they do not take customer service as serious as they should. Do not give them your money.

I am being stuck with a $400 smoking charge and I DONT SMOKE! It has been impossible for me to get through to someone! I have called 30+ times and nothing. It is not fair that I am being punished for something I did not do!

First, I had a great experience picking this car up, really friendly and fast. Returned the car early and used the drop box as instructed. Imagine my surprise when I get an EXTRA CHARGE 130$ the next day because the car was returned a day late and also EXTRA CHARGE 99$ for a full tank of gas. Receipt says I returned the car one day late and empty gas tank and I'm thinking who is out driving the car after hours? Could not reach anyone at the branch, had to go through corporate and hopeful for a refund of additional charge PLUS ADDITIONAL HOLD 400$. Two stars as corporate seems to be handling it for me. Tough because there aren't a lot of alternate options here for rental so you get what you get womp womp.

Very bad car and bad service. Car fully insured doesn’t start I call for assistant I wait 30 minutes and the answer was you need to come to our office tomorrow and hung up the phone
I have no other choice than calling a taxi to return to my hotel

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. DO NOT USE. Highly disappointed in Hertz at the Daytona Airport. Booked a rental car, came to pick the rental car up at the time slot selected online. Once I arrived I was told that they had to give out vehicles first to everyone who booked before me to make sure they had vehicles left. WHY WOULD YOU ALLOW ME TO BOOK AND CONFIRM A RESERVATION ONLINE IF YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAVE VEHICLES LEFT? Now we have to "wait around" until they can check and see if they have the availability. ALL WHILE WE'RE WAITING AROUND WITH NO CAR. The representative couldn't even supply a time to come back. This was after already waiting in line for over an HOUR to pick the car up. Oh and see the photo below? I HAVE CALLED 15 TIMES AND NO ONE WILL ANSWER THE PHONE. WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER RECEIVED. DO NOT USE HERTZ!

WORST experience ever at Daytona Airport. One lady working & a non moving line. Then we hear people getting irate & find out WHY. Booked online thru Hertz site at 8 am to pick up today at noon, it’s 1: 15 pm & we are told we can’t have a car until the people that made their reservations before today ALL pick up theirs first! I’m lost. What’s the point of a RESERVATION SYSTEM then? ! Why even put a pick up time!? !? I have never heard of this ridiculous policy at ANY car rental company. And why isn’t that on your website or in the terms? So what am I supposed to come back at 11: 59 pm? ! NEVER again.

Was a Hertz gold member and happy. Booked thru dollar rent a car for my last trip which Hertz owns. Payed full price on internet search. Got to destination and charged another $212 intercity fee. Does not seem like they are ahead. For that fee they lost a customer forever. Going to Avis in the future. Why is short term greed to them better then long term customer satisfaction and retention. No wonder why they filed for bankruptcy.
