Grief is an important topic for nursing students to understand and provide care for. I made a wise decision when I reached out to Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home in Punta Gorda to request a guest presentator on the subject of grief. Stacy Jones immediately responded to my request by inviting the students and me to tour the funeral home, offered a presentation/gathering and a catered luncheon. I was overwhelmed with gratitude for this learning opportunity. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Stacy and Nadia Hurt. While touring the funeral home, we gained a deeper understanding of the care and individualized attention to detail that Kays-Ponger & Uselton provides to families during their most difficult time. The commitment to creating a comforting and peaceful atmosphere was evident at every turn. The luncheon arranged for us was not only delicious but also a warm and welcoming gesture. The luncheon allowed the opportunity for us to connect with Stacy and Nadia and learn more about the services Kays-Ponger & Uselton offers, as well as the compassionate approach that each performs while supporting their grieving families. Stacy and Nadia’s willingness to answer our questions and provide insights into the funeral industry was invaluable. No questions were off limits or left unanswered. Our visit to Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home left us with a deeper appreciation for the care and support that is provided to the bereaved and their families during this most challenging time. The care and level of respect for this facility cannot begin to be expressed in a simple review. From start to finish our director Nadia was caring and understanding for our situation. She guided my decisions whenever I had questions and explained things in the simplest terms so we could all understand the process.
