House of the Sun, Sarasota FL

Have been coming to house of sun for years. The recent change in tent policies on the beach is ridiculous. Not sure if it's new management or what. You aren't even allowed to have little baby tents here (which arent even up to our waists). I would not consider this place to be family friendly anymore, unfortunately. Hopefully they turn it around for the better. Especially for families with little kids

We have nothing but good things to say about our stay, room was perfect, private beach was awesome, the pool was like bath water, close to restaurants, free shuttles to the village…looking forward to coming back next year.

Out of all of the places that we have stayed in Siesta Key, House of the Sun is our favorite! Rooms are spacious. Location is perfect - close to restaurants/bars, private beach, and a nice pool. We will definitely be back.

First, access to the beach was great and the proximity to different restaurants and shops was a plus. That’s were it ends. The room was not clean, lots of sands and garbage under the sofa and carpet from previous guest. The master bedroom air conditioning did not cool the room at all. The master bed was very uncomfortable and the big negative is the noise, the whole week having to listen to kids running around with no regards till midnight.

The unit and property were fine and the beach just behind the House of the Sun was amazing, but I recommend staying elsewhere. We mistakenly left behind some clothing items and an Amazon Fire Stick and promptly contacted management regarding our mistake. Management said they would look into retrieving the items from the unit, but I had to initiate the follow-up days later to only receive a terse response stating “Unfortunately, nothing was found in the unit. Thank you. ” We know we left these items behind and exactly where. My suspicion is that either 1) Management didn’t actually follow up and look. 2) The cleaning crew claimed them their own 3) The cleaning crew discarded them.

For this reason, the experience was troubling.

I loved the beach but the pool and the bathroom at this place was absolutely disgusting.
Also there is a new construction going on next to House of the sun. Prepare to wake up at 7 a.m every morning with loud noises.

We love the location of this place. Our room was beautiful, the beach is the best. It's great for being near done nightlife and great food without being in the busy village. I just wish they had a jacuzzi in the deck!

We had heard such great things about this place which is why we decided to come siesta key for the first time. Everything was great except for the fact that I couldn't use the washer or dryer. It was supposed to be included but was broke and no one mentioned it to me during check in. I was given the key to another unit and told that I could only use the washer and the dryer for a couple hrs due to someone checking in. The whole point in a vacation is to relax not carrying laundry back and forth between units and wearing dirty clothes due to not being able to wash but 1 load. I feel that we should've been discounted for our stay. That was our only issue but a real pain and inconvenience.

Been going here for years and it gets better every year. Plenty of shopping and restaurants within walking distance and the beach is much less crowded than the village part of the island. Its easy to walk or bike down to the village for dinner/drinks/shopping/whatever. Being on the south side of the building is a must otherwise you're just looking into another building instead of at the ocean.

I have been going to House of the Sun since my mom was pregnant with me! Siesta Key has been our family's 'happy place' my whole life and House Of The Sun is included in that nostalgia. The rooms are always clean and well equipped. The beach is of course, incredible. I have nothing but fond memories of Sarasota & House of the Sun. I highly recommend staying here.
