Ichiban Restaurant & Sushi Bar reviews
20Delicious food and awesome service! Thanks for treating us Iowans to amazing food while on vacation. Highly recommend the volcano roll and Mexicali roll you, won’t be disappointed.
This was my third time in this restaurant. The food and the server (Suzy) are superb! They never disappointed me. I highly recommend it.
Went to this restaurant with my family thinking it was part of the Ichiban chain of restaurants, given the similar logo. However, it is a restaurant independent of the chain. Though we were expecting to have hibachi, we instead got sushi and some fried rice. The food tasted great and was not too greasy, as fried rice can be sometimes. Would definitely eat here again!
I used to love Ichiban. It was my favorite spot in Sarasota for sushi and I always recommended it to others. Most all-you-can-eat sushi spots offer terrible sushi but Ichiban was an exception. However, that has changed. After an almost two year break, I went to Ichiban tonight and they had joined the club of bad all you can eat sushi spots. The server had been there for years and admitted they had to cut back on the amount of fish because of cost. I understand but it was my last visit.
Sushi at publix taste better. Our server and staff were great however. The restaurant could use a remodel and AC did not work.
This place was very clean and tidy but I would have to say the food was not worth what they are charging. Very nice atmosphere but if you order the all you can eat menu you are limited drastically by your choices.
There is a 80/20% Rice to fish ratio on thier rolls. Costed me nearly $70 for lunch for two people and I would say it was mostly rice.
Im sorry to say I wasnt very pleased with this place. If you like all you can eat sushi I would try Ginza on Fruitville rd. They are the best in Sarasota. Very fresh seafood, super fast service and, very inexpensive.
The same lunch at Ginza would have been $25 cheaper and generous portions of fish. I wish I would have driven the extra 2 exits.
I was pleasantly surprised to find this Japanese fusion restaurant that was pretty good in terms of their price and sushi options. Service was good, but they were a little busy so had to wait for our main bite. My only other complaint was the food on floor.
Been enjoying Sushi here for years. Always good food, clean atmosphere and friendly service!
Very good sushi. Excellent value. Great employees. Friendly staff. We’re regulars here and would recommend it to our friends and family.
Looks like the quality / portions are declining … Got tempura veg … it was not actually tempura coating … batter was super-thick and opaque and I’m guessing the pieces were pre-made and frozen before frying, and wasn’t remotely crunchy even after air-frying the fresh takeout at home.
Raw Sushi pieces are also smaller: (
The one thing they have going for me is their chili oil. It’s my favorite.
Great price and food quality combined with a fantastic service!
Wouldn’t hesitate a second in coming back!
EXCELLENT sushi and service. Does not have a full bar. Limited but appropriate drinks. All you can eat is their clam to fame.
If I could put -100 star I'd do that. Ordered 4 sets of rolls and a fried rice. Everything was absolutely disgusting! Rainbow roll and a dancing eel roll should have a crab meat (how it's saying in their menu) in it but I can't even found a crab in my rolls. They put crab sticks instead of crab meat. That's a lie! Fried rice literally had 3 pieces of meat. Disappointed
This place is the absolute best place to eat sushi! Toni the owner and his family are great! We've known him 20+ years since he first started. You won't be disappointed. Large variety of sushi! My favorite roll is the Volcano my husband loves the Nathan roll. We visit weekly food is always fresh!
Food was better than good but not the best I've had there. Service however was great. Our server, Mike, was very attentive and made sure we had what we wanted.
Great sushi, very popular at weekends. Although not the main thing on menu, lo mein and udon are surprisingly good!
I ordered the Tampa and Mexican rolls togo with a ginger salad and egg roll. The only thing edible was the egg roll. The ginger dressing was very sweet and the shrimp in the Mexican roll was tough. They sent the Tampa roll with burnt breading on the inside no white fish. Absolutely disgusting.
100% percent recommended, perfect service, the food is amazing, restaurant is kept up clean and overall a good environment. If your looking for a sushi night ichiban is the place to go!
All you can eat no longer includes sashimi and the roll menu is limited, with an up charge for rolls not on new all you can eat menu. Sat at the sushi bar and watched chef making orders. Fish portions on all you can eat orders much smaller than on regular sushi orders. Also all you can eat sushi cut from different piece of fish than regular orders. I’ve been going there for about 5 years and although the quality is ok, not near what it use to be. Probably will not be going back.
Sushi was delicious. Good atmosphere and wide variety of sushi, sashimi and Asian cuisine. Quite affordable too.
