Jacksonville's Hands On Children's Museum reviews
16Our kids love this place. However, it is well loved by the surrounding community and so, therefore, therefore needs some new things to play with and explore are definitely needed. But for what it is it is fun, inexpensive and a good way to spend a few hours letting your kids use their imagination.
Perfectly planned for children AND parents. Seating everywhere (much appreciated lol). We will definitely be back!
If you're planning on going more than once in a year, definitely get the membership because even though it's not expensive to go once it does add up quickly. Also their military discount is great. You essentially get one free adult if you purchase a membership.
The place itself is a little rundown and some of the equipment is very dated but overall my kids always have a blast and they don't care what it looks like lol. The employees are always extremely nice as well.
I would give five stars but the big slide they have over the ball pit really needs to be fixed because it has a crack in the window and is occasionally shut down.
To be completely honest, pulling up to the building you begin to have second thoughts. The exterior of the building needs a face lift. Inside, the children's museum is pretty neat with a large open "play area" with different themed rooms. Many of the "exhibits" are sponsored, donated or hand made. It is for sure worth a visit.
Smelled odd. Very dusty, dirty looking, and dirty feeling. Place could use a good cleaning.
Cheap fun for the kids though.
My family from Mississippi came to visit us and we were so excited to take our daughters to this place, when we got there the lady at the desk was REALLY NICE! But the place had a weird smell and it was SOO HOT! We stayed there for like 5 minutes and we had to leave, it shouldn't be so hot in there because kids runs and jump and they get so hot already I really didn't feel comfortable having my daughter there
They need to fix that!
This place was fantastic! My toddler says it best as he entered the building and immediately said "woah woah woah! "
Had our little one's birthday party there. Great place for kids to do tons of pretend play!
My son has fun. That was what was most important.
They could run the AC to move and filter the air a bit.
It was warm (like 80°) and smelled like the air was humid.
Overall my son enjoyed it.
Lots to do in there.
Needs better cleaning methods. It felt pretty grimy and grungy. In a post-covid world more sanitation is necessary to feel comfortable and safe.
My grandson absolutely loves this place. Especially the Winn Dixie store and the cafe. Just wish they had more dress up clothes, he really likes that too but it's very limited choices.
The place could definitely use an upgrade but my soon to be 2 yr old enjoyed himself for sure
It's ok for little kids, my daughters loved the little winn dixie and the restaurant- all areas could be more well stocked but is fine for them.they have fun Playing different roles.
The kids like it but there isn't much to do. It would be nice if the museum was sectioned. Toddlers here, children there. Maybe some sort of history on their exhibits or a way for the kids to be more engaged with their offerings. As a parent, the onus is on me for my children to be stimulated and I get that I can't expect my kids to just go out and do their own thing (they're two and four), but a way to make this more engaging than just staged areas where kids can play would be pretty awesome.
My 7yr old loves going here and always finds plenty of things to do. Plenty of kids to play with. You don't have to worry about getting your kid. Just sit down and let them run free! Everthing is for them to touch hence the name.
