Update #2: Please do not use this business. They made it impossible for us to file for a claim they were so uncooperative. They have this fake apology Which is below, but they made no attempt to settle the claim. It is absolutely a sham organization.

Update: The company sent an apology and said that they are investigating the extreme overcharge. So what! Not sufficient. Will I get a refund and what about the scratched furniture? An apology does not mean that they are accepting responsibility and that we will be refunded. They did not provide a contact to talk about the issue. Another reason to Not Use Them!

Please do not use them. They brokered our move to Atlas Pro Moving, NJ who were horrible. Interstate took zero responsibility for Atlas’s poor performance (see review below). The Interstate contact had no idea what she was talking about and cheerfully say, “All will be well. ” Well it was not. Avoid this company! We were charged almost twice what we were quoted! They are not rated by The Better Business Bureau.

Atlas Pro Movers.
Possibly the worst company that we’ve dealt with for any reason. The scratched furniture was just the start. They committed to and broke 4 appointments. It’s impossible to get in touch with anyone. They charged us almost twice what was quoted and gave us a whopping $50 for our inconvenience. They were hired by a moving broker, Interstate Freight Shippers, LLC. Avoid them too. They are not certified by the Better Business Bureau. Terrible.

This place is a scam. They will do a phone inventory with no video at first. Then you get a good quote to which you place a non refundable deposit. Then 2 weeks prior to your interstate move, they do a video inventory. You then get a quote for double the amount and unless your ready to forfeit your deposit are forced to go a long with their services. Another deposit is required and you are told this is final price. Then they hire a fly by night moving company to do your move. The movers showed up 10 hrs.late with no truck or packing supplies. They then did an inventory and the price then increased by $10,000.00. Arguing back and forth seemed futile since we had to move due to a new job. We were forced to pay the extra money or else we forfeit all down payments. They did finally get us loaded and moved but once our furniture arrived at our new location, every piece of furniture had been damaged. We were told to take pictures and submit, but after constant emails and phone calls to Interstate and Executive Moving Carriers, we are unable to get this resolved. We were told all of our damaged furniture would be coved and we would get reimbursed for damages, but we are unable to get this resolved. This is a scam business and they do not care about you or your personal belongings, all they want is their money. I would not use this company, find a reputable company to move you. They made an already stressful experience completely unbearable. We will forever be reminded of this horrible experience every time we look at our damaged furniture. And let me add that we do not have cheap furniture, the one piece that was damaged was over $6,000.00! Another piece was over $4,000.00! PLEASE DON’T USE THIS COMPANY! My only hope is that enough people complain and this company can cease to exist!

BEWARE, SCAM, MOST REVIEWS ARE FAKE!

This moving company/broker will give the lowest possible price to make sure you sign a contract with them that you cannot get out of! They gave me a quote and even went as far as taking a video walk through of my house to make sure my items fit into the square footage they gave me a quote for. Then hired a moving company that doubled the price. Broker promised assembly and disassembly. Actual movers assembled but did not disassemble, they kept the nails to items such as desks, book shelves etc making it impossible to reassemble on my own. The very first thing the mover told me when he walked in was that the broker gave an estimate not an actual price, he made me sign a paper before even doing a walk through stating I understood, a recording of my belongings were taken so I didn't think it would go up that much. All of the boxes used where UHAUL boxes labeled sized Medium but movers charged me for large boxes and told me that in this industry medium means large and that the broker should have explained this to me. Broker told me long haul was $100.00, the moving company charged me $1,000.00 to walk 10 steps from front door to elevator. They told me I can pay less if I paid them on the side and gave them a tip. This turned out to be $800.00. A lot of items were damaged during the move. Tape was place directly on wooden furniture which damaged it when the tape was removed and other items were left in a storage facility in NY. I contacted Interstate and was told to file a claim through Ship4U which I did, they answered my call once and I requested a claim form but they told me they needed to talk to their manager first and never called me back and now they won't return my call. I requested the video from Interstate and was told someone would call me back but no one did. Neither the broker or the moving company will answer or return my calls now. I believe they are working together to scam people. I had to purchase a new box spring, desk and TV stand after paying them an outrageous amount to have it moved. I also have to have my dresser set hidden since the damages from the tape are horrible. DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THIS COMPANY.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They keep of your deposit & do NOT tell you that you have 3 days to cancel or you lose your deposit! A deposit of $3000 they keep for NOTHING! That’s basically stealing! If I could rate them 0 STARS I would have done it! When I asked for the owner of the business email I got absolutely NO response. Apparently, this behavior is their standard. They make their money by pressuring the client to book same day & pay a deposit fee, give an estimate, then later double the estimate, shifting the blame on the client & when the price unacceptable to the client (who of course will back out), they KEEP the deposit! This company is a total scam!

