Joe's Stone Crab reviews
15Nice restaurant, looks very Miami with old decor that feels like cuban style. Food was very good, they have a wide menu with affordable options and also some premium dishes.
Good food, expensive, 45 min to get in. I think just because it's trendy, there are better places in Miami.
A 110-year-old restaurant, you can't ask for more tradition than that. My mother took me there 25 years ago and it's still the best to eat Stone Crabs. To that you add all their other traditional dishes that are also excellent. And now you also add fried chicken.yes.fried chicken. A seafood restaurant that has fried chicken on its menu is that they found the recipe and preparation of one of the best, for me it can only be compared to that of Chef Art Smith's.
Special mention to the best waiter in Miami: Braly. In a restaurant with that amount of people traffic, so many tables and protocols, he leads to an excellent experience with great human connection.
Joes is tired. They opened in off stone crab season to take advantage of unaware tourists and locals who enjoy Miami Spice They upsell water because their water tastes like ocean water reclaimed. Their iced tea was likely made with that same water and is undrinkable. The servers give a beautiful history of the restaurant. What they don't tell you is that those stone crabs you are ordering came from the freezer. But we knew that in advance. I choose not to order stone crabs. My dining companion did. First course was soups - they were amazing. Stone crab bisque for me and white clam chowder for companion. After a lengthy wait the entrees came and from there the food was a disappointment.
Our server was unable to handle a concern. Luckily I spoke to the right manager when I slipped out for a moment and our service was taken over by the head waiter who was everything that we might expect at a high end restaurant.
We have visited Joe's in Chicago and the food, the atmosphere and the service put it at the top of our list of places to go. I wasn't aware that they are just using the name of the original.
I had very high expectations for a special dinner. It was memorable.
This is by far the best crab I have ever had. The staff was very professional and courteous and offered some great suggestions.
Seafood is great, service is great, the wait to get a table, never great lol but always will go back! Thank you
Restaurant has sexist policy towards men. Men are barred from entering the restaurant wearing a sleeveless shirt while no such policies for women. I had the sleeveless shirt on, turned away by the restaurant and I had to walk back to my car to wear a full sleeve shirt in this hot weather.
How is forcing only men to wear sleeve shirts welcoming dress code for all? Are there any strict dress code policy for women? Do you dare to issue a dress code policy for women? Hypocrite!
Any self respecting man won't visit your restaurant ever again
Very old fashion, seafood shack
If you and Miami, you better go there at least one good food good service great atmosphere
I have eaten in this place with my family before and never had an issue asking for something that they had run out of. Last month I went there for dinner and they did not have some of the desserts they had posted in the menu. One thing that I noticed this time is that in the restrooms they don’t have a changing table for babies as all restaurants are supposed to have, it looks like a NO baby friendly restaurant. I will never come back here.
This restaurant is delightful - it was such a fun and flavorful seafood dinner in the scenery was great. Fun fact- we sat at Al Capone’s Corner table! Although I personally did not love stone crabs, the food was delightful. Pro tip – don’t fill up on the lobster bisque, split it with someone or else you are going to fill up fast and leave with a ton of leftovers. The service was amazing and I would highly recommend this to all of my friends and family.
Definitely a must try if you're visiting Miami.
A staple in Miami Beach since 1913 (our server started with a 15 minute history lesson to start our experience), this is the original restaurant. The stone crab here is amazing and the claws are huge! But don't stop there, the crab bisk is a must try and don't sleep on their fried chicken either, it's amazing! I'd also recommend the hash brown potatoes they serve, they do them in a way I've never had and they were fantastic. For dessert, their must try is their key lime pie and it didn't miss!
A $$ night out for sure, but this place is a must, as the food is an experience and their service is easily the best I've had in a long while (and we went to Capital Grille the night before).
It gets busy, so I highly recommend you book a table well in advance. By 8pm there was a line out the door. And dress up, it's Miami Beach afterall!
First time here and Andy was awesome! Good service is hard to find and he nailed it! Had the lobster roll, fried chicken and Shrimp, all excellent choices! Ill be back for Andy and the Crab!
The best parts of meal are salad and French fried.mahi mahi and stone crab are tasteless. We also find this place trying too hard to be like Peter Luger at NYC but food quality is much to be desired, so it’s a bit fake vibe.the bill is $114 without tips.
Wow.great food and service.thank you Andy. Our table tried a few items this evening from the amazing fried chicken, fried shrimp, and delicious loster roll. Chicken was cooked perfectly, breading is mild but tasty. Fried shrimp was Jumbo or XL in dize, breading again was mild but tasty with buttet and cocktail sauce. And our lobster roll was packed end to end with meat.worth every penny, every bite.
Anybody that's been here knows how good it is. What an awesome meal. Had the Miami Spice meal.
