James Family Transmission is the only place that ever gets our service and repair needs. They are very good with diagnosing any problem we have ever had and some have been very tricky to find but they always come through with an answer. Their prices are very reasonable and they get the job done in a quickly. Highly recommend them.

They were very friendly and very fair pricing and didn't tell me I needed things that I didn't need. They helped me by trying to fix the smaller things instead of trying to take more money by saying it was a bigger issue. Very honest. I highly recommend this place and I will definitely be going back when I have car troubles.

These guys are awesome! Super knowledgeable and very helpful! I got told I needed a new transmission and clutch by a shop with no detail and was quoted 4300$. Came to james for a second opinion and he was able to save my transmission by replacing the bearings and clutch and saved me 2k! Will definitely be coming back to them from now on!

Good people, and well knowledgeable in transmissions. Family type of place, much like the good ole days of doing business. Stay away from the corporate rip-off artists, and go local! You'll be in better hands coming here. My shop uses them.

From the moment Erin returned my call to the time my vehicle was returned they were professional, respectful, and considerate of my deadline because of an upcoming trip. They also kept me updated. I now have a rebuilt and fully operational transmission. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Refused service on a diagnosis I was willing to pay for.
Just straight up said he wasn't interested on working on my car, happily taking my money elsewhere. Not a good image for your company. Going to Low Cost Transmission up the street instead. I'm sure they can't treat me any worse.

Update: low cost transmission down the road treated me amazingly and gave quick quality service incomparable to this location.

They replied and said they have no record of my service. That’s because it was refused in the first place! Incredible!

Maybe this is a great family business but which ever member of the James family that drives the dark red Silverado drives like nobody else on the road matters.

Nice reply. I notice that all the customers who don't give you a 5-star review get told the problem was of their own making, so it's in character. No worries - haven't used you in the 60 odd years I've lived in this city and doubt I'll need your services in the future.

I took my car there because my transmission wouldn’t shift, had it replaced, and everything was fine until it started shifting very hard. Turns out it wasn’t the new transmission, it was the motor mounts. He said I had a “bad” mount (I had no mounting issues before taking it there) and put a new one on without even asking me. This new mount was actually a bad mount, and put stress on all the other mounts, and now I need all new engine and transmission mounts and my engine is jumping around and shaking the whole car with every shift. Would’ve been better off taking it somewhere else. And he refuses to fix my mounts without charging me. Also my air intake hose has a big crack in it which was not there before I took it to the shop and I noticed it right after I drove home. James was very rude with me on the phone when I asked him to fix it and told me how he’s busy and has so many vehicles to work on and whatnot and I do not recommend anyone takes their car there. There’s plenty of other transmission places in Pinellas County.

Brought my 2011 Camaro SS in I was experiencing some noises coming from transmission I needed a new clutch put in I feel like they went above and beyond to get my car fixed right highly recommend anybody that wants their transmission or any other part of their car fixed perfectly to come hereThank you

They are very friendly and reasonable inexpensive for the repairs I had done. My SUV had some major problem which they fixed perfectly.

The transmission in my 2005 Avalanche went out in February. I took it to James and they had it fixed in a little over a week. Since then I’ve put 10,000 or so miles on the truck and the transmission is still shifting fine. I’ve had no issues since they took care of my truck and I am very happy with the service I received from them. Thank you for the great work!
