I had my son at HBC a few weeks ago and can't say enough how amazing the experience was. Agueda was my midwife, she is incredible. I had some trouble making it to and through labor at certain points (nothing alarming just stalled here and there), my baby didn't arrive until 42 weeks so naturally I had alot of anxiety as the days went past 40 week mark- and she as well as the birth assistant went completely above and beyond what a midwife normally does to help bring my son peacefully into the world the way i wanted so badly for him. It was a challenging process for me but they were so supportive and caring, i felt so safe and loved every step of the way. Agueda is truly an amazing soul and meant for this work. Cannot express enough how happy i am with her, and the entire HBC in general, they are an amazing birth center that carry a higher intelligence on how babies can and deserve to be brought into this world.

I would absolutely recommend this place to give birth in. They are accommodating, they listen to your concerns and you are not just one patient with a 15 minutes time frame like you would be in a hospital.

To put into words in this small space how amazing my birthing experience was with Viviana Jaramillo at Hollywood Birth Center would be an impossible task.

I came to Hollywood Birth Center mid pregnancy with my unexpected blessing. From the moment I had a meeting with Debbie about a home birth, I knew I was meant to be there. Although each and every midwife I met was amazing, the moment I had an appointment with Viviana I knew that she was the woman that was going to help me bring life into this world. I felt an instant connection with Viviana and then requested her as my primary midwife, and all other appointments were with her, along with her moving mountains to make it to my house for the birth of my son.

Viviana is meant to be a midwife. She is not only an incredible midwife, but an amazing human. She radiates positivity. The warmth and nurturing spirit she has allowed me to feel supported throughout my entire pregnancy and then able to birth my son at home. I could have never done a homebirth without Viviana's expertise and loving assistance. I experienced hospital births with my two other children, and knew that was not the route I wanted to go this time around.

My birth was not an easy nor quick one, and in my weakest moments I thought I would not be able to keep going, but with her love and guidance I was able to stay motivated to birth my son my way. Her vast knowledge and help is immeasurable. Viviana's attention to details during my birth was amazing and comforting. I knew both my baby and I were safe every step of the way. Viviana was hands on from the start. I was never alone, and was loved and cared for throughout my pregnancy, labor, and post partum care. I feel blessed and empowered knowing what my body was able to do.

Viviana is quick and during any unexpected moment knows how to react and respond. When I stalled during labor, she knew exactly what positions to have me do, that helped me progress. When I felt like I was going to give up, she was my biggest cheerleader, along with my husband and my incredible student midwife Micah. I could not have asked for a more loving and supportive birthing team.

I was treated with love, respect and dignity during my entire birthing experience. No question was off limits, and I was never made to feel like a bother with any questions or concerns I had. I am proud to say that Viviana was my midwife and now will forever be a cherished friend in my life. She is an angel in the flesh and I know the world is a better place because she is in it.

How can I find the words to explain how incredible and special the Hollywood Birth Center is? I have had five babies with the HBC and CANNOT imagine birthing with anyone other than Debbie Marin, HBC's veteran midwife and founder - that is how special she is. Furthermore, the assistant midwives who attended my births with Debbie were top-notch, wonderful women. For my most recent pregnancy, I truly experienced white glove service. I felt listened to, respected and empowered every step of the way. Deciding to have a natural birth, or a home birth, is not an easy decision to make in our day and age, but the confidence Debbie and the HBC gave me, and the comfort and safety I felt in their care, literally changed my life. (I had three hospital births before my five home births with the HBC so I know what hospital births are like. The medical care and attention I received from the HBC is far superior to what I experienced in a traditional OBGYN and hospital setting). As a result of my home birth experiences, I was given the confidence to approach many other aspects of my life with empowerment, mindfulness and intention. I will forever be grateful to Debbie and the HBC for my homebirths (which were the most incredible experiences of my life) and the ever-lasting change they affected in me.

I couldn’t ask for a better birth team for my home birth & prenatal care. All the staff there I have met have been wonderful and gone above and beyond. Thank you so much to Debbie, Viviana, Ada, Agueda, and all the staff.

I am a Certified Holistic Doula and I called this center to get more information for a client with Medicaid and they were very helpful in getting me resources for my client! We need more safe places like this for mothers and families!

They do not care about their midwives at all. It’s been two years there yet to process payment for my midwife just because they are not getting a cut. We call them every week and their responses were so busy we’ll do it next week! That’s 8 months next week now. Don’t use this place!

I had a great experience. I had a home birth. My mid wife Mimi helped me every step of the way. I would do it again. I recommend them. The whole staff was very professional.

I had my daughter in September and had a great experience with HBC. Debbie marin is very experienced and has a calm demeanor about her, and my midwife Mimi is so warm and encouraging. Sadly I did not have the water birth I wanted because of prolonged rupture and I knew what to expect if baby was not out after 24 hours from my water breaking. We went over my birth plan with my midwife to know what to expect at the hospital. We went to North Shore hospital where Dr. Spence practices (Doc associated with HBC) and had an amazing experience. Him and both my, night and day, nurses were open to my requests and we’re my biggest cheerleaders for a vaginal birth. I gave birth to a healthy baby girl and Daddy caught her and gave her to me. We had a priceless 2 hrs of skin to skin bonding after birth and delayed cord cutting as we wanted. The nurses in the mother and baby unit were also great and taught us many things as first time parents. One thing I didn’t like is that they didn’t give me take my placenta same day of birth, it had to be in their pathology unit for a few days. I still had it encapsulated.
Overall great experience. If you have to pivot from your plan feel your feelings, and then refocus to make moves to have a healthy baby. Remain calm and clear in your communication- I believe this is what made me have a great experience at the hospital.
