I had an appointment on Thursday morning. I was supposed receive a call to start my appointment. I have been ghosted since then with receptionist trying to get a hold of Psychiatrist as well. The staff are very kind and attentive. I just need my medication. This is an unprofessional practice.

Horrible doctor. This doctor will forget who you are, never speak to you, his front desk staff is absolutely rude. Appointments will take forever, waiting room takes forever. He's always on vacation and recommends you get baker acted if you're having a problem. Not sure how anyone is giving this doctor a good rating, maybe this clinic just likes to pick which patients to give great treatment to? All the bad ratings are absolutely correct. Go somewhere else.

Staff was nice. Doctor was not. Unprofessional, obviously stressed and overworked but the worst part was that he had an anxiety attack in his office in front of patients. Blind leading the blind.

He definitely shouldnt be in this line of business he was & is still my psychiatrist (In my area I would have to wait months before I can see another physician) Well, I went to him my first time 3-4 yrs ago. I am diagnosed panic disorder since 2010 with bipolar 2- & this guy tried to take me off of my controlled medications immediately accusing me of being "a drug addict" well technically in his word "because i had been on my medication for X amount of years. He told me the medication I was being prescribed; he could not prescribe to me (very confused) he offered a different medication I used in the past; that I informed him wasnt Ideal since it did not work for me in the past. He completly disregarded anything I had to say abt my psychiatric history. He didnt reach out to my other physician who only moved to broward. NOTHING.frustrated by him I agree (I had no choice) plus he was just making me upset.we went back and forth on what MG I should take until I finally convinced him switching my anxiety meds would only make me more anxious (if u suffer frm anxiety you know the thought alone can cause a panic attack) smh. I was more anxious then ever and he offered no release - so I asked my mother to come in with me cause maybe if he sees im not a drug addict, im just trying to be a normal functioning woman that would help.but nope! Long story short - hes inpersonable doesnt get to know his patients at all before passing judgemnt (oh & now that im finally better he seems like hes in super disbelief; I would to if i were him cause it was no thanks to him!) AT ALLLLLL! I started SMOKING MARIJUANA AGAIN & i TOLD HIM THAT ALSO. (SUPRISINGLY HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY NEGATIVE OPINIONS THERE) point is he just prescribes meds he doesn't care for his patience so if your like me and you need therapy dont go to him! Also he accepts ALOT OF GOVERNMENT FUNDED INSURANCES so hes seeing way to many patients to be personable. POINT IS he sucks as a psychiatrist! As a physician he lacks the interpersonal skills required tbh. RUNNNNNN far frm this drs ofc!

I have been seeing Dr. Alonso for approx 2 years. He is very kind and his staff is very helpful. The doctor takes the time to listen to you and to answer any questions. His staff is very kind, knowledgeable and is a big help whenever I have an insurance issue. I don't know where the negative comments are coming from. But I will say that any time you're dealing with "mental health patients". That's not a shock. My only complaint will be that sometimes the appointments get backed up (especially around a certain time), but I do recognize that some patients require more time than others so I'm fine waiting. I changed my appointment time and had no issues after that,

I've known this doctor for many years an I'm shocked to read all this. About him. For sure not taking my mom their. Now after calling and the rudeness from that girl is very unprofessional totally I cancelled my mother's appointment. Because when it comes to my blood I'm not a nice person it's a shame that this doctors reputation has totally demolished this way. I'm totally shocked about it. What a shame. Seriously I did not want to believe all I read. But now I believe it.all.very unprofessional staff. I'm ashamed to even know how this dr has come down. Please believe all you read what a total shame.

What a joke. This doctor and the staff are the type of people that are reported to AHCA, that's for sure. Need documents signed? Got to wait until the doctor comes back from yet another "vacation". Were you told you'd get a call back? Nope, call never comes and when you call they never pick up, and when they do they hang up twice on you as soon as they hear it's you. Doctor and staff lie. Don't waste your time going to this doctor that doesn't' even look at you during your appointment, and makes you feel like a waste and only a number to fill his pockets.

(I revised this is 2017 to add this 1 note: Check all the other good reviews and notice that those people have only ever made 1 review from their profile and it is too this doctor office. My original review below is from 2013.)

One of the worst doctors ever! This office is small, musty and outdated. But upon meeting the doctor after the long wait, I observed that he did not look nor smile at me. He sent the first 5 minutes looking at paperwork as I spoke and then he spent the next two minutes making remarks that were insulting and not typical of a trained clinician who understands how to deal with the mentally ill. When I informed him that I would not be able to take medication for several months due to a reason, he told me that he could not see me because my cheap insurance will not allow him to see a patient who is not on meds. Psychiatrist have long forgotten that that are also licensed to do psychotherapy and are only interested in writing a prescription and rushing you out as fast as they can these days. I called my insurance and they said it was at his discretion to see me and they had no such rule. After informing me that he could not see me, he jumped up after 8 minutes of my initial assessment with my chart in hand and headed for the door as if I was not worth his time or good enough to treat with decency. I felt so upset. I had to ask him to stop as he walked out the door in order to request that he at least fill out a 1 page short form for my school. He stated that he would and he gave it back to me with most of the lines blank and not filled out. When I called to request that he fill it out entirely, he would not speak to me directly but told them to tell me, he was not treating me. However, he did bill insurance e for a full hour with me. This guy does not care about people. He was arrogant, rude and treated me as if I was beneath him.

This Doctor prescribed to my dad an antidepressant after a 15minute "evaluation". When my dad has never suffer from depression, in the contrary he is extremely optimist. When I called him to have him cancel the prescription, he said ok and hang up the phone. If I could give zero stars I would. Very rude and unprofessional. Maybe he should be the one taking the meds ;)

Ive been a patient of his for about a year. I suffer from panic disorder which is terrible. This dr is amazing. Hes kind, understanding, and very easy to talk to. He really cares about his patients. While other dr were going to give me adderall with ease, he saved me from taking that medicine due to my panic disorder. Hes a one of a kind dr

I have been a patient of Dr. Alonso for about six months. The waiting time all depends on the type of day, sometimes I will wait 5 minutes - sometimes over 30 minutes. Dr. Alonso is very kind, he made me feel comfortable with speaking to him openly since day one. He listens to all of my concerns and answers my questions no matter how silly they are. I have seen over five doctors before him and felt like they would prescribe me anything just to move on with the next patient. Dr. Alonso helped me find the right medication and dose to help me. The receptionist is very sweet, and will go out of her way to fit you in between appointments if you need to see the dr last minute for anything. Other offices will make you wait over 3 weeks for an appointment. Overall, I am very happy with being a patient of Dr. Alonso, and would recommend him to anyone looking for a good psychiatrist.

Dr. Alonso has taken care of my Mother for the past 19 years, until her passing this year with kindness, devotion and compassion. He is a devoted professional, in a thankless job.