TLDR: avoid at all costs

I had the same issues as a few other reviewers: I was paired with a disreputable moving company (Ship 4 U) that tried to nearly double the price of my move when they showed up day-of. The movers acted shady to the point that my roommates in a different part of the house took note. The foreman had an out-of-date bill of lading that I'd never signed, rather than the updated one I'd generated a week ahead of time with Interstate during a quality assurance call (and signed). I'd set the QA call up earlier than standard to ensure things went smoothly after reading a few unfavorable reviews of Interstate. I showed the foreman the updated bill of lading and he backed off, instead saying I had exceeded the allotted cubic footage and that only 7 stairs were included in the estimate. I can confirm I was within my cubic footage allotment- I measured when I moved myself- and that the stair upcharges directly contradicted my binding estimate.

The mover refused to budge when told they were breaking my binding estimate, insisting that “carrier policy is carrier policy and any discrepancies between their policies and the binding estimate are lies the broker told in order to get me to book the job. ” I’d like to point out that the mover said this with a straight face while actively holding the binding estimate they'd brought with them. The mover kept acting weird and saying that I was going to be charged extra for this and that, so I tried to call Interstate Freight Shippers. I tried 3 different lines multiple times, including direct numbers I’d been given to contact. No answer. To avoid a potential hostage situation, I tried to acquire a new binding estimate as suggested by the "Your Rights And Responsibilities When Moving" document issued by the FCMSA (a government agency). The mover refused, saying it was against company policy. After much pressing, they scribbled an unofficial estimate on a scrap of paper that was over $1000 extra. They changed their story multiple times, eventually telling me this estimate was if and only if I managed to be within the initially allotted space and that fuel, labor, and mileage weren't included in the estimate (the estimate clearly states they're included), and that this wasn’t a real estimate and we’d have to see. I tried calling Interstate Freight Shippers 19 times total and tried coming to a resolution directly with the movers. No answer, and the movers refused to budge.

Facing an unacceptable situation, I opted not to load my belongings onto their truck. Instead, I rented a last-minute truck and moved myself over 800 miles and was back to work by Monday. I measured my load once fully loaded, confirming I was below the allotted cubic footage.

It's now nearly a month since my scheduled move, and I'm no closer to resolution. I lodged a formal complaint via phone the day after this happened and another via email as soon as I arrived at my destination. The only thing I've heard from their end is that the moving company was going to charge me $500 extra for moving additional stuff (lies) and that my deposit was forfeit because I cancelled (inaccurate- I refused to put my stuff on the truck when the binding estimate was clearly being violated and I was unable to get in touch with them, and moved myself because I had to get back to work). I gave a detailed description of what happened and was told they’d look into it, but it felt like a platitude. Interstate Freight Shippers has been unresponsive for weeks. Their repeated lack of accountability, lack of apology, and evasion of responsibility is concerning, and their attempts to shift blame onto me are frustrating. They act like nothing untoward happened. Communication post-sale has been atrocious and there has been a lot of double-talk and convenient half-truths. I’ve spent more time trying to deal with Interstate than I did moving 800 miles, but I’m no closer to the end. On the bright side, my stuff all arrived quickly and in one piece since I moved it!

TLDR: do not use Interstate Freight Shippers.

My previous move involved the company picking my items up, putting them in storage for a month, then repacking the truck-with items lost in the process. Interstate promised me when I booked with them that my items would go on a truck and straight to the destination (with potential stops in between). When they arrived for pick up, I was told that my things would go into storage until they put together a full load. Promise broken.

My items arrived but were put on the truck without regard to "THIS END UP" or "FRAGILE". Heavy boxes were loaded on top of fragile items, and lighter boxes were crushed. Boxes with pictures were on their sides. A nearly new Eames chair that they wrapped/packed arrived with a scratch on the back. An audio visual console was wrapped in blankets, but that didn't help when they apparently put it down hard enough so that it's no longer square and the drawers don't work smoothly. How hard is it to slow down and put things in their place in a way that makes sense and shows compassion for the person's belongings?

As for the cost, two days before the move their inventory person called and said I should increase the cubic foot estimate by 10% because if we go over on my estimate (I had moved a year ago so I knew it was going to be 800 cf or so) it'll be $30 a cubic foot vs $4. So I agreed to a $400 price increase. Lo and behold, my load was supposedly even more than 900 cf, but they "cut me a break". Once put into a storage unit while I looked for a place, it occupied around 50% of a 10 x 20 x 8 locker, or 800 cu ft, and it took only 3 man hours to empty the truck, so the $400 was a waste of money.

