Decent location and reasonably responsive staff, but they never have what you reserved. Will work with you to find a solution as long as you are patient and somewhat accepting of their limitations.

Understaffed & stressed out employee! Returned later & another employee was working. He was helpful. Car wasn’t washed. Know it’s a small operation but more attention can be paid to details.

The most HOSTILE environment! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BRANCH!

(We asked the manager why he thinks his branch has such poor reviews, and he replied: “customers who have a bad experience are the ones who leave reviews, not the ones (I’m certain they are few and far between at this branch) who have a good experience. ”)

If a zero star review was an option, trust me, this branch has done everything to deserve it. NEVER rent from this branch. The Villages will be a happier place without its existence. It took 2 hours to retrieve the car we had booked through USAA, and that was the least damning part.

I would like to start by pointing out no employees in this branch wear name tags, nor do they introduce themselves. This is a huge miss in customer service, but given our experience, it is most likely something their manager requires. I’d imagine the excuse is that they have business cards available, but good luck getting a phone call back.

Due to the lack of names, I apologize for these descriptions, but it is all I can muster. A short man wearing an oversized, shiny gold watch, flashy earrings, a button down shirt with tight dress pants, and some Toms looking knockoffs (I.e. A little man with a big ego) refused us service because we hurt his feelings when he didn’t know his companies policy. His desk mate, a larger bald man, made faces and comments towards me as I spoke my native language to my self and my mother. Finally, we were serviced by the manager, I think, though he was the most casually dressed of any of them — in a sweat suit basically. He was lackadaisical & had the audacity to say “come on y’all it’s the holidays” after his undertrained staff failed their job remarkably.

On top of the horrid customer service — as the title states, it was a genuinely hostile environment — the truck we received was the dirtiest rental car I’ve ever received. They did not wash the exterior, nor appear to have ever made any repairs to the vehicle. Inside, there was an unpleasant smell that permeated throughout the week-long rental period, and the interior was … passable? There had clearly been a dog in the back seat on the previous trip, and the hair was everywhere. But otherwise it appeared vacuumed, and that’s about it.

Essentially, this branch is full of zombies who lack genuine happiness & don’t know how to treat humans humanely. I have not seen such a lack of effort or care in an establishment as is present within this branch.

Allow extra time. If a phone rings they take the call and keep you waiting. The personnel are extremely friendly. The car is cleaned in front of you and they take the time make sure you know all the controls on the car before you leave. They also walk around the car with you to inspect car for any damage and photo the car.

Ridiculous. Rented a manager’s special online and went to pick it up, only to find out they had no manager’s specials available but I was welcome to spend an additional $70 for a SUV as they had no sedans or to try on the following Monday, losing my week rate. The Hertz website says that it’s any car economy or larger and there were plenty of cars available in the lot. The two men working were very rude and laughed in my mother’s face. I will take my business elsewhere instead of falling for whatever con they’re trying to run here.

They failed to have a small child car seat for us, even though we had it reserved ahead of time. The only thing they had was a car seat for larger kids that was too big and not what we had reserved. Unacceptable, extremely inconsiderate, will never use them again.

UPDATE: After our rental ended, they charged me an extra $32 to fill up the tank, even though I brought the car back with more gas than when I picked it up! It was very difficult to get a hold of anyone to get it corrected. They didn't respond twice to my messages. They said they would text me a claim form but didn't. Then it took me waiting on hold to find someone to fix the issue. AVOID THIS PLACE!

Not happy. Car won't work. A 2023! Called roadside assistance they will NOT bring me a car. Expect me to travel 60 miles! To get another car. Ridiculous.

Again the windows inside the car look to have never been cleaned. The seats very dirty. I would suggest that you bring some paper towels or napkins to clean the inside windows before you travel so you are able to see if the sun is out or if you have to travel at night

When you reserve a car for 8am it should be ready. It's 8: 36 am and still no car. The guy at counter left with cleaning supplies. We have appointment at 9: 45 am and its an hour and 15 minutes away. Why don't they have more people working?

