Humane Society of Marion County, Inc. reviews
17The staff was extremely friendly and professional. The facility is well maintained and the animals I say look well cared for.
It's like a shakedown every time.they did a very poor job the first time then have us keep coming back to shake us down each time. This time they tried to get way more then we can come up with and we're very rude on saying to (make another appointment but make sure to pay the balance first) knowing I'm on a limited income and trying to make me feel like less of a person because I couldn't pay huge bill that shouldn't have been in the first place.
I really like the clinic. The Dr is great. She is easy to talk to, and the staff are also top-notch. Very satisfied client!
Couldn’t adopt the dog upfront because whole family needed to see the dog first. My whole family isn’t taking care of the dog. Also ur not allowed to walk around and see other dogs in the kennel. You pick a dog and see it and go. You pay 25$ to put it on hold to bring ur family in to meet the dog. Then pay 100$ for the dog. My first dog from citrus county was 60$ and the first two weeks with the dog as a test run was free. It smells terrible in there and looks unclean. They stopped people from adopting a dog for some stupid rules
Never felt more disrespected than I did while trying to adopt a dog. Just because we put certain answers to some of their questions we gave off “red flags” and were denied even seeing a dog! Obviously their little “survey” doesn’t do much for screening considering the two dogs we wanted to see had already been returned back to the shelter. The person helping us could care less about adopting out an animal. These people don’t know us and have no idea what type of people we are. Our animals have a huge back yard, a porch, fan, and fresh water but leaving them in a fenced in back yard was inhumane to them and would rather us crate an animal rather than let them be a dog! Our animals want for nothing and they could have given one of those poor dogs a good home but decided to judge a book by its cover instead of giving us a chance. Never have I ever been made to feel the way I did while trying to adopt an animal to give it a better life.
The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Sadly the puppy adoption was not successful due to incompatibility with existing dogs. We can try again another time.
I’ve raised purebred Rottweilers all my life. I recently decided to rescue from now on after my last one died from cancer. It broke my heart into a million pieces and I swore I couldn’t go through it any more. I finally decided to adopt and upon arriving to this facility, I was given a questionnaire if I wanted to see the dogs. I didn’t know it was an application for adoption. I filled it out fast because I didn’t know if any would interest me. I said on the app that the new dog would stay outside while I’m at work (privacy fenced with waters fan, camera and my other dog) they said that wasn’t good enough. The lady at the counter proceeded to tell me my answers were not good enough and that I can just leave. I’ve never been made to feel like that after choosing to open my home and heart again. I think I may just buy from a breeder if I want another. I don’t want to EVER go through that again I can’t believe they are so rude to people looking to help an animal with a home.
My senior dog was sickly and I was struggling to find a veterinary clinic that I could afford. Thank you for your service and your kindness.
I mean it's a great place to see pets and animals. But the dogs can be intimidating when they keep barking loudly at you. But the cats are cute, And I've found my two lovely dogs there. (I got the brown one Yoshi somewhere else though)
All the staff here are so wonderfully compassionate and kind. They allowed us to put both my babies (of the same litter) down at the same time so one wasn’t more scared. I cannot compliment how sensitive and gentle they were. Thank you from the bottom of my soul…
Possibly adopting a dog today if my dog likes him
I did adopt Disco. He fit right in like a glove. My dog Ginger and Disco get along quite well.
Disco loves running around the yard that is about over 1/2 an acre. He gets his exercise. They both sleep with me and stay in bed till I get up.
For the former adoption people. He just needed to be given a chance to get to know men and patience and understanding.
My son won him over in a short time. The best decision I have made for my family
Only place to go to get your dogs spayed and neutered! Great people! Value can not be beat.
I found a very small dog wandering in a 100 acre field very old and a little sick she had a collar and a sweater on No tags I called my wife to come pick her up after wandering the neighborhood and not finding the owner she took the poor little thing to the humane society and the staff was so uncaring more concerned about sitting around talking nobody wanted to help my wife had to push them to scan the dog for a chip the thought never occurred to anyone there she had to take the little dog to Marion county Animal shelter on Baseline. I don't know what happened to this place it used to be really nice years ago when Bruce was the Manager now It seem like no one there is an animal lover I guess it's just a paycheck. Roxanne I hope you read this you really need to make some changes you have a bunch of rotten wood there from front to back
The staff were great. The shelter is clean. I adopted a Lab mix and she's so sweet. Thank you very much
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed adopting my new kitten from The Humane Society of Marion County!
Service has been fantastic and everyone has been very professional. I've visited multiple times in the last few weeks and have not been disappointed.
I had never been here before so I went to the wrong building at first. But the people there were so kind helping me get to the right area. Once I was in the right place, all I can say is parting is such sweet sorrow when you know it's time to let your animal go. The staff, techs and vet made it so much sweeter. Thank you so much for your kindness. It made Kirby's life perfect from start to finish. Goodbye sweet girl. Rest in peace. I will always remember you and I will write your story like I promised so you will not be forgotten.
