Islander Resort, Islamorada FL

The hotel is beautiful and in a great location. However, we had a few negatives that impacted our stay.
1. The bed was broken (being held up by a tiny wooden stick underneath). We had room 146.2. It felt like a ghost town, there were no employees. No housekeeping, no one at the towel stand, no one on the grounds, no one answering the phone to accept orders at the restaurant on site. No one emptied our trash or provided clean coffee mugs in our room during our stay. They have a conservation policy so they do not change sheets or towels for you.
The resort smells pretty bad outside as we witnessed many guest emptying their own trash cans in the outdoor garbage cans.
3. To add to the feeling of a ghost town, all the beautiful tiki torches that are apart of water fixtures and line the paths to the beach were never lit. There were gas fire pit tables on the beach that were never uncovered or lit.
4. This is a VERY kid friendly resort, so if you plan on using the pool/hot tub, or relaxing on a quiet beach, this is not the place for you. We took a kid free weekend trip for some relaxation and ended up never using the pool and having to find quieter places away from the resort to relax. If you do have kids, there is a very cute splash pad available for them.

The best part of this resort is the Islander Girls adventures that is on site and also happen to run the activities tiki. They were the highlight of our trip. But you don’t have to stay at the Islander in order to experience their amazing charters. We would definitely visit Islamorada again, but will probably choose a more attentive resort next time.

Comically over priced to stay and they held my deposit. Still waiting on that even after a week +.
Completely unacceptable.

They try to be some fancy resort but drop the ball on every aspect.

The rooms are okay. Shared walls on both sides.
The pools are whatever. One for kids one for.kids and adults.

There's no beach.
Some weird sterile sand area with no life whatsoever.

There's a dock for.a boat? No tie offs and isn't deep enough to be useful.

The food at both places is awful.
One is more typical restaurant and sucks.
The other is some gourmet place that can't cook a steak to save their life.
Gray is the way you will receive your $45 steak.

The best part was Jay at the bar.

Everything else is subpar in a tux.

Place was clean and comfortable. Screened in patio was great to relax at. Staff was rude, especially towel attendants. Waited 15 min sitting at a table at tides before I decided to get up to get myself a menu. Food was good tho.

This property is a little worn out. I would definitely recommend not booking in advance- when we stayed there the rate was around $250-300 and it was definitely not worth the much higher rate I paid. If you can get it at the $250 rate it would be worth it. We found there to be a lot of families and a lot of partying. The walls of the room were super thin and could hear everything going on late into night on both sides of the room. Also there is really no swimming in front of the hotel - it is very shallow and a ton of seaweed.

Remember to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙᴏʟʟʏ. ᴄᴏm when booking your room. They compare countless booking web sites and normally will have prices much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This hotel is one of my favorites in this area. I have been coming here for a long time. If you decide to stay here you for sure won't regret it.

Everything about this resort was excellent. The room and location was amazing. Garden view was quiet and private. Food and beverages were a bit pricey but still delicious. Front desk staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

After a hefty amount of research, we decided on the Islander. We have stayed in Islamorada before, but never here. The reviews for the good places in islamorada were all pretty bad in the March timeframe when we were looking, many citing rooms and resorts not being kept up with and lack of housekeeping.

The Islander resort was very pretty and the rooms were nice. It ended up being pretty expensive for what it is. It’s definitely a 3 star resort, but a great 3 star!

I would not eat at Tides, that food is a 2 out of 5.

We did the sandbar tour with Islander girl ours, it was nice. Very scripted with their communication with us on the tour though, and same experience when I went to rent a bike the next day. Lots of talk about “we work for tips” that was off-putting.

Normally don’t knit pick but the resort prices allow imo. Good: property is nice, well appointed. Bed was awesome, very comfortable. Rooms were fresh and updated. Pool was good along with the bar. On site water sports/snorkeling tours are awesome! Love the solid style of sand at the beach makes for easy walking. Plenty of beach chairs, towels etc.

Needs improvement: staff although nice enough they seem uncaring. Only a few of the staff really seemed like they wanted to help. I will say the restaurant staff were extremely nice and accommodating. Maybe the other staff members should take notes. Except the snorkeling girls they were terrific.

People smoking at the pool is just a major turn off. It is a family place that doesn’t impact us but it’s also pet friendly and the people next door had a huge dog that barked.

Just a fabulous resort. They have thought of everything… leave the pool / dining area (if you can bring yourself to) and walk along the beach to the basketball/volleyball/cornhole area… fun for all the family!

My family and I enjoyed our stay here. Only issues we encountered was having to request for our room to be cleaned multiple times, even after citing that we wanted it cleaned daily at check in. The resort was pretty and relatively clean. Islander Girl tour to the reef was really fun as well. We would stay here again.

Only 3 stars because I didn’t expect this to be such a “family” resort with kids running freely everywhere. Nice to have the lanai to sit without any bugs. It is a resort and I was only there for a night on my way to Key West.and really I overpaid for what I needed. Very nice staff and we got a golf cart ride to and from our restaurant which was very very nice.

From the moment you enter the resort you feel like you've entered a tropical paradise, beautiful land scaping, palm trees on white sand beaches looking out over the water, incredible accommodation's, caring and attentive staff. Thank you for making our stay memorable

It's a beautiful place, the staff is incredibly friendly. The only thing is, there's no actual beach, it's surrounded by rock. The restaurant staff was very friendly as well, the food selection was a bit small.
The pools was very nice, large, pretty fountain and walk in. This resort is definitely one to check out.

We arrived at the Islander Resort Easter Weekend for a wedding. The resort is beautiful and the rooms are really cute. The Sunday brunch was amazing! Highly recommended, we will definitely be back!

Each member of the staff we have encounter has been friendly, and courteous! Did I mention the rooms are CLEAN, beautiful and the property has a great beach area

Decent accommodations, but significantly overpriced.

We had an employee walk in without knocking during an awkward moment. When we talked to the front desk shortly after they insisted it was impossible, that no one had a master key. Apparently, the housekeepers teleport in to clean rooms. They said a manager would call and they never did.

If this is what they consider hospitality, I would just avoid it. There's much, much better options nearby.

Beautiful resort with private beach, pools, and restaurants. The staff is courteous, and well organized. Definitely recommended for your next special event.