Items damaged, items lost, items broken. I thought my previous move was bad, but not nearly as bad as these folks. When I moved from Connecticut to Florida I rented a truck, hired people to load it, hired someone to drive it down, and hired people to unload it. It was a bit more expensive, but my stuff arrived 100% fine.

We had the same issues as Kevin. We were quotes (and signed a contract) for about $2,700. They put us with a disreputable trucking company (Atlas Pro Moving and Storage) who jacked the price up to about $4,500 after picking up the furniture. The mover broke their delivery appointment numerous times, leaving us in an empty apartment just sitting on the floor with nothing else. They broke the appointments well after the times they were to show up. The furniture arrived damaged. If that's who Interstate works with, clearly they can't be trusted to help you in a good way. So they never returned our phone calls about the issues. Do everything you can to avoid them!

BEWARE! DO NOT USE! The basic quote was pretty reasonable, but I over estimated. Then with that walk through, I pointed out only what we were taking. The cost went up again. We are a large family in a large home. They send one messily truck. And then told me that it would take 3 trucked and my original quote would only cover the first truck and I would have to May the same amount for each truck. That would have been over $30,000. Then the movers wanted a cashiers check. I did not have that kind of cash. We negotiated it down, but I still needed to use a credit card. I would have to pay the extra 3.5% and then they would not release the load and I would have to pay a storage fee until the credit card clearers. What a joke! I basically walked away from my deposit. It felt like a scam as soon as the movers showed up.

First, Interstate is a broker mover company. You sign up with one company and then they send you a third party moving company to actually get your items. MC Movers is the company that showed up to transport our items and is also our primary frustration. The week before moving we went through all of the items in our home, including the estimated boxes we would have, and we’re given an estimate. The day before we did a FaceTime to show the moving company exactly what would need to be moved, on this day they increased the price by almost double. When MC Movers showed up to take our stuff the price increased to almost 3x the original quote, despite us having taken items off the list to keep the original price. When the price skyrocketed we asked if we could get our deposit back and go with another company to which we were told no. We had no choice but to continue. The foreman on the job assured us that our things would make it to the new destination in 5-7 days, 10-12 days at the very latest. We were assured that many times throughout this entire process. The journey from our old home to our new one is 3 days. We have called for days in a row, minus a few, just to ask if our things have been loaded yet. The first three days the ladies on the phone assured us, yet again, that our things would be loaded the next morning, which was a lie.

The customer service for MC Movers is worse than wretched. When I called today I heard the lady on the other line gasp and say “oh my god” when I told her my name. I was then chastised for even calling and told to stop talking while answering a question. They have tried to pin my husband and I against each other, even going as far as asking if “we even talk to each other”. I was sent to the manager who is even worse than the people answering the phones originally. The managers response was to also rudely read the contract to me and stated that they have 30 days to send our items. This was the first time 30 days was even mentioned to us. Even if that’s what the contract now stated, we had no choice on the day of but to either give them our entire deposit (which we had to give them even more when the price went up during the second phone call) for them to keep or to sign the new contract. We felt scammed. Let me remind you that when we signed the contract the foreman standing right there in front of us stated it would be 12 days at the latest. When I asked the manager when our things would be loaded she said she did not have to tell me an ETA and that our things would be there in 30 days and all we would receive would be a 24 hour before delivery notice. I asked why we were lied to the days before when we were told our items were to be loaded the following day, to which the manager just kept responding that they did not lie and things are “always changing”.

During these phone calls with MC Movers we have been lied to, hung up on and even told not to call again. Now we are stuck between these two companies who sold us on a promise and have not even come close to delivering. All we have been asking for on these phone calls is when our things will be loaded and when they think it will be delivered. Something every moving company should be able to answer.

Update 6/1/23: Interstate was able to help us get our things 15 days after the first available date of delivery. We were very grateful for their help but on the same coin, Interstate hired MC Movers and trusted them which is was put us in the position to begin with. My hope is that after this they stop working with that company for good. Some of our items arrived broken, stained and smelling like a dirty warehouse. We have submitted a claim and are hopeful that Interstate will complete an investigation to return some of the money we were scammed out of. I would say if you’re going to use Interstate make sure to ask who will be the moving company, and if they say MC Movers DO NOT go with them and save yourself the stress and worry. We wish we would have seen a review like this before we decided to use them.
