December 2006. Dr. Maida performed an intralase LASIK procedure that was the beginning of a nightmare of complications that have persisted to this day.

Make sure you Google search "Lasik Disasters", Morris Waxler (the FDA branch chief who regrets approving the Lasik procedure) and research the many stories of those who have had poor outcomes.

While many find refractive surgery to be one of the best decisions of their life for a not insignificant few it can certainly be the worst.

Dr. Maida and his team are probably competent nice people who had no malicious intent, but regardless of their intentions it doesn't help the years of pain I've dealt with, the tens of thousands of dollars I've spent on fruitless treatments and the years to come as my vision deteriorates, my chronic dry eye worsens and life itself is endured and not enjoyed.

Remember that refractive surgery is an elective procedure with huge profits for those who perform it.

Make sure you really understand what you are getting into when you sign the consent waivers they give you and you choose to commit to a permanent surgery with irreversible consequences.

What I wouldn't give to have never had that surgery.
