La Norma Italian Restaurant reviews
20I left with a bad taste in my mouth from this place. The quality of the food did not match the price. Almost everything we ordered was either out or portions of the platter were unavailable and replaced with something else without us even being informed.
As I was working late the staff came out and offered me some espresso and water. I thought what nice people, I'll come back. The restaurant was impeccable. The food also terrific. By far, the staff was the best around. Try the Ravioli.
I missed real Italian foodhappy to find this place here in Sarasota! Highly recommend regina pizza, lasagna and gnocchi la pasta!
Very unsatisfied with the service in the food in this restaurant I would not recommend this place lasagna was terrible very greasy and good luck trying to find Regatta in the salmon pasta there was little bits of salmon and very little bits of anything and very little pasta let's remind me of restaurants that are serving on a budget charging higher prices and you don't get what you're paying for and the service was not good either non attentive staff nobody came back to check and see how things were
La Norma has long been one of our go-to restaurants while staying in our place on Longboat Key. We have always loved their food. However, I'm sad to say I am very unhappy with how the prices have increased. Last weekend, we ordered a gluten-free pasta dish (I was super happy to have that option) and a 14" pizza and the bill was $60! My pasta was $26.50 PLUS a $4 "GLUTEN-FREE CHARGE" (?). The pizza was $18 PLUS $5 for sausage and $3 for mushrooms. Come on, y'all. This is ridiculous. I get that covid times were tough and I ordered a lot of take out to support the local restaurants but, let's get back to normal prices.
Good food but service was not good. The waiter was not attentive in the drink order and never understood the order. Lots of mosquitoes outside. He unfortunately would not return.
Today I had a pleasure to have a dinner in this stunning restaurant. I immpressed how beautiful atmosphere was there and food was unreal delicious. I’ve had a couple special positions and I have no words to describe these amazing dishes. Salad was tasty and ravioli with ricotta and pumpkin cream literally stole my heart. Highly recommend this restaurant to visit. Server Paula was very nice and pleased. My complements to the shef!
The most Italian restaurant in the area! Risotto with shrimp is delicious, an excellent choice of wines. Also, we ordered pizza to go and we was excited that it was baked in pizza oven and taste really good. I’m European and I feel like I’ve been in Italy for that evening!
A taste of Italy here in longboat key. The staff is knowledgeable and experienced. We enjoy the inside dining with white tableclths and cool air conditioning. The outdoor is casual with the same menu. We tried their entrées special which included salmon and wonderful pasta. The wine by the glass selection is fantastic. And the desserts are straight out of an Italian dream. Thanks to our server Paula.
One note that if it’s a warm day in Florida, you may want to pay attention to your outdoor table. The western sun comes directly into this quaint little side, seating area, and there are only a few umbrellas.
Great food and service. Nice small Italian restaurant with delicious food. Would recommend highly.
Amanda was our waitress and her husband the chef. My wife had lasagna and for me salmon and linguini. All pasta made in house and what a difference. Beer selection very limited but no big deal. We ate outside and they have a nice patio area. They do supply off because of mosquitoes but we did no need to use. It is dog friendly. Will go back again for sure.

Probably the worst pizza I’ve had in my life and extremely overpriced for what you get! BEWARE!
We have dined here and had take out many times. Busy times and slow times and has always been great. However, this experience was less than favorable. Ordered a take out large margarita with chicken which is our go to pizza and it was horrible. After a 30 min pickup, waited another 15 min on a super slow night (2 customers) and got home to find a luke warm pizza with barely there basil and cold tomatoes and the chicken thrown on after the fact, like they did a big whoops, which with each bite fell off. The flavor was good which is why this got the rating it did. Not up to par to their normal standard. If this had been our first time it would have been our last. Shape up folks. Locals like to eat out off season so pay attention to who is cooking. Staff was great so no blame there. Deciding whether we come again or not.
The best authentic Italian restaurant in the area! If your looking for a place that is cozy, where the staff is friendly and engaging, and the food is always fresh and delicious, La Norma is the place! It’s not just a place for dinner, it’s an experience!
We came without a reservation at around 6pm and were told we had to sit outside. We were surprised since the restaurant wasn’t full and several tables were available. We sat outside with a temperature of 89 degrees and lots of mosquitoes. The food took forever to come out, the service was very slow, the adult portions were small and the food was just ok. We had 2 entrees, 2 kids meals, 4 sodas and the bill was $100. Honestly, I don’t think we will be back.
Nice little restaurant with inside and outside seating. Great food and live music on a Thursday night. Several Dustin was very good. We’ll be back!
So this was an interesting dining experience, we visited this restaurant while on vacation with friends, I wasn't keen on it since I usually avoid Italian restaurant, but it was actually a great surprise. The staff was really nice, and the food was pretty good, kept some authenticity of the Italian cuisine. If you are in the area I do reccomend it for a nice dinner in a great environment, oh and definitely try the desserts!
Ordered pizzas to go the aervice was fast and let me tell you, the pizza was very good. Thins, crispy and delicious. I'll be driving g back to longboat just to eat their pizza. Hats off to them for keeping authenticity!
Went to pick up a carry out order. Ordered the food at 5. The website said it was ready at 6. Went to pick it up and waited another hour at the restaurant before the food was actually ready. Staff was extremely rude when I asked about the order.
Let’s start by saying I’ve been vacationing on this island for 15+ years.
Also, I’ve been eating pizza for 35+ years.
Order your pizza from here.
