John C. Hitt Library reviews
14Third floor needs to open because there’s never any study space for how big the school is.and please find a new system of reserving study rooms
The library used to be my second home but now I have to find another place to do my work as too often the library smells really bad as UCF allows homeless people to hang out there. I am no longer able to concentrate and do work at the UCF library because the strong foul body odor impregnated throughout the 5th floor, the elevators, and other areas and also because I no longer feel safe there. I do feel bad for homeless people but the university library shouldn't be a homeless shelter because this interferes with the productivity and wellbeing of the students. UCF should provide a safe and clean space for students. I know other students who think the same and no longer use the library. Why would UCF spend so much money in library renovations if students cannot use it because they don't feel comfortable or safe at their state of the art library.
This library is HUGE and it's a great place to study! The different levels have different noise levels (1 and 2 are normal volume, 3 is currently closed, 4 is whisper, and 5 is deathly quiet). I really like the 4th floor because it is the largest floor and people are still very quiet. The 5th floor is nice but I feel like I'll be judged if I drop a pen. People who can study in the 2nd floor (the main floor) are gods because there is usually so much noise and walking around.
Great environment to study and work. The construction on the 3rd floor can get loud at time but still a great place
Go knights.love the renovations of the library.been at ucf since 2015, currently getting 2nd degree
Great place to go study, each floor has a different level of acceptable noise so if you want a really quiet experience or want to work in a group, you can do both.
Great place on campus to relax and get work done. 5th floor is great! Every desk has its own outlets if you need to charge a device.
My Alma Mater and first time ever really terrible experience trying to use the library. Very very disappointed sad to say.
A fantastic resource for all UCF students with tons to rent, including anatomical models for studying, electronic equipment including speakers, portable batteries, and camcorders, and, of course, a wide variety of textbooks and books in general. With tons of computers available on all floors (and even indicators telling you how many computers are available on each floor), whiteboards for writing and problem practice, a cozy and tasty cafe on the first floor, and a wide array of meeting rooms for either small clubs or individual study, the library is the perfect place to really sit down and get things done, no matter what classes you're enrolled in.
One of the best places to study on campus. Very nice first thing in the morning when it opens, it can get more crowded as the day goes on but there is still plenty of space to hangout.
You can freely access library as a guest. If you are a student you have many benefits of technology lending like iPad, gopro, laptops
I'm posting this review as an update to the many negative reviews left from a few years ago.
Now that renovations are coming to a close, the library is one of my favorite places to study. The 4th and 5th floor are very quiet and people generally respect the sanctity of this. The hours are decent too, and I can get a lot done at night when the 5th floor is relatively empty.
Yes, there could be more outlets, and the seating is quite full during peak hours.but seating everywhere on campus is full during peak hours. It's unfair to complain about the library specifically. I expect the additional seating and outlets that come with the modern updates in the renovation to solve a lot of these problems
As a bonus,
The downstairs coffee shop has really great coffee and friendly staff, but it is a bit pricey as expected from a handcrafted coffee shop.
It's a great library. Has a good amount of tables, computers and other resources for people to use.
