I needed to give away my pet because I am moving & have a new job. There website to setup your pet in terrible & ineffective, the ppl at the shelter shut me down about giving up my pet & want me to call around some numbers to find someone. The other person want to call someone else. I gave myself a week to solve my problem & I may have to use Craigslist which I hate when it comes to pets.

What a great place to find a dog. You can spend hundreds from a breeder or you can go get a lovable and loyal friend for a lot less money and a lot more love

Found a stray cat that was super sweet. I was told by the people at the Jacksonville humane society that if I can't keep her (my dogs won't allow me) that I should just dump her. They didn't want her because she wasn't a kitten!

Very nicely run. Many special programs to get acquainted with pets and lots of volunteers to help with questions and adoptions.

They don't accept cats over 3 months of age. And they don't want you to take kittens. Since the mortality rate of feral kittens is around 75% I'm assuming they just want them to get hit by cars or starve to death. I was feeding a sad looking bunch if feral cats. I resorted to trapping and relocating them to a feral cat colony myself where at leat they are safe and fed on a regular basis.

I've never seen a facility quite like this. Your foster program is incredible and I love what you do for the animals. The fostering staff/vets are also great and always super friendly and helpful.

One small piece of constructive criticism- sometimes wait times for picking up fosters or dropping them off for vet visits are excessive, even when an appointment is made. To be fair, my visit today was quick. I was in and out, so this isn't always the case.

While the staff is always apologetic, and I get that they likely have their hands full, I've witnessed a handful of people walk out after waiting to pick up foster pets. It's disheartening to know that there are people willing to make the trip to foster but decide to walk away instead because they haven't been acknowledged.

The front desk is never staffed from what I've seen. I think that having somebody up front to at least talk to and help check people in / give quotes for wait times could go a long way.

I think at least being acknowledged by a human being could go a really long way and could help people feel more inclined to wait to pick up foster pets.

A wonderful place to find your next pet! Staff is caring and friendly. Remember: Don't shop, please adopt. Found a wonderful kitten to adopt!

JHS like many other shelters has become more of a business less rescue. Don't be surprised when you try to do the right thing and rescue an animal when they turn you away knowing full well the poor thing has no home or safe place to go to. Their staff at the pet help center are not understanding and are dismissive and dishonest about why they are turning animals away giving you multiple explanations all different than the former. What a shame.

I’m honestly just annoyed that you can’t get anyone on the phone. Found a small dog limping in the road and he refused to come to me so I parked my car next to him while trying to get someone on the phone for help but any number you press leads to a 10 minute automated message. Even if they couldn’t help it’d be nice to know. I was like what it the purpose of this phone number?

Their dog attacked mine, unprovoked, in the middle of a bridge over sand dunes and then tried to claim our dog rounded a corner and surprised theirs, like we're trolls waiting under a bridge. Not just a quick bite, latched on for at least 60 seconds, in front of my children. Offered us (out of towners) a 7am Sunday morning vet appointment and refused to compensate us for visiting OUR vet when we returned home. Poor person walking the dog had no idea the dog was vicious. The lack of accountability is indicative that you will adopt an aggressive dog, unknowingly, and they will refuse all liability when it attacks another person/dog.

Dropped off donations.everything was wet from the rain in the drop box. Suggest moving drop off to a better covered area.

LOVE THIS PLACE! Great staff and lots of options. Not hard to get a dog, all you have to do is give them info and you get a three day trial to see if the dog is a good suit for you. You don’t need to fill out an application there but you do have to wait about half an hour for them to reach out to you. They can’t decline anything because there wasn’t an application. If you are looking for a dog I highly suggest this place.

Sadly this organization has become more of a Business and less of an Animal Rescue. We have been seeing kittens up for adoptions at different pet store chains for $100 VS any other animal rescue which promotes pet adoptions for much cheaper or even free.

Visited the shelter to add a kitten to our family. They had dozens and dozens of kittens to choose from. EVERY last one had an "adopted" piece of paper on their info. Found one little kitten that didn't have an "adopted" sticker and went to ask about him and before she even looked him up in the system she already knew he was spoken for. How are these kittens being held. Do these kittens even have homes guaranteed? Why isn't it first come first serve? When a family like mine was ready to take a kitty home today and these are waiting, it seems unfair.

We adopted a little dog 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I am unhappy. At the time of the adoption we were informed he had heart-worm but not to worry because they would take care of everything andI would be hearing from the vet within 2 weeks of adoption. So far I have called 3 times left messages. I am no further along than the day we brought the dog home. I know he needs to be getting on the lengthy process of resolving this health issue. We have friends who also adopted a dog with heart worm and it resulted in the death of the dog. This is something that needs to be taken care of promptly and here I sit waiting for a call. Not happy. I don’t want to lose this little guy.

My family and I were visiting the beach for a quick stay when our dog was attacked at the beach. We found out that it was a volunteer from this place who was walking a dog they had. The dog latched on my dogs neck and would not let go. The volunteer had zero idea what to do and clearly was not trained at all. I don't know what would have happened to my dog or children if my husband was not there. The humane society was not willing to let us have our vet check out our dog and let them know if he had any injuries and they didn't even apologize for what happened. Extremely disappointed in this organization is an understatement. For a place who is supposed to care about animals they definitely did not care about mine!

Horrible place to adopt a dog. My fiancé and I came here when I was pregnant we asked about our dog if he was good with kids, dogs, and cats they said yes. He had fleas and his nails were overgrown probably the worst i’ve seen. We took him home to find out he wasn’t friendly with other dogs. He would bark lunge and foam at the mouth when he even saw another dog 20 feet away. We have given him months to decompress and settle in and he’s still the same. He’s tried to bite other dogs and strangers that walked past us. They failed to tell us he’s had a couple other homes before us as well. We did NOT go into there looking for a dog to fix. I’m very disappointed and upset that we were lied to about our dogs temperament. Do yourself a favor save yourself from the heartbreak and just buy a puppy from a pet store.

Thank you to all the staff and volunteers here. The Pet Help Center has taken about 10-12 stray/abandoned dogs I've brought in, in the last 18 months. The patience of staff at the Pet Help Center is amazing and they are so helpful and resourceful. I've recommended them to many friends and neighbors for services.
