Johnny Pies Pizzeria, Coconut Creek FL

I lived in NYC for 30 years before moving to South Florida in 2020. The quality of pizza down here has been disappointing to the point where I gave up. I happened upon this place because I work at the jail down the street. The pie is my favorite down here by far! Great flavors in the sauce and a great crust. But I have had the same issue TWICE now. I hate very hot pizza. To me hot pizza is like hot lasagna and the flavors need time to meld together without the steam. Also, my mouth is sensitive to the heat. I let this be known clearly by saying "not too hot". The first time I accepted partial blame bc the guy at the oven said "I'm waiting for a fresh pie. " To me I know that means "sauce and mozzeralla soup" but I accepted it. I wound up boxing it and giving it away to a teenager outside becuase I only hava a limited time for lunch and can't wait 30 minutes for pizza to reach ideal temperature. So yesterday I asked for 2 pepperoni. Not only did they make the wrong pizza, but when the guy- who I had never seen before- took the proper slices, I reiterated "just warm, not hot". 5 minutes went by and I was served what looked like cheese and pepperoni sauce on top of crust. I immediately asked the girl to box it, complained that it was too hot. It was placed in a box, no "sorry about that" or anything. I offered it to a customer sitting there. I eventually put it on the table outside in case maybe a homeless or poor person wanted it. This won't happen a third time. And btw it wasn't busy- only 2 other customers were in there. So 4-5 starts for great pizza, but that doesn't matter if it isn't served the way I like it, especially as a regular who has been telling everyone about them.

First time in Johnnys. Very pleasant staff. I was surprised that they had grandmas, and Sicilian pizza! I was also amazed that they make orangini (rice ball) as you usually have to go to New York to get that! I did order the orangini and it was amazing. My wife and I also ordered a regular cheese slice and it was very good and could tell the cheese was high quality mozzarella. Overall, I would give the pizza an 8 on a 10 scale. I’m a true New Yorker so I don’t give out 10’s to easily. Great little take our place that I would recommend anyone to go have some authentic NY style Italian food.

DELICIOUS pizza! My daughter said she's saving the receipt to remember the "best pizza in this world" Love that they sell by the slice. The white pizza was sooo yummy. Friendly service. So glad we tried it out!

I work at Publix next door and have eaten there 100x over the last 2 years and have NEVER had a bad meal. I mean, I have gone through the menu
I tried to order from lane 5 check out last night and kept getting busy too which I couldn't. Close to closing and haven't eaten since my day job at 11: 30am.
An Angel came through my lane that works there and them being closed already, when I explained how much I Love the food and was trying to order,

Got a 16" meat lovers pizza for $17.99. It was a hit. Delicious. Also ordered an XL Meatball Parm pizza. Fantastic!

I tried this spot on a whim, and it paid off I got a large works, and a baked ziti and everything was amazing. Wish I lived closer because I'd come here more often.

If you're looking for authentic New York style thin crust pizza then this is the place to go! Pizza maker Harry is second-to-none. "Best" N. Y.pizza I've had in Florida! Other menu items are also tasty and generous portions! Five Star service by Julianna who is both friendly & efficient! Owner Dennis is hands-on in the kitchen, but always finds time to say hello. Newcomer Amy also very friendly and seems to be a nice addition to the staff! Overall 5 stars for food & service! I highly recommend!

Stopped by for a Veggie Pizza to go. First of all, the staff is teriffic, very cordial and accommodating. The pie was unanimously delicious. Nice crust, tasty sauce and nicely populated with veggies. I asked that the olives be omitted, so they added some additional mushrooms & onion. After reading several good reviews about this place, I will have to come back to try other menu items. Everything being prepared and served while I was there looked delicious.

THE BEST! I've lived in Margate 35 years and tried ALL the pizza places nearby. This is the first time I tried Johnny Pies and this is THE BEST PIZZA, WINGS, KNOTS I've ever had. I placed the order online on a Wednesday at 3: 03pm. Order delivered at 3: 36pm. Everything was so hot I couldn't touch it. Salad was fresh too. Definitely my go-to for pizza now. Thanks!

Was in the area and found this gem. Excellent "NY style" (or Jersey boardwalk) pizza and the folks that work there were great. We had a large plain and it was very close to the pizza we get when we visit up North. Nice thin crust, but not so thin that it's crunchy. A good sauce that is not sweet and plenty of good stringy cheese. Toughest part was having the patience to let it cool enough so I wouldn't burn the roof of my mouth (I didn't! LOL) Don't go there expecting elegance - it's a pizza place and the place feels like you're visiting NY neighborhood joint! Well done guys!

OMG! FUHGETABOUTIT! Today was my first time trying this place. Someone had mentioned to me in passing as I am from Brooklyn NY and always saying can't find a good NY Pizzeria here on South FL.well as I am still trying to catch my breath and recover from almost passing out I can tell you this is now my number one place! I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked in and saw not ONLY Rice Balls but my favorite besides Pizza in NY. A CHICKEN ROLL! I knew of only one other place that knew what a Chicken Roll was and made them and they closed. But at any rate as soon as I saw that and asked if it was indeed a Chicken Roll I ordered it and waited in anticipation for it to come out of the oven.and WOW! My prayers have been answered. I now found a real NY Pizzeria and that is also evident in the Cheese they use. GRANDE cheese is the best cheese and only cheese a Pizzeria should be using. So they use the best ingredients too. I will now be frequenting this Pizzeria as it will be my number one place to go and anxious to try many other items that I am sure will be amazing! Good Job Johnny Pies! Highly Highly Recommended, especially if your from NY or NJ as you will really appreciate this place and feel like your back home

Great first visit! Kitchen happy to make custom slice to allow us to try. Pizza is EXCELLENT.we both had dinners. Complete with salad, rolls and choice of pasta. We enjoyed chicken parm and chicken marsala. Not just a pizza joint. While we ate many more dine in and to go orders. 5 Stars by food and EVERY employee giving great service. We'll be back soon

I was recommended this place from a friend and since I was in the area I decided to stop by. Walking into this place you just know the food is going to be good and I was not disappointed! My calzone and my friend's pizza were both delicious. I was also told the wings were good. I didn't get this time but I will definitely be going back!

Order delivery and the food was really good. It’s nice to get New York style pizza in Florida. The wings were the bomb! Will definitely be ordering from here again.
