H&R Block reviews
6Excellent location and staff to get my taxes done. They really make it look easy.
Interested in doing taxes this year Mrs. Maura Vargas is the best in the business very attentive, friendly and answer all your question and concerns.
It was interesting being that I've had long standing disagreement with the IRS over the years. Tiring to get my affairs in order
Taxes are done professionally when they are done by Mrs. Celestine Joe. Ask for Mrs. Joe for a thorough service. She is in the Sanford office.
The employees in the local office are professional and nice. This is not a review of them and I want that clarified up front! My three star rating is aimed more at whatever the corporate pricing structure is. I had a basic 1040 with no itemization. It is something that can be done in any free tax e-file program. I had in fact already completed my own taxes online but was quite shocked when I saw my taxes due. I had never itemized my taxes before and a friend mentioned that it might be beneficial this year. I made an appointment and the price mentioned up front was $89 and that is consistent with their advertising and online presence. I uploaded all of my documents from home. I gathered all of my itemizable expenses which was hundreds of individual transactions. I did all of the math on them and summarized and also uploaded those. I showed up for my 9 a.m. Appointment and within 20 minutes found out that I did not reach the threshold for the benefit of itemizing and my return would be the standard deduction on a basic 1040. I was then offered another $90 worth of services which I declined and then told I owed $180. I was shocked, but as usual assumed I had misunderstood the pricing and paid it. I feel misled and taken advantage of and that is not a good feeling and it will probably prevent me from ever using them again. I am considering going back to them, question the charges and see if they can justify it to me. I will update thsi review if I feel like I have a resolution.
