Hog Pen Landing reviews
7Everytime we come to Florida hog pen is are go to place to stay on our way down we love it. It in the woods and that lake is awesome.
I don't know why people are complaining about this beautiful spot. There are homeless people here but they're paying to stay just like the rest of us. Mind your own business and things will be just fine. I personally love this spot. What more could you ask for with primitive camping. There are bear proof trash cans, clean vaulted toilet, beautiful hiking, camping spots on the lake and the area is regularly patrolled by park service. It's a must stop at 10 dollars a night!
Spent 4 days in beginning of Sept seen one wild boar an lot an lots of bugs. Couldn't even hardly leave the trailer couldn't go for walk. Was very nice besides that.
Visited my son and grandson camping very nice place if you need quiet.
Jen, the camp host, was super helpful and sweet - she spent half an hour giving me all kinds of helpful information about this site as well as others in the area. Unfortunately the whole forest was extremely wet and a lot of areas were completely flooded. This limited dispersed camping options. And this campground was basically full (might have been one available spot). But it’s pretty in its own way.
Very nice host; scenic and quiet place. Amazing campsite location just on the lake. Bear-proof trash cans everywhere and compost restroom at the end of the campground (just in front of the small day-use area). The day-use area closes at dusk and requires a $5 fee while camping is $10 a night. Make sure to bring exact change since fees are paid via envelopes. Also, bring firewood with you, they don't sell it like some state parks. Generally, the campsite has a picnic table and an in-ground fire pit (no grill). Unfortunately, reservations are not possible, first-come first-served. T-Mobile signal is acceptable.
