Hook's on 9th reviews
16 Do not speak to the greeter unless you want to feel as if you spoke backwards.
Do not order "seared" sushi rolls unless you want to make out with an ashtray.
Do not complain about the food unless you want the chef to pour his condescension onto you.
Server was fantastic though! Wish I could've given him the whole tab as a tip instead.
Great service, fresh sushi and an amazing selection of creative rolls. Oh and they have real crab (c not k)!
Went to hooks tonight for the first time. Our server James was INCREDIBLE! Super friendly and attentive. Will be coming back again soon!
5 star is for the employees. They are so welcoming. Love the vibe inside the restaurant. But the food doesn’t seems to be freshly made. I have ordered Red curry, the vegetables in it were not fresh and the broth wasn’t that good as expected. Its an easy fix guys. You are the best.
Hooks has recently become one of my "regular" lunch places. The sushi is tasty, and the other options I've tried were good.
Compared to other places, Hooks is a good "deal. " I paid a dollar more for a 2-roll lunch deal at another place, and Hooks includes soup-or-salad and a few edamame pods with lunch.
I've tried the Pad Thai and a Poké Bowl, and liked both. Service has been good with refills on my water when needed.
I would give my recent experience zero stars if I could-we have been coming to Hooks for years but not anymore-if your looking for a good dinner after a bad day, your not going to find it here. Service was the worst-wish I had his name but he never even asked us if we wanted dinner so good to know that Hooks is doing so good that didnt need any extra money for dinner service-worst service ever!
We did a to-go order with Hooks based on a recommendation from someone we met at Cellar Masters. They have a very simple lunch menu while still giving you lots of options. All lunch specials come with soup or salad and edamame. Everything is packaged nicely like a bento box and the food was prepared quickly. For lunch, it's a lot of food for the money. A great value. I enjoyed the sushi I had and I am looking forward to trying some of the other things like their Thai dishes. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they do online ordering so you will have to call.
They worse experience every in St Pete.even before the point of ordering food. The service/server's attitude, deplorable. TOO many other options feting thus COVID environment to settle for poor customer service. Good luck staying in business!
Meh. It seems like people who aren't sushi experts tried to make a menu out of what they thought sounded good. At this point they'd be better off going to another sushi restaurant and copying their menu. It wasn't horrible but it was disappointing after hearing stories that the line used to out the door for Hooks. I wont be back.
Inconsistent. Same items ordered but it's a different higher price every time.the items aren't prepared the same for each order.so it's like ordering from different Restaurants.never again!
Rice galore! Will never come back. Ssrvice was great but product was decent at best. 80 bux with a good tip for a pile of rice with very little fish. Go to Ichiban up the street. Much much better!
Favorite sushi in st Pete. Food is always so good and fish very fresh. Love the spicy seaweed salad here too
Was looking forward to eating here; arrived and it was closed when their website said they were open. Called, no answer. Nice.
Small little place. The sign said call for reservations but I stuck my head in asking if we could be seated and they welcomed us.
Warm Sake, Beef Bulgogi, and Pho. Yum! The Beef Bulgogi has veggies in it which was different for us. Better for the kids because they need their veggies. Comes with sides.miso soup, salad ginger dressing, and kimichi and seaweed. I was a fan of everything. My boys 8 and 10 were also. They ate salad with chopsticks for the first time.
The Pho wasn't traditional but it was flavorful, delicious, and stayed hot for a long time.
Great little place!
Good sushi and sake. Most recently, I went with my buddy Zack Hogg so it was an especially fun time because I enjoy his company.
