Telephoned in several times leaving detailed messages/questions for the Hess staff about an item for sale and then left voice messages for the boss Mr. & Mrs. HESS. NOBODY bothered to call back!
Looking over their reviews, I see similar comments, concerns and complaints. Life is too short to get POOR customer service.

Not particularly helpful, I asked for more pictures of an item at auction, and they couldn’t be bothered apparently. But they were quick to tell me what “experts” they were. I definitely will not be back!

My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Jeffrey Hess today. We brought in a few paintings for sale and he offered us a very fair amount for them. He and his staff are very personable, knowledgeable and straightforward. It was a pleasure doing business with Hess!

Terrible service!
Even worse, you go in with a valuables and they offer you pennies having you believe it’s not worth much at all. If you like to give your valuables and money away, this is the place to go!

Awesome and friendly staff!
They were very knowledgeable and informative. I had works from 1919 and 1937 and a collection from a local artist. My older art stumped them in their research as to who the artists were but they had great advice. Thank you for all your help.

My husband of 54 years passed away suddenly. I called J Hess to purchase some items. I asked him not to take advantage of me because I knew little about the items. He purchased gold and I found out I was paid less than I could have sold them for for scrap gold. One gun my husband had told me was worth $2,000. I was paid much less. I was very disappointed that this well known company was taking advantage of a widow. I don’t trust them and would not recommend them.