We wish we could give more than 5 stars.
We were very satisfied with the car and staff. Ryan was so nice and considerate with a big smile on his face when we picked up the car. Derrick was also nice when we dropped it off at Hertz in The Villages. There were no problems the car was clean and ran perfectly. I definitely recommend this Hertz team and location.

I will not be using Hertz (or recommending them) after my experience.

I booked a car online (through priceline) at this location for 8/12/23 @ noon. I was to return the car the very next day at the Sarasota airport. I was in town for a celebration of life that I was actually the main speaker at.

The plan was to pick the car up at noon and jet back to the celebration of life that was to start at 2pm. When I went to pick the car up I found that the location closed at noon and were unwilling to help myself or the others that had also been allowed to schedule a pick up for noon.

I do not understand how/why the site (s) would even allow us to schedule a pick up if they would not be open. I could have easily came earlier in the day, but, that had been the suggested pick up time.

The employees showed zero empathy when I explained my situation. I suggested calling a manager but was told I would just get a refund. I said that I did not need or want a refund, just a car as promised on my itinerary. Instead I was told if I hurried I could make it to an Enterprise location that was open until 2pm on Saturdays.

Apparently (from what I was told at Enterprise), this happens every single weekend. This is just unbelievable to me. How has it not been fixed?

In the end, Enterprise was able to get me a car BUT they don't do one way drops, so I had to pay a $200 fee to be able to drop the car off at the airport the next day. This was an unexpected expense to an already stressful and sad trip.

I cannot express in words the disgust I felt after leaving this location. I would give negative ratings if I could based off customer service skills alone.

It is my hope that Hertz will be able to refund me the $200 additional expense I was charged from Enterprise for the one way return.

HORRIBLE service at Hertz on Main St. Spanish Springs, The Villages, FL!

If we could give this business a minus score, we would! We reserved a car at this Hertz location for the dates of August 12 – August 16,2023. We didn’t realize this office closed at noon on Saturdays instead of 5: 00 P. M, so we admitted that was our mistake. However, human decency would suggest that if a paying customer, in fact 2 different paying customers, one of whom was trying to get to a family member’s Celebration of Life, arrive at 12: 05 and a clerk was still in the office, that clerk might be understanding and rent the cars. This was not the case. The employee was inside with the door locked and came outside for some reason and then walked right past all of us to go back into the office a few minutes later. To make matters worse, when we asked if we could get the car (s), explaining we didn’t realize the hours are different on Saturdays, he flatly refused. Not only did he refuse, but he got into a shouting match about it and told us to “grow up” and know what the hours are. He was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. His language was inappropriate and this was one of the most blatant examples of rudeness we have ever witnessed. We didn’t get his name, but he was a younger man working on this particular Saturday August 12. Both parties had all taken Ubers to get to this location and then had to take another Uber to a different car rental location in the area. We learned from others that this particular example happens every Saturday and the thoughts about this particular Hertz location are generally very negative.

We have found Hertz over the years to be a very reputable company, however we will no longer be using their services anywhere. The management at this office may want to rethink who they have working for them as this particular employee is driving customers away. This was quite an unsettling experience and very disappointing!

The car was dirty, the brakes were low and made noise when backing up. Cars in poor condition should not be rented. The agent while working with me was constantly interrupting by taking to other agents or people. Very poor attention. I have not received my refund for gas or $50 yet.

Oh wow how can a company take money out of your account with no explanation no email explaining the deduction or anything when the rental was already paid in full. If you want to get ripped off use hertz if not use enterprise. And the address on their phone and on Google is not the right address when you tell them about it they just say i know.

Horrible experience, extremely rude staff that screwed my family out of a rental car that was promised and we needed, I get mistakes happen but the arrogance and horrible attitudes was not only appalling but unprofessional, gonna beg every villager we know not to come here!

Hertz allowed me to reserve a rental car online, but when I arrived at the rental location, there were no cars available. The staff were respectful but unhelpful and I was left stranded, causing significant disruption to my travel plans. It's unacceptable for a rental car company to mislead customers like this. Overall, my experience with Hertz was extremely disappointing and I would not recommend them.

Rude. They Make you put down a $500 deposit. Not stated when renting online. Car was not ready when we got here. Payed for a car got an suv. Place is a joke.
